It's been a strange two years indeed. Although I think that his death introduced even more people with the genius that was Michael Jackson, it was still one of the saddest days ever.
My favourite album is Off The Wall, by far, with Thriller a close second. I'm not really into his later stuff although there are a lot of great songs on Dangerous and HIStory. It's a shame that his Off The Wall isn't as well known as the others (one of the most underrated multi-million selling records), because it's such an amazing feat that you can create an own style out of nowhere after having a huge success with the Jackson 5 already. The whole Michael Jackson geniality started there, with all the classic Michael Jackson sound effects. Amazing.
There is only one MJ song that can make me cry though and that is Will You Be There. I want that to play at my funeral, with the choir intro, which is beautiful, and obviously the outro were Michael is speaking and touching your heart like no other artist can. That, and a Stevie Wonder song. I cannot meet Michael anymore and he was one of my two heroes and all of this reminds me that I just have to meet Stevie before he or I passes away because it can happen anytime. The thing that both artists have in common is that they're not only amazing musicians, they're amazing and beautiful people that honestly care for the world. And that is what MJ was as well. He transcended normal musicianship, he was a Messiah and a bringer of joy and that is what many people experienced when listening to his music.
And that is why he will be in our hearts forever.
