PSP GOTY if you ask me. I don't really understand why it is getting such average scores, it is like Chase HQ done right on today's hardware. Oldskool gaming bliss.

Is anyone enjoying the game?

It's because lots of reviewers thought it was "too hard", and there aren't any checkpoints on the levels, so if you die, you start again from the beginning of the level, which is apparently unacceptable in this day and age. I was quite enjoying it (although it is unforgiving and relatively simplistic in terms of gameplay) and then Mario Kart came out, but I'm sure I'll go back to it and finish it when I get bored of that.

Well, the game is indeed *hard* and makes me want to smash my PSP after failing for third time a mission, but other than that I find it an excelent game (although I must confess that I hate the dialog)

The driving part sure is better than Burnout Legends'

Why the hell do they release such insanely blown up screens of PSP games?
Developers/PR departments release them like that because it works much better for print media, and they probably don't bother preparing different set of screens for web media.

Having just finished it, I'm amazed at how many things the game gets right, only to let itself down by failing on a few basic counts. The soundtrack is awesome, the controls are intuitive and well thought-out, the graphics among the best I've seen on the PSP so far, the basic gameplay is great, the story is perfect for this kind of game, etc.

But, the lack of checkpoints is incredibly annoying, so is the inconsistent difficulty level and the erratic (but mostly crap) car-handling. The on-foot parts could have done with some more work too, given that they - unlike the rest of the game - are incredibly easy (which makes it even more tedious to replay them for the umpteenth time due to the lack of mission checkpoints).

Much as I liked the game, I can't really recommend to anyone but experienced gamers, since everyone else will likely just end up being frustrated by it. I hope they do a sequel, since very little would need to be changed to turn it into a solid 9/10.

Hmmm sure would be nice if this delay between the UK release and the US release saw them putting in checkpoint saves...

Would love to be, but won't be anytime soon unless I import. Might be worth holding out for the US release in this case in hopes they might add checkpoints to missions, since that sounds like the most glaring omission.

It's a shit of a game. Once you get past the initial novelty of jumping from car to car the frustrating difficulty kicks in.

Guilty admission - I tried that first Mafia escort mission about 20 times. The first mission in the game. Couldnt do it. Ever.

I was able to do a load of the Renegade missions, but couldnt touch the Mafia one.

It was back to NFS Most Wanted for this kid.

This is why I'm holding off on importing. There is little justifiable reason for SCEA to delay the game from the Holiday season (even the excuse that SOCOM and GTA could carry the PSP is weak, as Q1 is already stacked for the PSP and needs no further embellishment, and PF could also be a perfect slot-in for late Nov. as originally scheduled), so I'm thinking the game is being re-tooled.

Here's hoping SCEA sees the potential this game could have with a few tweaks.

They're not exactly blown up. I believe they're dev kit outputs, which are at a higher resolution from the frame buffer (though they're not really "hi-res", same textures and largely the same image.) Scaling them down to PSP-sized isn't necessarily true to what you'll see on the screen either.

after playing more than a few hours, i realized, that this game was abuggy mess with hardcore difficulty. also, later in the game, the controls dont work as good, as in the first mission. one boss fight is about 15 minutes!!! its hard as hell!

It isway too hard, but I didn't notice any major bugs. Except, perhaps, the car handling, which seemed somewhat inconsistent, but I'm not sure whether that was by design or a bug.

Some of the boss missions are ridiculously hard, especially the first one, given that it comes so early in the game. I found it a bit easier once I switched to analogue control, but that might be down to personal preference.

Sorry to bump this thread again, but just stumbled across this Gamespot interview confirming that the difficulty level will be tweaked for the North American release:

We're using the majority of that time to really tune the difficulty of Pursuit Force, as that was one of the main concerns with the European version.

Good news, but makes me regret my purchase of the European version...
