Insomniac doesn't like money.

Trophies should be mandatory for the Platinum-releases. Like the Platinum sales ? Well, get your asses to work on a trophy patch.

Ok, so you have two programmers opening an 'old code base' implementing trophies during two weeks, then internal QA during another two weeks
(Depends on how the trophies are earned) then localization two more weeks (Think on all the SCEE languages),send it to SCEA,SCEE and SCEJ for approval... another two weeks!
And remember all that while you are developing the new Ratchet and Clank!

So 2 months of development (Dont forget the budget!) .. who can make that 10 people buy a 1 1/2 or 2 year old game.
So it was worth it ?

This is great news, I knew it was coming from Q4B but finally announced is even better. I loved ToD as it was my first R&C game.

Why do trailers have to be announced before it's shown. Why can't we be surprised anymore. I hate waiting for everything.

And that is taking a portion of the staff working on the pre-production cycle of a title (i.e. Resistance 3) or the staff working on the full fledged production cycle of a title (i.e. A Crack in Time).

Ask Naughty Dog.
Naughty Dog isn't releasing a new full fledged title every year. They have both the time and resources to accomplish going back and implementing trophies. Insomniac Games does not, due to the schedule and organization in which they conduct the development on their games.

After the debacle of no trophies for Quest for Booty (It was a really nice game though) and the disaster that was R2, I guess it's time to give Insomniac another chance. Can't wait for this game. Hope they don't let me down.

And let's not forget that R2 needs some support too, they've released a pretty big patch and a map pack a few days ago and some other stuff must be in the way.

Well, maybe Insomniac should go BACK to releasing ONE full fledge title every year.

It's as if Quest For Booty took QA away from Resistance 2. I hope for A Crack in Time that we're not getting a mini Resistance this summer.

Very true.

Though it took more than four months to be released and there's still technical issues with the multiplayer component that will hopefully be resolved.

I've been a fan of Insomniac Games for quite time, and even I thought they dropped the ball a bit in terms of the support and polish for Resistance 2.

However, that is a separate issue entirely...

I've a feeling that the creation of the North Carolina studio was to have a separate entity that could create "smaller" titles without affecting the full fledged releases.

Though I've personally always wondered what would happen if Insomniac Games spent an extra year of development time on their titles. What they accomplish with a year of pre-production and a year of full blown production is impressive (sans some of the glitches found in R2). It'd be a bit of bummer to have to wait longer, but it'd be worth it in the long run if it truly improved the overall polish and quality of their games.

Ask Naughty Dog, Epic, Housemarque, Bluepoint, DICE, Criterion, Rockstar, etc.

(btw, I rewrote some of my reply while you were writing yours, please edit)
I edited my post.

I have honestly never played a "not fun" Ratchet game. They always deliver as it's their baby it seems.

That said, I wish these guys would create a "Dead Rising-esque" game with heavier Action RPG elements to it next instead of another Resistance title though. I think these guys can pull off something spectacular with that if they'd apply their humor to everything in there, and say, base it in an amusement park. So much potential for something like that I think. :P

An RPG done by Insominac would be awesome.
(Tough they will need more than 1 year of development :3)

Debacle??? Disaster???

Man, you got t tone it down dude.

Yeah, we should be having A Crackin' Time in this thread, not bitch about the lack of trophy patches. We've already had those discussions a long time ago.

I don't want to play another safe R&C sequel. I hope they have a lot of new ideas for the next game in the series.

I agree. Tod and Q4B were great games but Crack in time will need another hook to get me to buy it. I'd like some more levelling options rather than just weapons. Maybe new abilities, vehicles, I dont know.... something.

Ratchet & Clank Weapons Contest Opens Today!
One final post from Insomniac from GDC. We wanted to make sure you guys checked out the site for the weapons contest and you’ll be happy to know that submissions are open as of today! As we mentioned yesterday, the Grand Prize winner will have their weapon included in Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time as part of Ratchet’s arsenal, will be given a life-size replica of the weapon, and will win a trip to San Diego Comic-Con to meet with the dev team and reveal the winning weapon to the public there!

How many hours left?

Uncharted 2 just blew me away, lets see what Insomniac can do

"GameTrailers TV" airs on Spike TV at 1 am (EST) tonight.

About 2 and a half more hours to go.

Reading the 1up thread reveals that this games original subtitle was apparently Clock Blockers. I think i'll be referring to it as that from now on.

WOW :lol

That would be the best fucking subtitle ever.

Can't wait for this to come out.

I still need to buy quest for booty. I will do it this weekend .. or maybe next.

It would be sweet if they are able to create a weapon called clock blockers that stopped time or something like that, since the game is based around "time". Best weapon and weapon name ever.

Short, but effective.

Believe that character was one of the "lombaxes."

Ratchet's not shown, but he could very well be the individual being spoken to.

Am I just insane for actually knowing some part of the Ratchet and Clank plot? it could just be another Lombax from the past before they were all gone. After all, this is a time travel based games from the sounds of things.

sushhhh You'll crush my dreams of Ratchet finding another Lombax

TOD is probably the best platformer this gen.

Not even close, the game has terribly basic platforming and mechanics.

Three platformers that are easilly vastly superior to the 'platforming' in R&C

Super Mario Galaxy
Little Big Planet
Banjo XBLA

EDIT: SMH

Or Ratchet could have somehow traveled to the other dimension where the "lombaxes" currently reside, based upon what was revealed in Tools of Destruction.

@1upyours: "some space exploration"

ooh I wanted some stuff like that, it'll probably be quite shallow but the things they said were pretty cool. Some more open levels. Glad they listened! :D
