razer making xbone controller to compete with that elite one

Razer deserves some flak for the ugly color scheme but some people are acting as if it is the only color scheme. It's clearly optional in the second pic.

the only thing i will say positively about this is that chat adapter its a lot less bulkier and something microsoft should have done first time round with their's....

Welp, it certainly looks terrible. Hopefully it performs better than it looks.

There's a reason arcade sticks are wired for example. Wireless adds delay.

Yeah well it's not like you have any competitive games on Xbone. Besides that, isn't MS elite wireless?

The only thing I can think about is how badly I wanted a Razer Onza way back, until I read about the horrible quality of that thing. They failed this type of controller before so I'm... sceptical about this one. It's also extremely ugly. Wow. I remember the Onza as at least okay looking.

Looks nowhere near as nice as the elite controller. The thing I like about the elite controller isn't just the extra paddles and profiles but I also like the high quality, premium materials it uses. It just looks kinda classy. This looks ugly.

The elite controller is also modular. This isn't. I think it's pretty obvious which one will be better.

Microsoft didn't let them use their new protocol that minimizes delay further?

The Elite controller is interesting to me because I'd like to believe the sticks don't wear out as quick as on a regular controller because they use steel for some parts instead of plastic. I don't really know if that is enough to prevent the steaks from getting loose tbh.

But I wouldn't buy one of these if they are going to have the same faults as regular controllers.

i don't think $150 controllers are ridiculous if the build quality is top notch.
I bought a razer controller for the 360. The Onza. It broke in like a month. Like legit broke. Not just worn out. Broken.

Granted I don't remember the Onza being $150, but it definitely was more expensive than a traditional 360 controller. Regardless I don't trust razer controllers after that.

That D pad looks atrocious. If you want to do ANYTHING, then do a fucking controller with a better D pad than the Xbone original. Just copy PS2's ffs.

That is one ugly mofo...that 360 controller at that time? Monstrosity i had and i regret i bought it same goes towards their mouses it is like the dr dre beats of peripherals that isn't good. When i even choose a mouse i go Logitech same with keyboard.

Razer makes some nice mice but the Onza controller had crap build quality and I didn't like the feel of it either. This would need amazing reviews to get me to bite. I would disregard the ugly looks if it had incredible build and feel but I have serious doubts they can pull it off.

Yep it's wireless. Sounds like this is why? vvvv

It's not wired by choice. Only MS makes wireless pads for the xbone

I would say this still doesn't change the fact that wired tends to be the preferred route for competitive gaming, be that a gamepad, arcade stick, mouse, whatever, but...

Microsoft didn't let them use their new protocol that minimizes delay further?

maybe I missed something along the way?

Is wireless what's up/no longer an issue these days? If so then apologies for my outdated info as I may have spoken too soon!

Build quality better be through the roof for that price, it looks similar to their sabretooth and I've been through 3 of those, yea its the best controller out their hands down but I loathe replacing it at $70 a pop nevermind $150.

Bring this to PlayStation. And with a better color scheme ffs. We need a good controller and Scuf is just a modded controller sold st a premium :/

Sony should put out an elite DS4. Thing would sell like hot cakes.
They have the marketing for CoD, Destiny and Battlefront this fall - all the major FPS releases. Would have been the absolute perfect moment.

Anyways I look forward to reviews on this unit. Looks ugly as f but at the end of the day, it's comfort/performance that maters for this product's audience.

Yep. Would've been perfect timing.

Haha no. Why would I buy this when the Elite exists? If they wanted to make money, they should have made this function on the PS4.

Every Razer product I have bought last 18 months, at most.

Razer Naga - the optical sensor only tracked horizontal.
Razer Lycosa - keys would intermittently stop working. First it was just one key, then the nonworking keys spread throughout the keyboard. So the 'A' key would stop working. 10 seconds later, the 'B' key would stop... go on from there until I physically unplug/replug the keyboard.
Razer Onza - Triggers stopped working.

I will never buy another razer product.

Both my Razer Onza and Sabertooth controllers for the X360 broke after several months of use. I'm never buying Razer crap ever again.

Every single Razer peripheral I ever used broke so much faster than other brand. The only reliable thing they built for me at least is my mechanical keyboard (blackwidow).

Hopefully people buying this controller won't have the same fate as I did. (Went throught 2 keyboard and 3 mices, 2 headset)

As far as I am aware, some of that $100 million that went into the controller R&D went into designing a new wireless protocol. It has less latency and much, much more bandwidth than the latest Bluetooth, and I think it was comparable or better than WiFi Direct.

Deathadder mouse and Blackwidow keyboard going strong after 4 years, so don't presume Razer is shit all the time. I like the way they did the bumpers and the inner bumpers and back triggers, I'd like to see how those work in hand. If they price this competitively it could be a decent PC controller instead of an Xbox controller.
