Lola, the puppy who was thrown over a third-story balcony at an apartment complex, has a new home, according to a story at fox10tv.com.

Jim Hall and Bill Cartledge lost their 16-year-old dachshund, Lucky, one year ago and decided it was time to move on.

“We had been talking serious about getting another one, and then her story was just so touching,” Hall was quoted as saying.

The two received the good news they would be the new parents of Lola last week after many letters of recommendation, according to Save a Stray President Stephanie Williamson.

“We received recommendations from friends, different humane societies (including everything) from their daily routine for taking their dogs to the park, the travels they have done with their dogs. So, I just think Lola is going to have a wonderful life,” Williamson said.

Williamson said the group received over 200 applications for the puppy.

Lola was allegedly thrown over a third-story balcony by her owner, Kendria Dexter at Barrington Apartments in Mobile. Dexter was evicted and originally arrested on misdemeanor animal cruelty charges, but those were dismissed by the city in order for the state to file felony charges.

An arraignment for Dexter is set for May 17.

Williamson said there will be a reception at Cafe 615 tonight from 6-8 that will serve as a meet-and-greet for Lola.

I read the bolded and started to get very angry, then felt much better when I read the highlighted part.

Throw the owner off a 9 story balcony. Adjusted for scale.

I don't understand how a person is capable of that sort of cruelty especially to a defenseless animal.

So glad this story has a nice ending.

So happy for the dog, it's adorable <3

What kind of monster do you have to be to throw this adorable dog out of the balcony

We already have a photo of the bitch from the story in this thread but I'd really like it if we had a photo of the bitch from the story.

200 applications? They should just make up horrible stories for all dogs/cats looking for a home and put them in the news. Get lots of people willing to adopt.

i'm sorry but by reading the thread title, all i can picture is the puppy being thrown over the balcony and then somebody catching it saying: "awww, so cute, your coming home with me." lol
