Me too. I liked it very much though, so no sad face from me.flipping_heck said:VIII
the only one i played.. for shame![]()
The PS2 version of 5 was fantastic. The DS one didn't hook me quite as much, but granted one's coming in English and the other's not, so...Error said:I wonder if the DS version of 5 will bump it up a few notches.
My biggest complaint with 5, was the 3 party member setup... specially since I played 3 and 4 immediately before it. it was just jarring to me.
I put about a hundred hours into it and didn't even reach the second disk.Jiggy said:All the things I've read about its length make me want to hold off until a portable version, but maybe if there's ever a drought of new game releases that I want and I need something to give a shot to...
Preach it. Preach it often and all over the place.discoalucard said:...the only one I actively dislike is VII. Never played an RPG that so actively disrespected the player's time.

Paraphrasing somebody earlier in the thread, it's tough to rank perfection! A "bad" Dragon Quest game is still 10/10.epmode said:I find 8 to be much better than many of you give it credit for. The presentation is delicious and I like the over-the-shoulder overworld.

Well, I came to play a game and VII is an insult to the rest of the series quick paced journeys and battles. Talking to townspeople for six hours and getting one hour of a dungeon and battles is just stupid, in my opinion. I can start a new game of DQ I, finish it for the 50th time and still enjoy it before you get into your first battle in DQ VII. That's a fucking problem.
The parts of the game you actively play are good. There's just far too much non-active parts. The little stories between towns are great, but that's pretty much the focus of the game. I'd rather be fighting monsters, leveling up, collecting treasures, mastering classes, etc.Error said:Princess Skittles fails, DQ7 is awesome. Too bad for her.
Which were pretty much the majority of my 140 hours in the game, I don't know what you were doing.Princess Skittles said:The parts of the game you actively play are good. The battles themselves are speedy. You just have to sludge through miles of molasses to get to them.RevenantKioku said:This isn't DQ8's slow battles. 7 was very speedy.
I think someone replaced this lady's copy of DQ7 with Xenosaga. Someone get her on 20 CCs of something, stat.Princess Skittles said:The battles themselves are speedy. You just have to sludge through miles of molasses to get to them.
Dragon Quest VII was my absolute most anticipated game (and possibly my only anticipated game) of the PS1 era, so I know what I played and I know how disappointed I was by it. You like, I get that. It just didn't click for me. I got the import of the DQ IV remake when it came out and THAT made me remember why I loved the series (plus the GBC games around the same time).RevenantKioku said:I think someone replaced this lady's copy of DQ7 with Xenosaga.
