Native Americans or indians when referring to the indigenous people of the Americas. Indians or "native Indians" is on the other hemisphere.

Capcom will be dead to me if they do this without a Dhalsim walk-on.

I think when you're talking about about India they're Indians (as you said). When you're talking about North American natives, however, they're American Indians.
