Kind of frustrating to pre-order something and then have it freely available elsewhere a week early. Wonder what the thinking is there?

Anyway, will give the streams a listen later.

Save Me is appropriately named because it adequately describes my emotions after listening to it

[edit] Oh my God, I Had This Thing

No bonus tracks though right?

And lord. Save Me is amazing.

Oh man I had no idea this is coming out. Definitely going to take a bunch of listens after class today, any idea who they have appearing on various tracks, if any? I particularly loved Junior Senior because of all of the artists that helped out with songs.

Waiting until I can have the whole thing, but definitely day one.

I have a hard time nailing down electronic genres, which is semi important to finding new music. Royksopp is the sweet spot for me: highly produced, dense sound, definitely on the dance side but not shallow. The slower stuff is even better, Silver Cruiser kills me.

So if you like Royksopp, can anyone suggest anything similar? Pls respond,GAF.

Currently enjoying: Chrome Sparks, Com Truise, Digitalism, Lone, Take.

Caribou is a little more earthy and a little less poppy, but still rather great, if you don't know him already.

You're right, it's a little more low key, and earthy is a good fit. I had tried Swim but not the new one. Thanks for the suggestion.

Looking for something more electronic as opposed to lo fi, that chunky synth from Do It Again or the main melody from Vision One.

There may only be one answer: new Royksopp :)

Yep I agree that this is AoTY material. Can't wait for the 10th!

Hmm...

If you haven't already, definitely give Purity Ring's "Shrines" a listen. Seems to be a perfect fit to what you're looking for.

It is a perfect fit, unfortunately, or fortunately, I've had the whole album on my phone for awhile. Great pick.

I'm trying out Rate Your Music now, kind of a chore but it will keep my busy until Royksopp drops.
Well if you find anything along those lines do let me know (ᵔ_ᵔ)

Fantastic album. A few duds in there (Rong is horrendous, Compulsion feels a bit like filler), but amazingly solid work throughout. Gets better with repeat plays too.

Susanne Sundfor's solo albums The Brothel and The Silicone Veil are fantastic- I first heard of her from Running to the Sea. Also check out Luomo, The Knife, iamamiwhoami, Austra, Cold Cave, Trust.

Finally getting a chance to listen to this. I've been interupted way too many times while attempting to load the iTunes stream and my take so far:

Amazing:
Compulsion
Sordid Affair
You Know I Have to Go (Oh. My. God.)
I Had This Thing
Here She Comes Again

Like:
Skulls
Monument
Save Me
Running to the Sea
Coup De Grace
Thank You

Trash:
Rong

I can't seem to get some of the other songs to pop up on the iTunes preview so I'll just wait and see if they do. I've run out of skips for now.

A good and a bad news. The last album ever?

We're gonna miss Roy, one of the best duo the world had the pleasure to experienced to

Jamie Irrepressible is all over this thing. Which works; his voice is a good fit for the tone Royksopp is chasing. I like how the tracks are staggered, too, as if Jamie Irrepressible is this crooning undercurrent of melancholia that the listener stumbles back into every other song.

I've only given it one listen so far and my initial impression is that it's pretty damn good, but not quite great. I like this more than Junior/Senior, but nothing tops their first two albums. What the fuck is wrong with Rong, indeed.

I'm so sad I missed them live. When I realized they were touring this year, they had already come to Seattle :(. I also don't know if they ever went to Chile too.

Amazing:
Thank You
Monument
Save Me
Running to the Sea
Goodnite Mr. Sweetheart

Like:
Something In My Heart
Skulls
Sordid Affair
You Know I Have to Go
I Had This Thing
Do It Again (RYXP Version)
Here She Comes Again

Eh:
Compulsion
Rong
Coup De Grace

Just bought this on CD and there's a prologue disc with 5 extra tracks. Didn't know about this.

It has an explicit lyric warning on the cover. How bad is it as my daughter loves the first two albums.

Edit: Ah, Rong - that'll be it....
