Tony is the main villain, the movie is centered around Peter creating elaborate hijinks to stop Tony from courting his aunt.

why would he need hijnks?

Hmm to me Spiderman was always the poor struggling hero who made money by taking pictures of Spidey. He's a character who struggled the most financially .but with a rich billionaire iron man as his friend in this universe, how will this Peter Parker umm struggle?? Unless he's such a humble guy ._.

The again Harry Osborn was his friend too. Never mind lol
Current Spider-Man comics have him running his own corporation and being rich. Started from the bottom!

Do we even know how substantial his role is going to be? It could be quite minimal

Has RDJ ever had a minimal role in any of the MCU movies? The only one I can think of is that Hulk movie, which was more like a cameo.

Front and center in pretty much all the other ones that he appears in I think.

I'm pretty sure Tony will be giving Peter an apprenticeship at Stark Industries.

I was watching the extra features of the Ant-Man Blu-Ray last night, and there is a "news report" with Christine Everhart. (the reporter that Tony slept with in Iron Man 1) At the bottom was a ticker about Stark Industries taking in some students.

Peter could do some great things with access to Tony's facilities and money. :)

Third act of the movie. The villain has the upper hand. Peter feels lost and defeated, and doesn't even have the courage to go back out as Spider-Man. There's a loud noise outside the Parker house. Peter opens the door. It's Iron Man. He takes off his helmet, puts his hand on Peter's shoulder, and tells him "Peter, with great power, comes great responsibility". Crowd cheers. Marvel makes all the money.

Hulk is the only one yeah, I think it'll be a little more than a cameo but I don't think he should be a main character.
I'm guessing a Nick Fury type presence.
Maybe like a minor supporting character or something. Nick Fury was important in certain MCU films, and in others he just cameo'd.

Wasn't it a stipulation that the Spider-Man movie get to use some of the Avengers? Or was that from a cancelled deal before we got the current one?

Edit: It's also worth it to note that we have no idea how big his role is, or what his relationship to Tony will be in the movie. If it even is Tony Stark. He is most likely playing Kraven the Hunter.

Marvel Studios is producing the movie with Kevin Feige. This is not a Sony joint with recasting being possible. He is playing Tony Stark.

It's in the Keaton thread here. Somebody from Variety tweeted that the money they're paying RDJ means Keaton is infeasible as well.

Maybe Sony's waiting for the opening weekend BO for Civil War to come in before signing the check that'll allow them to announce they got both. Lol.

i wonder who he'll play

it would be pretty insane if they did a bruce campbell on him and gave RDJ a big grey beard and have him play some humorous hobo character for a minute scene. Everybody's expecting stark and he's nowhere in the marketing..or the movie.

Needs a sign saying 'I grew this beard in a cave without a box of scraps.'

I checked the thread, there's no such tweet ? Just a tweet about how it never got past talking stages - which followed with a few members speculating it was due to the money spent on RDJ.

Guys... I would love if the keep the register or be punished status Post Civil War as a red line for Phase III... Would add some great tension to the movies.

This was the absolute worst thing about the marvel comics post Civil War.
