I hate to admit it but it was an excellent conference. One of the best I've ever seen. I imagine most of the big budget stuff is heading to PC so I'm pretty excited from that perspective.

500 bucks really sucks though. Will likely delay my purchase.

9/10

Pre-E3 Kinect Sports Rivals: Looked like shit, CG trailer, and they got rid of avatars, embarrassing.

MGS5: It looked beautiful, especially the animation. Absolutely next generation. However -- it made even less sense than most MGS games. There were buzzwords and philosophies shouted. The character names were stupid. This is a stupid series. And hearing that the primary themes are race and geopolitics gives me even less confidence--I simply don't think the team has a handle on those subjects.

Xbox 360 Jr: Looks neat but weird.

Xbox 360 Gold PS+ knockoff offer: I don't give a crap about the two games mentioned, but more value is good. I'd like to see what "yours to keep" means.

World of Tanks: This is a big deal, but, and this is my first major point. Conferences need to stop giving time to executives from partner companies. I mean that in the general sense, but especially to companies whose executives do not speak English at a native fluency. It's awkward, it's stilted, and it provides no value.

Max and the Brotherhood Whatever: I think this looks great, a big step up from the first Max game which was terrible. Microsoft highlighting it is a vote of confidence, as is buying the team.

Dark Souls 2: Skipped footage to make lunch.

Ryse: Looked terrible. Actually, visually it looked quite good. You can really see the step between this generation and next, bigtime. But the game looked terrible. Combat that's worse than God of War (and I already hate brawlers). Minigame-type things like Heavenly Sword. QTEs. It went on forever. Total disaster. Also, another company exec speaking poor English.

Killer Instinct: Well I'm glad they didn't ditch the cheese factor. Definitely in the spirit of the originals. Seemed early.

Sunset Overdrive: Looked gorgeous, and I'm very glad for Insomniac. Cartoon style. Cool premise. Like Mirror's Edge and Bulletstorm in one.

Forza 5: Looked good, I'm not going to play it. Between Forza, GT, and Project CARS I think we're getting really close to moments that look pretty near exactly like real life. This lasted so long.

Minecraft: Same game new platform, not an example of how you support indie devs

Quantum Break: I like the idea of a detective type game like this. Looked visually great (if it was in-game). I'd like to hear more about the live action elements and know more about gameplay. Sam Lake's English would be the bare minimum I would consider acceptable to be presenting.

D4: Looked like a 360 game, but cool art style, and I'm onboard for SWERY. The weird fist-punch thing looked weird but I am onboard for episodic mystery gaming. Pumped.

Project Spark: I heard before the conference that Microsoft was working on a "little big planet style creation game", so that's this obviously. Visually it looked pretty good and the creation mode felt like From Dust a little bit. The creation tools look very simple and easy to use. I'd like to see if it works without Smartglass. I'd also like to see if it could actually have depth, rather than being a sandbox toy--The gameplay looked simple but attention-holding and interesting. In that regard it reminds me of Scribblenauts, which was an excellent execution of its concept but never quite came together to be an excellent /game/ (I haven't played Unleashed). Windows 8, meh.

Smartglass: This is not a good technology. It is not a good idea. The content shown on it is not interesting. And using Ryse, by FAR the least interesting content presented, to highlight it shows. All of the stuff demonstrated on Spotglass felt like stuff that was doable in the 360 with basically the same level of ease.

Smartjoin: Seemed like 360's regular matchmaking.

Killer Instinct Fight Stick Demo: Awkward gaming banter is bad enough when Ubisoft does it, it's worse when a first-party publisher does. The game looked like Killer Instinct though. But, like, stop pretending these are real people talking to each other. They are not.

Upload Studio: Looks good, like Sony's DVR stuff. I'm glad this is happening. I hope it's uploaded to a service that allows me to access the raw files and resubmit to other sharing channels. Twitch TV support makes total sense, I thought it was weird that Sony emphasized uStream which is really less important than Twitch. Software looked good, hope it works as well as the demo.

Friend List: it was a stupid cap to begin with.

No More MSP: Yes we know.

Family Xbox Live Gold: Yes we know.

Crimson Dragon: No sound? What the hell? Footage looked like the 360 version. Still interested in playing it.

