DH1
Half-Blood Prince
The Order of the Phoenix
Goblet of Fire
The Sorcerer's Stone
Chamber of Secrets

I really find them all quite boring.

Not trying to thread shit or rain on anyone else's parade.. I just do. Tried watching the first couple years ago and gave up.. recently got a great deal on the complete Blu-Ray set and marathoned them all. I had trouble even paying attention most of the way.

They are just so simple.. they kind of rub me the wrong way too.

Wierd, I was just thinking about this morning

3,4,1,5,6,7,8,2

Harry Potter is better when it's about kids going to crazy magic school and is significantly less good when it's about kids trying to raise an army to take on a boogieman.

I love seeing all this Azkaban love, seriously my favorite HP movie. Nothing comes close.

The others can be in any order after it.

Azkaban >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> DH1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The Rest

Prisoner of Azkaban > Sorcerer's Stone > Goblet of Fire = Order of the Phoenix = Chamber of Secrets > Deathly Hollows Part 2 > Deathly Hollows Part 1 > Halfblood Prince

Halfblood Prince was just awful. I have no other words to describe but that they tried to make it Twilight.

Deathly Hallows Part 1 (so beautiful! Gorgeous cinematography and best mood)
Prisoner of Azkaban
Goblet of Fire (I loved the rom-com vibes it had)
Deathly Hallows Part 2
Order of Phoenix
Half-Blood Prince (way too long, although the finale is great)
Philosopher's Stone
Chamber of Secrets (forgettable)

Bonus for all Hannibal lovers on Gaf: fantastic vid with Will Graham and Harry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7Ifi67r3n8

Deathly Hallows pt 2
Azkaban
Order of the phoenix
Deathly Hallows pt 1
Half Blood Prince
Goblet of Fire
Chamber of Secrets
Sorcerer's Stone

It's been too long for me to remember them enough to rank them, but I remember really disliking Goblet of Fire. It was probably my least favorite book (at the time it premiered) and the movie felt really all over the place in terms of character personalities and how they crammed all the events together. Harris's Dumbledore was really missed in that movie.

That's because Newell only knows one way to direct "drama" and that is EVERYBODY SCREAMS!

It's pretty obvious with Dumbledore when you compare him to the other movies. His presence alone is commanding, and he lets things like huge doors do the talking for him, unlike in GoF.

3. Prisoner of Azkaban
6. Half Blood Prince
8. Deathly Hollows 2
5. Order of the Phoenix
7. Deathly Hollows 1
4. Goblet of Fire
2. Chamber of Secrets
1. Sorcerer's Stone

Haven't seen them recently enough to do an honest ranking but I recently rewatched DH1 and 2 and can safely say DH2 is complete garbage. Unnecessary changes that hurt the story immensely,
most notably Harry's reappearance at Hogwarts
, and the tone of the film just feels so wrong compared to how dark the book was.

Azkaban is a pretty good movie, but a terrible adaptation. You can say that about a lot of the Potter films, but Azkaban leaves out crucial information that actually torpedoes plot points in subsequent movies. Some really weird choices in that one.

Deathly Hallows 2 > Half-blood Prince > Deathly Hallows 1 > Prisoner of Azkaban > Goblet of Fire > Sorcerer's Stone > Chamber of Secrets > Order of the Phoenix

Aside from some small issues here and there, I thought DH2 was surprisingly great, and HBP and DH1 were both pretty good. Everything else is varying degrees of bad to me though, and I say this having just re-read the whole series and re-watched all the movies a couple months ago. The child acting is so bad it brings even Alan Rickman down in the early movies, Daniel Radcliffe is awful the whole way through, and don't even get me started on the shitfest that is Order of the Phoenix. I've read each of the books dozens of times, know them inside and out, and I was still confused by what was happening in that movie.

1. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

My favorite one, I've never read the books but this and the first film both had a sense of wonder about them that the later films lost, when watching the first two I felt like I was actually at Hogwartz. I also really loved the whole mystery behind finding the Chamber.

2. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

The only newer film to somewhat capture the essence of the first two films. I liked how Voldemort became front and center and I liked a lot of the characters that were introduced in this one.

3. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Solid film, quite entertaining. Don't really remember any faults, and I liked how it started the trend of the films really becoming dark.

4. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Great movie has some pacing issues, but I loved how it actually felt like you were going through a year at Hogwarts.

5. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Was actually my favorite when I was a kid but after marathoning all the films a year ago it dropped in my opinion, not so much because of the film itself, but how it affected the rest of the series. The film felt very barren and moved almost too quickly. This was pretty jarring especially considering the pace of the first two films. I also hate how they killed of the uniforms with this one.

6. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2

I feel as though the last few films deviated way too much from the originals and this one just solidifies it. Felt more like an action movie then a whimsical movie about wizards.

7. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Too boring, focused way too much on the relationships and nothing of note really happens until the end.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

Despise this one. Was trying way to hard to be edgy, and the scenes with them running through the forest takes up like half of the film.

