Quantic Dream's PS4 game is 'something different' from Heavy Rain & Beyond

Call Ellen Page if old

Quantic Dreams' in-development PS4 game is "very different" from Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, according to David Cage.

"The next game is still in pre-production," Cage told Game Informer. "Beyond really took all our attention and resources."

Cage went on to tease more info on the yet-to-be-revealed PS4 project. "We have a small team working on this next-gen project, on the tech, on the concepts and art.

"It's very very exciting, something different from Beyond and Heavy Rain; building on the same grounds, but in a very different way," he teased.

"People should expect to be surprised again, because this is really what we try to do with each game - not give people what they expect, [but] give them something they want maybe without knowing this is what they want," said Cage.

The producer went on to say the developer is "incredibly impatient to start working on it actively".

Quantic Dreams' newest title, Beyond: Two Souls, will release for PS3 on October 8 in US and October 11 in UK. The Beyond: Two Souls demo will be publicly released on October 2, but it's available earlier to those who pre-order the title at GameStop in North America, or GAME in the UK.

They will do a better job than Ninja Theory.

I find myself hoping it's an old-school LucasArts style adventure built around the Dark Sorcerer style of humor and graphics.

Didn't Cage say they've done all the emotional stuff apart from comedy or something like that.

That's what I want.

I really liked the comedy aspect of their tech demo. I hope they will do something similar.

Me too.

Cage has a knack for writing comedy. He clearly struggles with drama though, although I'm hoping that Beyond is an improvement.

I bought Heavy Rain and it literally did not feel like a game at all. Sorry but I stand by my initial opinion.

Heavy Rain felt kind of like a point-and-click adventure to me. That being said, I don't really care if Quantic Dream's works can be labeled as "games." I just want them to be good and to make me feel feelings.

David Cage has stated multiple time that he has no interest in sequels and wants to give people something new every time (and that's why he's my favorite figure from the industry).

Not gonna happen, read his interviews.

Which is ironic as hell since Indigo Prophesy and Heavy Rain seem to share entire environments.

I just want him to make something interesting and serious rather than ripping off the Matrix or Gone Baby Gone.

So...no then. You can be accessible without stripping out what it means to be a video game whole hog.

Doesn't have to be a sequel, could just be a game set in the same universe that branches off from Omikron. All I want is a new game set in that world. So much potential, all of it being wasted because of some silliness.

I hope its something related to the Dark Sorcerer. That looks pretty damn interesting, but I have no idea how they could make a game out of those characters. Would be awesome though.

I know its K instead of C, but that's the first thing that popped into my head.

Can't wait for their first PS4 title since their tech demo looked so good (as did that Kara one).

Also, looking forward to Beyond's release date.

Comedy please. The story of old struggling actor that got transported to underworld and the need to use his wit and acting skill to come back to real world.

Make it whimsy like the discworld novels.

Shoulda been "Page Ellen if old".

Anyway....can't wait to see what they're working on for PS4. Heavy Rain was great and I'm sure Beyond will be a great game too. I hope whatever the PS4 game turns out to be looks as amazing as that Dark Sorcerer tech demo they showed.

You mean... Like an actual game?!
*sigh* People get wittier every single day.

I wish I knew what he was talking about but, it'll probably make me feel emotions. And that's more than a lot of games these days do. And I appreciate it.

I really admire DC and him not giving into mainstream gaming pressure to keep producing sequel after sequel or another shooter. Keep doing what you do DC and ignore the haters.

Can we be friends? I've been feeling so alone, trying to encourage originality and telling devs to go out of their comfort zones and not listen to their 'fans'.

but..I want Kara :(

Didn't he even get actual writer support for this game? Maybe this one will be different from all the previous cage games