Dead Rising 3: Well, we know this has been coming for a while. To me, Dead Rising's crowd stuff probably was the first major demonstration of the power of the 360, so it's fitting as a demo. I don't personally like the games (although Case Zero was neat). Framerate seemed iffy, graphics don't look that great. Honestly the game design seemed kind of last gen, State of Decay really is a challenge to how Dead Rising could be a cooler game and this didn't satisfy. Crowd AI stuff looks a little better, zombies feel a bit faster. I dunno, this is disappointing to me. No one gives a shit about Smartglass. Exclusive.

The Witcher 3: This guy is hilarious and goofy, I love how unprofessional CD Projekt is. I don't really care about this game.

Battlefield 4: The more human beings care about Battlefield, the less I do. I really, really don't care about this. Another sound fuckup. Please Understand. Dumb dialogue, dumb concept. If they said this was Call of Duty, I'd believe them. We've had enough of this exact game.

Sword and Sworcery 2Below: Cool trailer.

Black Tusk's game: Fireworks! Fantavision 2! Fuck yes. Oh. Maybe not. Guns. Too bad. Well they didn't show anything, so ok???

Prince of Persia: Halo: meh I'm several games behind and the things I like about the game don't include the universe, so an early tease doesn't do anything for me. 60fps is neat. This was lethargic.

Price: Expensive but I assumed so.

Titanfall: Wow it's Call of Duty meets Halo who cares. Long-ass segment oh my god just get it over with.

Overall: Setting aside what I think of the Xbox One's direction and decisions about DRM and stuff (which have nothing to do with the conference), the conference itself was good. Most segments were kept to an appropriate length, they showed a lot of games including some interesting new stuff, and even misfires like Ryse and DR3 are more exciting than some stuff they showed at past conferences. There's nothing here that compels me to be on the ground floor, day one. But I still have reservations about the hardware too.

I'd say this is a 7.5 or 8 out of 10.

Thanks for this. I wasn't able to watch the conference. I don't care for your score, but this is a nice summary.

Lots of games, not that much other crap. Pretty decent. 7/10.

Then the price hit... £430.

4/10.

Good luck launching this in the U.K. at that kinda price!

9/10. All killer no filler. Exclusives look fantastic. Forza and Ryse day one is just great. Pretty hyped right now.

wtf are you guys talking about in this this thread? lol

That was a A+ conference. I'm super hyped for Sony because I know they're gonna bring the goods too. Dunno how I'm going to get both at launch but I will be buying both.

7/10, some good games on show but many of them multiplatform.

Neverthless, £429.

Yay I can get on Gaf now!

3/10

- Didn't like all the framerate drops in certain games
- LOTS of FPS's
- Price point
- Some of the games were REALLY boring since I mostly seen the ideas on other games already
- Most games were multiplat
+ Titanfall, Killer Instinct, and Dead Rising 3

5/10 from me.

They played it safe and thanks to our insiders and rumour mongering, we basically weren't as surprised about any of this.

I really didn't see anything I didn't expect other than the rumored Insomniac IP which looked ok.

Then the price....

Overall it was a little disappointing considering what's at stake.

8/10 easily.

Spewing there was no Crackdown. But Titanfall looked insane, What lies below looked stunning and Sunset Overdrive completely explains why Fuse turned to shit. That looks great.

Ryse looks like Xbox will finally have something like God of War. Looked hot.

A little shooter-heavy, but a nicely done game-focused show. 4/5 Needed a little more variety in genres, but about as good as can be expected as they were aiming at core gamers who buy the biggest franchises. Actually really happy about Crimson Dragon going to X1 as well as the surprise of Swery's new game. Mostly hyped about Quantum Break and Dead Rising 3.

5 out of 10

It wasn't bad it just wasn't exciting. Nothing I saw made me think wow I need this, it felt more of the same. The price for the console, the fact they didn't mention DRM it was hard to be excited.

At this point this fight is Sony's to lose based on what they decide.

6/10

Cudos to them for sticking to games, but not much I was interested in when it came to exclusives. Would probably be lower if Titanfall didn't look as good as it did. Outside of that MGS5 and Witcher were the only good things at the conference. Plus the price brought it down even more.

8/10

I was hoping for a Banjo game, maybe some more E rated games.

