Why the fuck do you post in PS3 threads? Everyone knows you're a fanboy and nobody cares about your biased opinion, I doubt you even played the demo. Get a hobby and stop spamming PS3 threads.

sorry but are you blind? R+CFTOD looked like a uprezed ps2 game. One of my biggest disappointments in gaming ever. It well and truly underdelivered in the visuals department.

I'm not saying the game is the best looking game around, but a Ps2 game really?

I think the game looks pretty damn good.

More arena fights in the next Ratchet game, please.

R&C 3 still has the most epic arena fights. imo

I'm now collecting raritanium for the Gold Grovitron. And I wished more levels were like Sargasso. Loved that place.

I know this is a very stupid question on my part but I'll ask anyway. I love platformers and this series and I'm thinking of getting this as my first PS3 game. I figure its the best thing out now for me to enjoy. So are the platforming elements in the game really there are?

It has a mix of "straight forward" platforming with a lot of shooting.

It's not a platformer in the sense that Mario Galaxy is a paltformer, but if you like platformers i think you will like this game.

It's a very polished, good looking game. It's fun.

LOL @ sensitive r+C fanboys. I posted in this thread way early on when I got this game. It was underwhelming. It just doesn't look super impressive. Better than uncharted?

:lol :lol :lol

lol @ high and mighty uncharted warrior

hey at least OUR game can maintain a good framerate and not tear constantly

also a lot of the texture work in Ratchet blows Uncharted out of the water, seriously

Ratchet wallpaper I made last night.
Oh my GOD. Thank you!

Meridian City is seriously one of the most impressive levels I've ever seen in a console game, probably the most impressive. So much shit going on in the background, tons of flying vehicles and explosions, absolutely insane geometry, great texture work, my jaw dropped... I can't think of a more impressive level for a game that's been released on consoles. And all running at a glorious 60 fps I might add..

Isis was also amazing... the sky especially, with all the blue waves and particle effects.

Agreed.

I love uncharted but a lot of textures are drawn with so much fine detail that they shimmer.... It gets tiresome visually because of the lack of variety, too. I was so delighed when i got to the church and saw a change from the ruin/jungle/dank cave mixture that had been prevalent. The areas by the dock was awesome too,

Overall though I'd pick ratchet above uncharted.

I hope against hope ND are making a Jak game.... Hell... just build it with the insomniac engine if it saves time.

I want another Jak from from ND but i do agree if they could use insommiac engine that shit would be sex. But didn't they share engines during the PS2 days? If they did maybe a higher chance of them doing it then generation.

Why are people having a ratchet vs uncharted argument? They both own graphically and are on the same system, can't they live in harmony?

People argue about what game is better then another all the time. I think both are great and each have their strengths. With many here, everything is black and white. There are few, if any, shades of grey. You just have to get used to it.

Dude that is fucking awesome I am going to use it as my wallpaper with the Ratchet THEME! :D

Thanks, glad you like it. I would make a Ratchet theme, but there's already one on the PS Store, so no need, just wanted this new wallpaper :)

I'm on the 3rd planet, i'm having a really fun time with this game actually.

I love the amount of stuff always happening, scenes get really chaotic but they never get out of hand.

I don't know what it is, but i'm liking this game a lot even though i didn't like the previous ones.

Well Brian Algier and others from Insomniac have said that this R&C series on PS3 is kind of a reset for the whole franchise, (which could explain how you could like it without liking the previous games as much,) and one of their goals was to have this game act as an entry point for new players. In other words, they took steps tp insure that with this new platform, they weren't just going to appease the core fanbase, they were going to try to make new fans.

As an longtime fan, I think they did it right. They didn't lose me, (because there's still plenty enough stuff for longtime players of the franchise) but they certainly did do a lot to bring some of my friends who never were into the games into the fold.

Ratchet & Clank Future was my first R&C game, I think it was a great game (apart from the spaceship parts bleh)

I had a good time w/ the game but my personal feeling is that the series should die. Create a new IP. No more Ratchet sequels for the Insomniac crew, I say.

Wholeheartedly agree, unless they come up with some total reinvention of the game, it shoud die. It's a shame though seeing as how
the ending totally begs for a sequel

I beat it yesterday. I hate how the areas are barren when you return to them, but if you keep dying you keep racking up experience and bolts and raritanium. It rewards failure.

Time to get 1,000,000 Raritanium

WOOOO! Finally beat the game, I went on to the challenge mode. Now I have a question. Can I start the story over with all the weapons and upgrades? Also still missing a few pieces for the Rhyno Gun.

Also, The Smuggler character made me dream of a new Oddworld using the Ratchet & Clank engine. :drool

So how do I go through the story mode again? Or are you talking about just going through all the levels in challenge mode?

Finished this game. My favorite platformer so far, I prefer it over mario galaxy.

Love the RROD joke Insomniac put it the robots convo.:lol

This reminds me, I really need to take a picture of that awesome poster now that it's actually hanging where it should be hanging.

You won one from JS right, at least I think it was you.

Give us a snapshot AA!

The R&C TOD one. That real pretty one. I'll try to remember to take a picture later.

Mine isn't either, which suits me just fine. This isn't a collectible as such, it's a beautiful piece of art.

I'm now at the final boss (I'm guessing) of the game and he's by far harder than any other "boss" you've had to fight thus far. They really ratchet (pun intended) the difficulty up on him - gave up in frustration last night.

However, I adore this game. I didn't even finish the last R&C on PS2 because I just got bored with it - felt like one too many retreads - but something about this one feels fresh and fun. Sure, it's probably a combination of the visuals and everything, but it just felt like a wild romp and I never felt like any one level or task lasted too long and because belabored.

The game is absolutely gorgeous. I got this and Uncharted both for Christmas and I honestly think I prefer R&C's visuals because they're so rich and vibrant and there is sometimes just so much madness going on on screen that I'm awe-struck.

Anyway, really can't wait for another one. I love the style of the game, it really makes me wish Naughty Dog were working on a Jak & Dakster game for the PS3 - this style looks really cool when done properly this gen.

I thought it was a touch longer than it should have been, but overall it's still a must-have. I was and am incredibly impressed with the game...even more than Resistance.

Spending a little extra time leveling your weapons over the course of the game always pays off in R&C, in my experience.

If you level up that little robot/drone guy, he will smack the shit out of your enemies. He's also very funny.

I also just bought this. I really appreciate the complete English localization included on the Japanese disc.

I really love playing through this kind of super slick, polished production. 60fps makes this game, just makes it. I don't know what it is, but in the last generation, on a CRT, I never really cared about fps, but on a big, bright HDTV, playing games in 60 fps just blows me away. Add to that the fact that R&C is full 720p, has beautiful art, zero tearing and even antialiasing, and this is really the most polished game I've ever seen.

Finished this and Uncharted recently (two must-have's for every PS3 owner).
A couple of quick phone-cam snaps:

Dude. You're not flattering the game at all. Great that you're enthusiastic, but seriously, stuff like that gets recycled as trolling material.

What the hell are you talking about? Those shots look amazing.

I bought R&C:ToD on day one and the game was my first R&C experience. As much of a huge fan I was for Resistence (Also the first online game I've ever played and still think it's better than CoD4's MP), I found the game dissappointing. The graphics were gorgeous, but the gameplay was just boring. I'm not sure what R&C is all about, but I'm guessing platforming and shooting? The shooting was there, but where was the platforming? Nothing creative about it and I think that's what dragged the game down for me.

I'm not sure I'll buy the next R&C, unless there's a lot of thought put into the platforming, but I'll definately be there on day 1 for Resistence 2.
