Sure, but there's also something to be said about a game without character selection; Quake 3/Live is this type of game and it therefore seems silly to replace it with a game that is so drastically different mechanically.

i know i will be playing q3 as long as anyone else does, but beth is definitely going to push champions as the quakecon main event from now on. at best they'll host smaller novelty tourneys from time to time for live like they currently do for quakeworld.

i was really expecting to see some kind of qc exhibition match as a finale, but i guess whatever willits' was about to say at the end there was not meant for our stream-watching plebeian ears....
