I thought i had this understood, but i'm not sure now.
if a game like final fantasy 15 is "checkerboard 1800p" does that mean the game is natively rendering at 1800p and then the checkerboard is boosting the resolution to a full 4K output? (albeit fake)
or is the checkerboarding boosting a lower native res to 1800p via checkerboarding, and on a 4K screen that output is simply upscaled to fit your screen?
basically i'm confused as to what horizon: zero dawn's native resolution is? DF say it's a checkerboarded 2160p title. now, we all know this thing isn't natively rendering at that. but then what is it rendering at natively? does a game have to render at 1920x2160 to reach full 4K checkerboarded resolution?
Cheers.