Plenty to be excited about, the Price tag is Big, kinda expected that though.

7/10 Titanfall, Panzer Dagoon successor, and Dead Rising were the only cool exclusives to me. Everything else cool was multiplatform but at least they showed games.

Liked most of the games, but $499 with all its issue? No thanks.

I'll buy ps4 first and wait for a price drop on xbone. Probably when it hits $299.

Edit: 5/10

9/10

- PS+ style free games for Gold members
- top-secret new Xbox 360 model, available now
- a shit-ton of games, many of which interested me
- games clearly geared toward hardcore early adopters
- no fluff
- even Smartglass integration seemed cool
- minimal Kinect
- $499 was expected all along

Sure, there were technical hiccups, and some games didn't get enough screen time (or the right kind of screen time), but overall I was really impressed. Honestly, the crowd's immature reactions were more embarrassing than the sound not working a couple of times.

Very good showing. Still doesnt change the fact that I cant support the xbone. All the exclusives shown I can live without.

4/5 based on the games shown ONLY

4/5. Paced really well. Tons of games. Price killed it.

Yeah maybe they played it safe, but it had a bunch of games and I'm interested in a good amount of them.

Much worse than the past few years.

Unless they addressed the rental/used issues or the console was going to be 100$ there was no redeeming it.

Only good thing is SWERY!!!!!

I really don't know. It was certainly a decent show, there have been no filler and just games, but except for a few exceptions (like Quantum Break) nothing really made me feel excited. Everything looked competent, but just... decent. The price seemed insane, though. I don't feel that one.

6/10, I'd say.

It was a good conference. Nothing wowed me. But they did what they said they will do and showed 20 games. A lot of exclusives for XBO.

Having said that, at this point, nothing they showed justifies $499.

i voted 4/5 but i think that was more of a vote for just them showing games and because it was so good in comparison to their unveil. but so many of the games just weren't that interesting to me. so objectively id say 4/5, personally, id say 2-3/5.

mgs5 and killer instinct were great though.

Without the DRM, I'd probably be pretty interested.

But, with the DRM, it might as well be a make believe system, because I will never buy it.

Good showing, a few titles I'm looking forward to, but nothing that screamed "buy this console at launch price for $499.99"

Absolutely nothing like that at this event.

C+

shockingly bad.

Put into context - this felt like any other 360 conference in the middle of a generation. But it is the start of a new one, we should be blown away by stuff.

MS put the games up there, thats good - not too much fluffy talking - but they were just a bit meh to me.

The highlights were probably Dead Rising 3 and Forza

Dead Rising 3 I initially didn't like because it seemed a bit 'gritty' which isn't exactly the feel of the other games. Maybe they were going for more of a walking dead vibe. But it got better during the demo. Quite annoyed that Capcom once again took the money hat just like at the start of the 360 generation. Hopefully DR4 will be on PS4 in a couple of years.

Forza when the guy said 'the unlimited power of the cloud' I nearly gagged. But he showed a nice use for it. I don't really care if my 'drivatar' is out there racing all the time - I'm more interested that it looks like I'll race against other drivatars rather than bland AI (hopefully ones matched to my level). Very interesting.

But that isn't nearly enough to get me to buy one.

The price is astonishing. More expensive than PS3 was at launch, with I can only assume a big window of opportunity for Sony to undercut them.

That is definitely going to grab mainstream gamers' attention. I'm really surprised at how many great blockbuster games they have coming. They didn't spend any time at all on their usual casual stuff. Aside from ho-hum price point, an outstanding conference. Sony will not one up that.

It was more professional that normal and moved at a good pace, but the games were pretty boring. The price killed any interest I had but I'll buy one in a couple of years when it costs £250.

3/5

Lots of games, but not many that excite me.

MGSV looks great but multiplatform.
Forza has me wishing for GT6 on PS4
The Capy game is a great get.
Titanfall isn't my kind of game, but it looked great.
$499 is brutal.

Nothing that sold me on the system yet.

Give it a solid 6. That price though.. lol. Man, crows are about to go extinct.

They sold me on nothing though. As long as that console has DRM they can suck a fuck. I don't care how pretty and interesting their games were. And quite a few were in fact pretty and interesting, I can't deny it.
