You complain because the games are expensive compared to Rare Replay being worth like $1 a game. Then you want MS to port GTA for $10.

Your argument is all over the place, like just random non sense.
 
I don't think they're comparable. A lot of games are really, really old in Rare Replay and they look just as they did before more or less, albeit with some borders.

15 bucks for Vice City upscaled, with trophies and in the most convenient format possible for me right now is a steal.

Too high for you? Don't buy it. Pretty easy decision.

Some people are acting or want this to be the thing that turns gamers against Sony. Lol it won't This initiative won't help or hurt them really. It'll make them some money. That's about it.

After tomorrow people will go on with their lives.
 
They're old games and it cost money to put them on PS4. They need to make a return.

You have the PS2 disc which was made for the PS2 system. Use it on that system.

I don't see the problem with what they're doing.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about backwards compatibility (I'm an expert), but achievements and transferability are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in current gen where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you overcharge for a PS2 game, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the general public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase PS2 games for PS4, nor will they purchase any PS Classics for any PS system. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Sony has alienated an entire market with this move.

Sony, publicly apologize and announce PS2 Playback for PS4 with 30 games for $30, or you can kiss your business goodbye.

There is no damn sense on why one game has to be 15 and another 10. They are basically admitting to ripping you off in saying oh we know you want it. One and we can make more money. They are acting like a damn ebay seller.

People will be enjoying them cleaned up classics. Having fun.

It's like a playground of kids acting up until the teachers come around. Once the games release, this vitriol will be mute. Most of us will be too busy enjoying games.

Sony could have had all of us happy easily and sales sky rocketing.

It isn't just their polices and sales they are hurting.


They are hurtimg the future selection of the service. I would like nothing more than a huge selection and to buy hundreds of games but all of that is being hammeres down. They definitely will lose sales and impact going this route.

No one is winning in this situation.

Sony themselves made a video against Microsoft with game sharing. I don't see this comparison as anything worse. Sony is being fake compared to pregen. Just sucks.

I'm buying Rogue Galaxy tomorrow. Don't have the disc anymore, haven't played it in like 10 years, and its in 1080p with trophies. $15 feels reasonable to me, especially since physical copies are expensive.

People need to grow the fuck up past throwing out entitled every time someone criticizes something. You can definitely disagree, but at least form a cogent argument beyond "you don't like thing? You're entitled!" This is especially true for consumer issues stuff. My initial response is also that the prices are too high. That said, if the games really do look/run considerably better, maybe they're not such a rip off.

Issue is: precedent has been set. Sony's biggest competitor is not making you rebuy games you already purchased to play them on a newer system

Actually they've announced 3 RPGs so far - Dark Cloud, Rogue Galaxy, and Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits. Arc wasn't mentioned in the blog post but it's in the promo video.
 
Another thing, my local pawn shop that would still sell PS2 games. Right now Vice City is selling for €18. SA is €15 and Twisted Metal is €15. Physical copies. Paying that for upscaled digital copies with all the added stuff is perfectly fine for me.

We still have vr and other classics to possibly go through. At this rate, might as well get two jobs with new Sony.
 
I think it's good that publishers can expect some return for participating in Sony's backwards compatibility. Building a self sustaining program will mean more games at a faster rate if release. If the games run well I plan on supporting it.

I hate the idea that just because these games are old they're worthless.

Exactly. Thankfully there are about 4-5 games on that list that I'll get for sure. There will always be a game that will make someone buckle.

And you're right once people realize they aren't being forced and don't have to buy these if they feel they are to high they'll go on with their lives.

I also think after PSX in general and whatever Sony announces will make gamers who are upset at this move on.

Yes, the precedent was set about 100 years ago when recordings switch from wax cylinders to vinyl, forcing everyone to rebuy their music collections.

Don't want to rebuy something, don't rebuy it.

It's a poor man's FF12. It's a good game, but it basically does nothing better. I feel like the only reason people hold it to high regard is that it was localized so late on the PS2's life.

The only thing that has me bummed is that my ps2 classics from ps3 don't carry over. Aside from that I'm pretty excited to see what they bring over. Some folks may get upset over the price, but good luck finding some of those games cheaper physically these days and playing them on a ps2. And I'm speaking as someone who still has a ps2 and continues to collect those games.

I'm not saying people shouldn't be a bit upset though, but some folks are making a way bigger deal out of it than it deserves.

Interesting. I am winning in this situation. I get to play older games, that now look better and have trophies.

How are we not winning? Why am I excited about playing my PS2 games on my PS4?

The fact you can continue to play the stuff you already own seems like a great benifit to the investment people made in their 360 library.


Sony doubling down on scumbagness with no disc based playback AND telling the people who invested in PS2 classics on psn already to go take a hike should be called out for the crap that it is.


Heck. It isn't just a MS did it better thing. Sony themselves has been promoting cross buy for emulated games for a decade now and now they change their mind. Its a dirty move
 
I attempted to play Rare Replay, and a lot of those games are just really damn old and not even worth booting up IMO

I tried to play conker and was just like 'no, I'm not having fun, best to remember it for what it was back then'

I could just also not be a RARE fan at all outside of Donkey Kong and Golden Eye

Idk.....trading it in towards Mario maker for my niece and nephew

As far as what Sony is doing? Sorry you feel the way you do OP, I'm just grateful for the opportunity to spend the money if I want to, to play some of those games
