PSVR is out this month... 0.o

I'm not buying one but I'm very interested in how things go.

All the VR headsets cost more than I expected which put me off the whole affair as I was saving up for a PC too.

but I am interested in how a "mainstream" audience takes on VR with the Playstation.

I need to stop waiting for them to magically appear and actually get the camera and move controllers. Otherwise, my preorder with Amazon is secured!

Really hyped to try things out, holding off on getting games until after I try the demo disc. I want to love Rigs, but I'm wary of its promises haha

Tried rigs back in April, it was awesome then so with another 6 months dev time it's a insta-buy day one for me.

Still have not seen anything compelling from this, nor have I heard any of the various press outlets have that one thing that blew them away to have them say this is definitely something everyone needs to see or play.

Also given Sony's track record with their add on support I'm super waiting and seeing on this.

In Ireland, I preordered it when it was unveiled to the public as morpheus and paid it off. Unfortunately with two weeks to go, Gamestop can't tell me what the bundle deals will be. How unprepared can a launch be? I know what I'm getting but still hoping it might shave a few euro off the total.

I'm hyped. Rigs, Here They Lie and Battlezone are day one purchases for me.

Drive club will have to wait until I get a steering wheel.

... Wait a minute. I must be mistaken because those are actual games. I must have imagined them or something.

RIGS, Rez, and Resident Evil 7 (3 Rs huh) all look interesting to me as far as VR tech goes. Give me an action JRPG done in VR and im really down. C'mon Atlus, Falcom, or Bandai Namco.

Dream game would be a Phantasy Star VR or Etrian VR but I doubt that'll happen...

Looks cool, but it's nearly $600 here and that's more than I'm willing to spend on something like this. Also, my interest in VR has tanked significantly in the past year.

My plan for launch day is to sit back with some popcorn and read the many threads that will pop up here. After trying it out twice at Best Buy, it was very underwhelming. I believe there are going to be a lot of disappointed gamers come launch day evening.

People still think VR is going to go the way of 3D. The scope of it isn't even on the same level. It's not a small feature change, it's a paradigm shift in the medium. Especially as new features are rolled out in the next gen headsets. I truly believe VR will be impossible to ignore when it becomes instrumental to improving IQ and performance via new rendering techniques.

That sounds awesome OP. :)

I have it pre-ordered too but haven't bought a camera and Move controllers yet and I'm not really in the mood to do that. I've got enough games for this year (and beyond) and I'm not super hyped for VR in general. I'll try PSVR out at some store.

For now I'm looking forward to the Giant Bomb stream. Maybe I'll end up selling the PSVR I don't know. We'll see.

VR will be a the game changer. Just like the transition between 2D and 3D.

I'd be there day 1 if Resident Evil 7 was there, but I can wait until next year. In the meantime, PS4 Pro is preordered and ready for Final Fantasy XV.

I'm hoping for a VR co-op game with one person being the pilot in a helicopter gunship and 1-2 gunners on the side.
I'm so excited to see what VR brings but I'm worried that if it doesn't take off then we won't see it with PS5.

my amazon pre-order is still open and delivery date is october 13th..but I don't know. the only games that interest me are RIGS, EVE and the Star Trek game...I'll probably cancel my pre-order and wait until january.

hmm.. i've waited for VR gaming for almost 30 years and now that it's here i'm not even really excited to try it. i just know it will be underwhelming (on PS4 at least), so i don't want to spend huge amounts of money on it.. not until it's perfected and TRULY wows everyone.

also it doesn't help that none of the games i'm looking forward to are VR games.. The Last Guardian, FFXV, Mafia 3, new Red Dead (probably next GTA as well..), next Assassin's Creed etc etc.

i feel kind of bitter honestly.. waited so long for VR and when it finally arrives, it has nothing for me. most of the PS4 VR games look like minigames to me, or tech demos. it's sad. i have to still keep waiting, until PS5 i guess.

I want to dip in but I think a "wait and see" approach will be sensible for VR.

I'm still concerned that the experience may wind up being sub-optimal on the current PS4 and the combined price of a pro & vr headset puts it beyond what I'd be willing to spend.

Glad to seem Sony has their marketing department really behind VR. Feel like this will be a one quarter release with software support dropping next year.

What is this crap with" i Preordered but i don't really know if i want it " ? Trying to get attention or are you feeling special ?

Harsh and poorly put but I agree. Don't need to preorder something and if you're not sure its best to hold off and get a better idea of the product post launch.

Tried it at Best Buy yesterday.... <_< I think I'll wait till we hit second or third generation tech.

I'm pissed that I live in a city of over 200,000 and we apparently aren't important enough to get a VR headset in any Best Buy or Gamestop here.

Also, just cancelled my order... s. Forgot I had a bundle then did a core as well because I wasn't sure if I wanted the bundle or not since I had a camera already.

