1. He's popular on the internet.
2. His female fans can, admittedly, be a bit crazy.
3. His face is kind of weird looking

Unfortunately for his detractors, neither point changes the fact that he is a talented, capable, Academy Award nominated actor.

I thought GAF liked weird faces on male actors.

He set the bar pretty high for himself in Sherlock's first two series and Warhorse. Then has proceeded to be pretty disappointing in most things (Sherlock series 3 probably wasn't much of his fault though given how terrible every other part of it was.)

Personally, i think this is a role he will be able to pull off pretty well.

Disappointing in most things? He was great in Imitation Game, and great in Sherlock 3 as an actor (I loved the whole season, don't know what people have against it). What was he so disappointing in?

So happy to see one of my favorite actresses in a Marvel movie. This cast for Dr. Strange is shaping up perfectly! Now we just need a Mads Mikkelsen confirmation!

And I also don't get the Cumberbatch hate. Didn't even notice he were popular among ladies online.

It begins.

Insane cast. Good for McAdams she finally got over herself and landed one of these roles; she's good, but oddly shies away from the public eye.

For those who don't like Cumberbatch, the best part of his casting in this movie is that Marvel/DC fans can stop suggesting him as every hero and villain under the sun.

Still salty about True Detective wasting her talent. Now I can be cautiously salty about Marvel doing the same.

Seriously. Marvel has ample opportunities to do crazy things with the main female characters in the MCU and then just backs off.

Iron Man 3 gives Pepper Potts powers via Extremis and puts her in a suit only to make it clear these are one-time deals.

Thor: The Dark World has Jane Foster possessed by the Aether for a brief time and doesn't let her do anything with it.

So I doubt they'll do anything that involves keeping her around for more than the one movie.

Oww yeah, this movie is happening. I remember at one point every actor ever got offered the role...seriously how many actors were in talk for the role and why did they go with Cumberbatch? Genuine question. Think Cumberbatch is a good enough actor.

Also, no Notebook gif? Disappointing GAF.

Yeah that was pretty annoying. Now it's Gyllenhaal...they always find a new one.

Did you see the mid/post-credits scene of Ant-Man?

Gyllenhaal? Really? I've only seen one person push for him, and that was me last year for Spidey.

Not as bad as it was Cumberbatch, but Gyllenhaal is starting to get there. Remember how a lot of people wanted him as the next Joker after Nightcrawler? Or the Riddler in one of the Battfleck movies? Just a matter of time really.

This cast is perfect... Except Cumberbatch

almost thought she would be playing doctor strange, which would make me more excited for this. i dislike cumperbatch.

He's the reason I will not watch it.

He's one of those "we need a weird guy but we don't know who to cast" actors. :/

Pretty much. Recast Cumberbun and this film will be perfect.

Cumberbatch is more obvious voice acting to me which gets annoying. He just comes across as really fake with his voices.

Why don't people like Cumberbatch?
Thought people liked him...

He's a great actor, and even though I admittedly barely know anything about Dr. Strange, he just doesn't remind me of the character at all. It's not about disliking Cucumberbundles, it's about the fact that, at least to me, he doesn't seem like a good choice for the character.

Seriously. I hope they give her a meaty role with some agency and independent characterization, instead of a nothing love interest or supporting role.

Apparently the Night Nurse is... just a nurse who helps superheroes? No thanks.

I'm also echoing the dislike for Benedict Cumberbatch. Part of that is because of his fans, and part of it is his role in whitewashing Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness.

You don't like an actor because you don't like some of the people that like him, and also he was cast in a role for a movie that you didn't like.
