I still chuckle everytime I read that his brother is Lanny Poffo (aka Leaping Lanny Poffo).

RIP Randy Savage. May you send us flying elbow drops from heaven.
Enjoy the afterlife, legend.

I never wanted to jump into the screen and kill someone like I did back in '86 when Savage took out Ricky Steamboat's throat on the guardrail - and that incident was my introduction to the world of kayfabe.
RIP Macho Man. A sad day.![]()

Back in this guy's heyday I was 7-10 years old so I every time a grown-up told me it was fake I thought they were just messing with me like when they told me my eyes would stay crossed if I crossed them too much. It was real to me dammit. I cheered him on when he was a face, and booed the hell out of him when he was the heel only to cheer him on again when he turned back to face.Amir0x said:I always thought the fake wrestling was crap, but it's always sad when someone who entertained probably lots of people is killed. R.I.P., Randy Savage.

When I finally did realize it was fake in about 94 or so I stopped watching, but those guys entertained me a whole lot on the TV prior to that.

Whether he was in the ring or talking to the camera, Randy was amazingly good at being a living comic book hero. The voice, the demeanor, the costumes, he was bigger than "real" life in ways that few entertainers of any kind could ever hope to match.Amir0x said:I always thought the fake wrestling was crap, but it's always sad when someone who entertained probably lots of people is killed. Maybe if you stopped thinking of it as "fake" wrestling and started looking at it as a live stunt show brilliantly executed by funny and lovable characters like Macho Man you'd be able to find some enjoyment of it too.
