My only concern is that this might mean we won't get another full ratchet game in fall of 09. Oh please let there be another full game in 09!

They could just release these in packs every 8 months. Then combine 3 and release on disc after. It's a hella bargain when u consider the length vs cost.

I do wonder about the 4hr thing. Doesn't this game have online play? Should be longer.

So it's 4 hours for 15 dollars... and that's all right with GAF?

How time have changed ; just because it looks pretty doesn't mean shit.

......... a lot of full retail Next Gen games are only 6-7 hours long, so this is actually better bang for your buck then....... Game X that takes 6-7 hours.

I've an request for insomniac. Put the "hard" mode from the start, please! Ratchet TOD being too easy ruined the experience

This looks really good. Will definitely buy.

And folks, we're getting a fully fledged expansion that is stand alone here. It deosn't even require the original game. 4 hours is more than enough for a 15 dollar price tag. You think those looks/sounds cost nothing? This is an awesome thing they didn't even have to do to begin with.

60/15 = 4.

4*4 = 16 hours.

That would be generous for many next-gen $60 games. This is a 'proper' next-gen $15 4-hour game, it's not comparable to other smaller PSN offerings.

Obviously I'd prefer if this was $10 or $5 (or $4 or $3 or $2 or $1), but the proposed dollar per hour of entertainment isn't out of whack at all.

GAF is alright with 8-10 hr games that sell for $60, as is a large part of the gaming community. What seems inconsistent to you here?

You're being highly disingenuous anyway to imply that it's strictly limited to 4hrs of entertainment from the package. Obviously, that's only the estimate for one playthru.

I can barely get two peopl into a movie for $15 for 4 hours of entertanment

I cannot drive my car for 4 hours on $15 worth of gas.

Most DVD's ae $15 and last between 90 minutes and 2 hours.

Blu-Ray movies are $25-30, and last 90 minutes to 2 hours.

UFC PPV's are about $40 to $50 and last 4 hours.

Heavenly Sword was $60 and lasted 5 hours.

I can list dozens of examples why a $15 game with 4 hours of fun gameplay (and a fun story) is infinitely more worthwhile than many other thins you throw money at without bating an eye. When was the last time you went out to eat and paid $15 for dinner, just to feed yourself, when you could have spent the same money and had enough food for 2 people?

Troll elsewhere.

Incredible stuff. Pretty much everything I wanted. More platforming mainly, more scale, more techniques and basically more of the same. Interested to see the light/dark segments. I can't believe it's a downloadable game lol.

The scale impressed me, some of those towers Ratchet was climbing seemed to go on up forever, whilst the world around him was still visible.

Here I was thinking this downloadable game would be some PSP looking thing lol.

10$ for 3 hours, 15$ for 4, 60$ for 6-8 hours.

I dunno.

looks like more fun that ToD... i thought that game was lame.. this has more platforming as it seems.
meh.

Day one

TOD was my first Ratchet & Clank game and my second PS3 game. $15US (what ever that ends up in AUS) sound like a good deal for 3-4 hours of gameplay.

It's like an interactive movie without rip off popcorn and yelling kids. :)

I haven't seen any vids (only the images), haven't read the thread but I'll tell you something for nothing - this is an Insomniac product so I know it'll be polished and enjoyable. They get that trust until they put out a crap product.

And, no this isn't blind trust in Insomniac - hopefully it's me making an educated guess and also making things easier for myself!

Each to his own though. As for $15 = 4hrs... whaddya gonna do? Seems reasonable to me.

It honestly does look like it has more gameplay variety than the full Ratchet and Clank game.

- btw how is Insomniac such a prolific producer of PS3 games when seemingly the rest of the entire industry is having problems?

I agree, but I simply can't buy this until I finish R&C, I don't think I could justify it.

Do we know if it's getting trophy support? I could wait until then before going back to it..if I'm going back to it... (don't get me wrong, I enjoyed what I played of it, but it seems increasingly rare that I actually finish games anymore :p)

Anytime productivity starts to falter, Ted Price threatens to cancel the next ice cream social. It's an amazing motivational tool.

Resistance 2 looks freakin' ace and now this? looks excellent, also 15$ is a freakin great price for such a beautiful game.

Insomniac is definitely one of the best dev teams out there. :D

I still hope that Insomniac is going to do a big new R&C game next year though. Maybe the smaller game is just a way of finding out what players actually want for the next full R&C game.

I keep rewatching the trailer for Quest for Booty. Looks lovely. Nice music and atmosphere and the graphics look really nice once again. Can't wait to play it.

From the trailer, it seems that most enemies were already in Tools Of Destruction. I'm wondering if there's going to be any new enemies in Quest For Booty?

I love this new concept. For me that generally prefers Single play experiences i'll take the 4 hour HL2 Episode or R&C over a $20 map pack.

Plus for Insomniac its such a great concept. You release this as a bridge between your two PS3 games on its "off year". They're clearly going to use this to setup the next game

Could we see a R2 equivalent next year?

Well I suppose it's right, then, but, I mean.. there's no replay value... I might have the PSN concept wrong (or the Arcade concept right), but isn't there supposed to be some kind of added value to a game like this, no?

I mean, it's not episodic, it's not an expansion... I suppose it's right... I don't know...

I can't believe people are complaining about $15 for 4 hours of gameplay. That seems very reasonable to me. I will definitely buy Q4B, it looks great, and I loved ToD. Insomniac is one of the best devs out there, period.

Erm... $15 for 4 hours of gameplay?... :S

Am I the only one having a problem with this?

Probably? Given how many games these days are $60 for 6 hours of gameplay, 4 hours for $15 is a steal.

Wouldn't you rather have three downloadable Ratchet episodes, probably adding up to the same total amount of gameplay, spread out over the same time and selling for a total of $15 less?

There's no rules about what a downloadable game has to be.

This is a short, but an otherwise fully polished/featured R&C game, available at a cheaper price. Simple as that.

If there isn't replay value then Insomniac would have to remove one of the key parts of the series (challenge mode)

Edit: I guess it is possible that there is no challenge mode though since there aren't any new weapons. Unless they raise it to 15 and add stuff.

What, for everybody? Nobody ever plays through and R&C game more than once?

I've played through ToD twice and will in future play through it again for a third time. I'm guessing I will play through this DLC at least twice.

Day one, and the price looks PERFECT. Some good looking platforming segments shown so far, ToD could have used some more of that so I'm jonesin' for a new fix.

HL2:Ep. 2 was 5 hours long and my second favorite game of last year. Of all the things to criticize in next-gen gaming, the average length in games is, perhaps, the least deserving, yet most highly targeted aspect. (Especially given the fact that this game, in particular, is so cheap.)

What it needs is an arena with as many challenges as the PS2 games. The PS3 one was weak.

WEAK

Another good example is GAF favorite Lost Winds, which is 10 dollars for about 3 hours.
