Smoke died?
Yeah, I think
Sindel killed him.
Scorpion also survives, I believe.
Technically Scorpion is undead. Doesn't he get his soul taken by Quan Chi?

Lol at Kotal Khans x ray... is basically a fatality already!
How on earth could any of you think the thread title was talking about Raiden when we're talking about MORTAL KOMBAT
Smh
Dude, I already knew about the lightning god fighter in Mortal Kombat (the only difference is I pronounce their names differently to avoid confusion). It's just that "Jack the Ripper" Raiden came to my mind first, that's all.I know right?
Kids these days..
Why do the 3D Mortal Kombats always seem to have terrible models and animation

Wouldn't be an MK thread without ppl bitching about the animations. Even when they make improvements it's never enough.
I didn't notice at first, but Raiden has a really big character model.
He is almost the same size as Kotal in that video, and that dude is like a head above everyone else.
Kotal Kahn sounds, fights, and looks like he would make a great MK boss.
Hyped for the big bad of this MK when he didn't make the cut.
Has Raiden always been labeled the thunder god? Doesn't seem right considering he's lightning.
Yeah i agree
doesn't matter if the Animation where butter people would still complain about it, like its some sort of trend

I quite like the throw ender inda trap gawdStorm Lord variation. The shock at the end of it that propels Kotal across the ground is satisfying to look at.
Am I stupid in thinking it was Metal Gear Raiden upon first glance?
Not at all, I'm being legitimately befuddled by people's willingness to accept one thing over the other based purely on the way a move is presented.
"Why is A acceptable but B isn't?"
"Because of the tone and the way it's presented"
"But it's still really brutal and would kill"
"But the way it's presented makes you not take the things on screen seriously so you don't think they're gonna be killed/hurt by these things"
I don't understand the line of thinking. Maybe I'm misinterpreting your point but this is what I gather from it and it baffles me.
Ya, it's probably my favorite attack of his.

Not to speak for anyone else, but for me personally, the x-ray moves seem a bit out of place because it's in such contrast to how that level of violence is usually presented in these games.
Usually when that level of graphic detail is shown in an MK it results in the death of the character. You could say that other games do have moves which are also violent enough to kill people and you'd be absolutely right, however it's the presentation that causes this sort of contrast to me.
For example in Marvel Deadpool has a move where he whips out guns and fires a ton of shots while yelling bang over and over. In real life this would clearly kill a person but it's presented in a cartoon way where a bullet has about as much force as any other hit.
If each bullet was presented the same way as say the bullet in Shang Tsung's Clown fatality and then the other guy got up like nothing happened it would cause a similar sort of out of place contrast.