I dont understand the love for Azkaban

It took what were extremely faithful reproductions, and threw it out the window for some flashy style.

It made it so that from them on, everyone wore regular clothing, all the subplots disappeared, and all the cool back-stuff was paved over. Like, really important stuff necessary for future movies was completely eliminated.

Prisoner
Order of the phoenix
Deathly 2
Deathly 1
HBP
Philosophers
Chamber
Goblet

Bottom 3 arent even that bad, 1 and 2 get carried by the supporting actors to make up for the young kid actors and goblet is just a bad adaptation of the book and a bit of a mess plot wise.

1. Half Blood Prince
2. Prisoner of Azkaban
..
3. Deathly Hallows Part 1
4. Deathly Hallows Part 2
..
5. Goblet of Fire
6. Order of the Phoenix
7. Sorcerer's Stone
..
8. Chamber of Secrets

There could be some swapping there. The first two movies are incredibly boring and sterile to me. The HP movies really started getting good with the third.

1>2>>the rest. They got really boring in the middle there.

1. Prisoner of Azkaban
2. Half-Blood Prince
.
.
3. Order of the Phoenix
4. Deathly Hallows 1&2
5. Sorcerer's Stone
6. Chamber of Secrets
.
.
7. Goblet of Fire

Honestly, they're all good for what running time they had and the amount of content they had to cut but I absolutely despise two movies in particular:

Complete BULLSHIT that they had to make the longest Harry Potter book in to the shortest Harry Potter movie. So much material to work with and yet they cut Quidditch out entirely, no St. Mungo's which means no Kenneth Branagh back as Lockhart, no brain room, the list goes on and on.

The same goes for Goblet of fire, but mostly because of this:

I just had to fight back the urge to ruin the class I'm in by laughing out loud at that gif. God, that guy was a horrible Dumbledore.

To be honest, I feel a big part of this was the actor change. Richard Harris was much, much more like the actual Dumbledore, he really captured the character. I love Michael Gambon, but he never quite seemed to "get" Dumbledore. Though, to be fair, the director and writers should have steered him in the right direction.

1. Order of the Phoenix
2. Deathly Hallows Part 2
3. Goblet of Fire
4. Half Blood Prince
5. Prisoner of Azkaban (Generally interchangable with the two above it)

6. Deathly Hallows Part 1
7. Philosopher's Stone
8. Chamber of Secrets

Prisoner
Half Blooded Prince
(honestly its a toss up between these 2 alot)

Deathly Part 2
Deathly Part 1
goblet of fire
Order
Chamber of Secrets
Stone

Ugh, they tried to make a powerful confrontation scene but it doesn't work at all.

By having Snape find Harry prior to his encounter with Nagini, he should be making an effort to show his true colors rather than putting on a grumpy face and running away.

Overall I enjoy the two parts as a whole, but so many questionable changes and plot holes (relative to these movies only) abound.

1. Goblet of Fire
2. Philosopher's stone
3. Prisoner of Azkaban
4. Deathly Hallows part 2

5. Chamber of Secrets
6. Deathly Hallows part 1
7. Deathly Hallows
8. Order of Phoenix

Yup. GoF was bad.

Can't believe the love for Azkaban....it was critically acclaimed at the time even....I can't stand it. It lost some of the charm and colour of the earlier films for me, massively abbreviated some important parts, and well....I know it's a small thing.....but no one tucked their shirt in or did their tie up properly, and frankly that annoys me.

I always dread the reveals in the
Shrieking Shack
, they are intentionally trying to mislead the audience and it's cringe worthy every time.

I haven't seen Azkaban since when I was a kid, but I strongly disliked how they compressed the timeline and ended things what, halfway through the school year?

I liked Deathly Hallows Part 1 the most and Deathly Hallows Part 2 the least.

Seriously, DH2 was complete garbage. It was fan fiction crap, and considering the source material being the last third of the book, that says a lot.

Prisoner of Azkaban is shit. I don't how you guys liked that movie.

Sorcerer's stone is the best in the franchise.

best - azkaban, deathly hallows part 1. both really cool, cleverly directed takes on the universe.
worst - goblet of fire.
everything else is just kinda okay, good production values and supporting actors, middling storytelling.

Agreed with you man. HP3 and HP7.1 are great, but good lord HP4 was by far the worst movie in the series. Just pisses me off thinking about it ugh.

HARRYDIDYOUPUTYOURNAMEINTHEGOBLETOFFIRE

4 is my favourite book and my least favourite movie. I kind of understood why they did the maze the way they did (more scary and atmospheric), but the riddles/challenges were my favourite part of it.

1 and 2 are so long ago I don't quite remember them.

3 ended on a freeze frame, and I think they spent too much time in civilian clothes rather than robes, but it tried to do something different.

Nothing really stood out about 5, 6, or DH 1/2 for me.
