Racial hoax causes PR headache for McDonald’s

If this cost McDonalds a lot of money, I would expect them to track down the people who perpetrated the hoax and sue them.

They can't sue them! 4Chan and most of its big members control the planet!

Kinda weird this happened to McDonald's, which is one the most progressive Fortune 500 companies, with one of the youngest African American CEOs. They're also very committed to diversity not just with race but with GLBT issues.

Not a fan of their food, though. Though their fries still rock.

So...

How about that KFC?
It's still terrible. Nothing has changed.

It's all about:

And why would you think any of that mattered to /b/tards when they cooked this up?

Yeah, I just noticed after I wrote this up. Rational behavior is something to throw out the window with stuff like this.

"Blacks" and "a black" both make me wince a bit.

This is hardly the only recent barrage of negative publicity for the burger behemoth--some of it more justified.

More justified than a hoax? Is this an infinity minus one thing?

While obviously deplorable, the upside of this racist hoax is that it's kickstarted the discussion of the best chicken place, something this nation has yet to fully come to terms with.

That happens in any thread on GAF even tangentially related to fast food.

Chik-Fil-A currently is tops for me, although a large part of that is that there's one on campus that I go to when I feel like a chicken lunch.

GAF...I've...I've never been to Popeyes.
*sobs*
I'm sorry!

chick fil a is overrated.

The only good thing about Popeye's were their spicy chicken sandwiches but they got replaced by these lame po'boy imitations.

KFC is just terrible all around.

Oh, you poor bastard. Go now, and treat your self to 2 pieces and a biscuit, with a mess load of spicy fries and a sweet tea. Or a Dr. Pepper. Your choice, really. BUT NOT ON THE BISCUITS OR FRIES.

These are already people who eat at McDonalds.
Fast food prices are pretty ridiculous if you stop and think about it. A large fry costs around $3, which is about the same as a 5 pound bag of potatoes.

Why would saying "blacks" be offensive?
Because usually when I've overheard/read "black's" or "those black's" it has always been something negative. "Those blacks that live down the street are always loud." "Yeah the neighborhood was great until the blacks moved in".

It just sounds negative to me, not saying everyone is offended by it but I prefer "black people" or 'African-American".

Does anyone even say "whites"?

Dehumanizing maybe?

When you say Africans.. or Europeans.. or Americans.. or any actual nationality or location it's clear you are talking about a group of human beings... as opposed to "black people".. or "African Americans."

There's a lot of sensitivity involved.. nothing really wrong with that considering history.

I don't think most people are offended by Black or Blacks though at this point.. as the intent is usually fairly clear to simply identify people, and not disparage them, be negative towards them, or dehumanize them in any way. It's more of an abbreviation for most people.

obviously it's bad when you attach a derogatory term. I'm just talking about when describing somebody

is it offensive for police reports to have "white male" and "black male", for example?

No red beans and rice or dirty rice recommendation? For shame. You fail @ Popeyes.

Also a good recommendation. But the fries were so good they got called out by The Clipse. Has the red beans and dirty rice ever got called out by The Clipse? Huh? No?

Then hush up.

I just personally don't like the term "blacks".
