Rabbits are the most pointless pets ever.

Sea monkeys are more affectionate than rabbits.

That's not true. I had a rabbit as a young boy, and it was fascinating. He was litter box trained and, while we did keep him in an enclosure overnight, during the day and evening, he was free roaming in the house. I bet you didn't know that rabbits make a purring sound when they are very contented and happy, did you? He was also hilarious, because we had a cat, too, and they were babies together, so they grew up non-adversarial. As they got older, the rabbit would get a wild streak and the cat would go crazy chasing him through the house. Once he would catch him, they would go tumbling head over heels together. Frequently, the cat would be taking a nap, and the rabbit would sneak up to him and bite him on the ear to get his attention, and then it would be on! They would play together until the rabbit got tired of it, and when he did, he'd grab the cat with his front paws and dig at his midsection a few times with his back feet, and that would be it; they would go their different ways. I'll have to see if I can find the pictures of them together as babies. It's hilarious. Incredibly, they lived together about 10 years, and died within 2 weeks of each other. I think once the rabbit was gone, the cat died of a broken heart...

Rabbits go into a trance when laid on their back. Has nothing to do with enjoying it.

I doubt there is a rabbit on earth that actually enjoys being wet.

Actually, swamp rabbits are naturally good swimmers and spend a lot of time in the water when escaping predators.

Maaan.

I got my rabbit when my dog was 10 years old (holy clap, can't believe it's been 5 years already) and it was... not easy. My dog got UBER ANXIOUS to the point where he wouldn't sleep, just staring anxiously at my rabbit's cage. My rabbit was so cool with dogs, though, he wouldn't care one bit. Eventually my dog kind of got used to it, and he'd sleep next to the cage when we weren't at home. I never wanted them to interact, though, my dog is not one bit aggressive but I had never seen him so anxious so I never risked having the dog around when my rabbit was outside of his cage. One day I was petting my rabbit and my dog suddenly appeared and introduced his head in the cage - I was terrified! Then he started licking him, and my rabbit loved it! (I still separated them ASAP because, hey, he might had been tasting him :P).

Rabbits are awesome. Not dog-awesome, but still pretty awesome.

What the fuck is this? First of all, if you adopt an animal because it somehow fills a lack of affection in your life, then don't get one. Second, aside from animals that protect livestock or herd, all pets are worthless and are the cause of many problems. For example, we are overpopulated with cats that are devastation our wildlife. Imagine for a moment the entire petcare industry and how it impacts our resources and environment. In my opinion, it's not worth having pets at this stage in our history. The pet industry is just adding to problems that we don't need- overpopulation, animal abuse & neglect, strained resources for the manufacturing of animal food and products and rampant breeding.

Rabbits are prey animals, which is why they are not affectionate towards you. In the wild you, a man, are engineered to hunt and eat them. Rabbits are keenly aware of who are predators and who are prey. Of course, there is no way in hell this will ever happen because we have rights. The right to own animals like property.

If an animal gets oil on its coat you pretty much have to, since you dont want them licking it off.

Rabbits aren't like predator animals. They keep themselves clean, thus there is no need to ever bathe a rabbit. They are actually some of the cleanest animals out there. The only thing a domestic rabbit needs help with his combing, since there is no brush to naturally pull their shedding fur off and trimming of nails. Also, the occasional filing of teeth if the caretaker feeds them pellets instead of what they should be eating, veggies like celery and romaine.

Rabbits really do trance when you put them on their backs. Yes, they're probably scared, but frankly, Rabbits spend like 99% of their lives scared of everything, so I'm not really sure of what way there is to wash your rabbit/cut his nails/etc. without him being scared.

The only problem we had with ours was that he would occasionally chew a little bit on the corner of a chair or something if he didn't have any of his own things to chew on. We had a number of toys for him across the years, but his favorite things were sticks from our apple tree. My Grandad would cut smaller branches off and then cut them into about 4-5 inch pieces, and our rabbit would hold one of them in between his front feet and chew on it like it was a Slim Jim. He was so entertaining!

Because letting an animal run around and lick itself clean of toxic man-made chemicals is a terrific thing to do as an owner?

Rabbits do trance on their back.

There's discussion whether its a 'playing dead' fear response, but either way they become reeeaally still and docile. They are completely awake and aware.

Thing is when baby rabbits nurse from their mother's teat, they also flip on their back in the same manner, so who knows.

Ye gads. It just takes one of these videos and I go on a funny pet video odyssey. Curse you, video end frame suggestions!

Anyway, check out this one here:

Not rabbit or bathing related, but at 1 minute 30 I dare you not to laugh at the cat taking a massive bite of dog candyfloss.

edit: also, capybaras are awesome. Stoners of the animal kingdom.

So much water wasted, don't they have sink stoppers in America?

The sink was plugged. There is a hole at the top of the basin that helps prevent overflow. If we want to go after shameless wastes of water then we have a loooooooot of other things to look at that waste more water than waterboarding a rabbit.

I was gonna say that the rabbit was chillin like a mofo but then people started to talk about it being paralyzed in fear and then I changed my mind.
