Ray Gigant |OT| - Baby's First DRPG

I've played about an hour of the PC version and the port seems fine, I've had no problems at all. I haven't tested the mouse controls though and obviously with a game using mostly 2D art assets the resolution change from being on the PC doesn't make it look a lot different.

Yeah same experience here. Posted the following in the other OT (not sure why there's two, ones for the JP version I guess?)

I'm interested how the port is. Tempted to give it a grab.

Edit: Ended up just going for it since I can refund from Steam. Port doesn't have much in sense of options, perhaps to be expected for a Visual Novel kind of game. You can change resolution up to 1080p, fullscreen option(fullscreen keeps the resolution, I get black bars on my 1440p monitor) and controller or keyboard selection with key binding choices. That said, played the first chapter and it was running fine and didn't crash.

People weren't kidding when they said this game was easy. You can kill area bosses with slash beat mode at the start before they even get a turn...

Seems like there are a lot of weird arbitrary systems in this game, but the concept of Gigant battles taking place from three different perspectives is actually really cool.

The game really does have some great art.

There's a Steam patch up, but I'm not sure what it fixes.

Boy does this game reward you for making one character super overpowered. I mean, it's easy as hell, but you can just auto attack bosses with one character while the others wait and it's GG.

Anyone knows how many chapters the game has?
Right now I am at
the 3rd character.

And that game is easy af. Just have someone constantly healing you while the others attack or wait to build up AP...

Its even more hilarious when you fill up the slash beat meter to full then go into a gigant fight pretty much destroying it with that.

Sheesh, this game is obscure. It doesn't even have a tvtropes page!

So, as someone that doesn't have the game, what's up with the giant monsters?

They were hungry.

Seriously.

Earth is basically a smorgasbord for them. It's also (mild spoiler?)
not the first time they've been
and there's a relationship between (another mild spoiler?)
them and the Yorigami -- the 'smaller' monsters that sort of possess some of the humans so they can fight back. He's talking with one of them in those screens
.

But come on, who really needs a reason for giant monsters? :)

Had the brilliant idea to jump into NG+ before getting the
Parasitism
trophy - which is hidden and I didn't know about, mind you. RIP platinum, it'll just take too long going from the beginning.

Thanks! Kinda lame, I figured it would be something more interesting based on those designs, but ok.

I hate to be the guy who cant beat this braindead easy game, but im stuck on the final boss. Part of the problem is that Ichaya's sword goes from hitting 300-400 points of damage to 1 or 2 (not hundred, literally "1" or "2") and I have no clue why.

Did I just miss something during my playtime that explains this?

Only thing that would explain that is either you are under leveled as in equipment you unlocked or the enemy somehow changed forms which changes up the type of enemy it is. As the rock paper scissors damage system exists. Normally if you leveled up your weapons enough you should have obtained a weapon that is strong against all enemy types.

I honestly dont even remember if the boss did change forms. Dont recall that since all I remember is everyone being at the usual 3 different locations.

So I played through the game over the course of a few days. And well, it was mostly boring, but okay I guess?

75% of the time they were talking about being hungry or what they should eat next.

Also I don't like to use this expression, but the game was as anime as it gets. Every trope was there. The twists were dumb. At least the gameplay wasn't frustrating and I like grinding/somehow monotonous gameplay.

The music (Faylan, KOTOKO) and art were great too. And it had Yu Kobayashi in it, so there's that.

I played it on the vita; I don't think I would've made it through the game on Steam/the PC.