Cancelłed my order a few months ago but I am intrigued to see how it does.

I don't feel like Sony are talking about it enough (I know it's sold out, but still). There's a new piece of hardware coming out in less than two weeks and next to no one is talking about it.

Feels wrong to me.

I will be sifting through the early impressions with great interest.

There's little point in heavily promoting something the customer can't buy. It's best to just do enough to stop people cancelling their pre-order. Once the first wave is out and Sony can gauge how many units a month they need, then you'll see it advertised more heavily, although to be honest I've seen plenty of coverage for my needs.

I'm excited for what it can possibly offer. But seeing the amount of cables, plugs and wires for the PSVR it really shows the tech is still way to really for such a big release. Seriously this stuff is a mess.

I have my day one preorder, i kept my moves from the ps3 era (and hurray they're working) and i had a camera in a good bundle at launch.
So i'm all set.

But i'm not preordering any game yet. Gonna try the 18 demos before i make a purchasing decision.

I really have no interest in it at the moment, but I hope it does well because I feel like, in a few years, it will be something I want to be part of.

I have a pre-order at both Best Buy and Amazon when they were first available. Both are the bundle version. I am only going to keep one. Is the Amazon one the better pre-order? Or should I go with Best Buy?

I am really hype for PSVR. The next twelve days are going to be long ones.

I pre-ordered a while ago but I think I'm going to sit it out a little longer. I think I'm going to really have to try it first, and I might not get that chance before it is actually released.

Still have my pre-order, could cancel any day now. I'm intrigued by the tech, but outside of Drive Club VR nothing screams "buy me"..

Best Buy for points I'd say.

I still have my pre-order, but cant help but feel that getting the Pro first to maximise the experience. Im probably gonna cancel and just watch this space...

For the first time in a while it feels like we are cusp of some major complementary tech changes and I want to get past that - in a couple of years I expect VR to be surprisingly better...

ps3ud0 8)

It doesn't really seem like Sony is hyping up the PSVR like I would expect. I totally forgot it was coming out this month in all honesty.

There's not much point in them throwing money at marketing for a product that has more demand than supply available. They'll probably start marketing more heavily a few weeks after release.

The PSVR will die, or live through word of mouth, reaction videos etc. Sony will market this first wave Until Dawn style.

The first batch is as good as sold out, why pump marketing money into something people can't get? It'll just piss people off.

VR can't be marketed in the traditional ways, it seems. The horror games + YouTube + Halloween parties = (possible) success.

Looking to walk into Best Buy across the street and walk out with one on launch day like I always do with everything I buy . Was contemplating just buying the PS4 pro but I think I rather have this as my wife saw some videos and said it looks fun . I'll wait to trade up to the pro around Christmas .

Had mine preordered at Amazon and GAME, cancelled my GAME order the other day and now I'm thinking I may end up cancelling the Amazon order too. I'm totally in for VR but right now I'm not convinced it can offer all that much, by the time we start seeing better things from it Sony will likely release a better model or the price will be half what it is now.

...and yet I'm still reluctant to cancel my order.

I kept going back and forth on whether I was going to keep my preorder but decided to. I'm still not 100% sure how I feel it, but I'm still curious enough in VR to jump in. It looks like a nightmare of wires, though. Gonna have to rearrange my shit.

I know VR is already out but this is the first commercial release no? Even trying to google Vive and Jb hifi I get links to PSVR turn up.

Will be interesting to see how much public reaction this gets.

90% of my friends at university never heard of Oculus Rift and HTC Vive before, but they are interested in PS VR. So yeah, this could feel like the first commercial release to most of the people.

Aside from that: I only have the headset and Driveclub VR preordered. A friend is now looking for another game so we can trade - what should I recommend to him? We are not into horror.

Having tried it few times, I have no interest in it anymore personally. Not at this point. It all boils down to the games as they currently have been shown. I haven't seen anything outside of RE7 that I'd want to play in VR. The tech is fine, it works as you'd expect, but if I don't have anything significant to play, it's nothing more than a tech-showcase. I'm sure I'll jump in in the future though, when prices are down and some meaty software has been released.

I think I'm gonna cancel my preorder. While it looks good there just aren't any big games that utilise VR fully, at least not for now.

Think I'll get a PS4 Pro instead.

I'm hyped. 13th can't come sooner. I hope that it blows be away as I've never tried VR and I've stayed away from most media discussing VR.

Am I the only not hearing anything about this outside NeoGaf or other hardcores? There seem to be little to no hype, so for this to take off it really needs a good word to mouth.

I'm really hoping this goes well but I'm still not entirely convinced that this wave of VR is going to last. I just don't think the price/performance/software ratio is where it needs to be. Here's hoping, though!

Stupidest thing Sony did was to announce/launch the Pro this year.

They should have given PSVR a free run to build hype/a user base. It should have been obvious that Pro would end up damaging its chances.
