You want more precise aiming via the pc version?

Bahahahahahahahaha.

there's this new fangled device called a mouse. I hear it makes for some precise movements. One of these days I might try it on one of dem durr FPS type games.

I love it how people are arguing whether the Wii version or the as of right now completely hypothetical 360 version of RE4 is superior.

Yep. It would be even better if the PC version actually used it.

It's Gaf.

Someone does a photo shop and everoyone starts speculating. Cue "Shockaxis" thread.

You never play XBLA?

And seriously, I really don't like the Wii at all, but holy hell, RE4 is bliss with the Wiimote.

i play xbla games all the time.

im sure the wiimote is fine with the game, just like the analog stick is fine with the game.

Believe this man. Seriously this could come from ***** it would be more reliable.

Bububu what the... It's moving !!! My eyes see it MOVE !! MAKE IT STOP !!

Same here, I felt dizzy after I looked at that pic

Wow, what a thread. A baseless rumour for a game port is getting a lot of attention and now it's turning into another wiimote controls vs classic "next-gen" controls.

Your ignorance is comical to me.

Re4 PC version does not support the mouse.

So you're complaining about the Wii version having never played it?

Besides, even if the mouse was used in RE4 PC, the controls would still suck ass since you'd have to use a keyboard to move around and do stuff!

Wiimote FTMFW!

HD graphics and DD 5.1 sound >> wiimote controls IMO.

It's not like I was playing it on the GCN going "I wish I had motion control". It played great, so I don't mind playing it with a pad again.

edit: btw, I'm not hating on the Wii version, but this is just more exciting to me.

Last gen it was about graphics. This gen it's about controls.

RE4 debates are fun

What?! KM/mouse suck on a shooting game? Besides at the very least inventory management would be a lot better than the Wii version hell using the mouse breaks the whole game it's just too easy with it.

where did i complain? only thing i said about the wii version is last gen graphics and thats not complaining, its just stating facts. some people are way too defensive about the wii. the thread got like 3-4 people replying about how superior the wii version is to everything else and blah blah and no one said anything. it gets one reply from someone saying they might prefer regular controls and all hell breaks loose.

wow.

There's a mouse mod, but it's just emulating pad so it's not as smooth as with real mouse support. Still more accurate than a wiimote though! It's hard to say which is the definite version but the patched PC version is close and it's probably the cheapest one.

I managed a 32 kill combo with the GC controller

AND THEN

a 100 kill combo with the Wii. I know which one I'd take any day.

Did you ever bother to think that this is maybe due to the change in the aim cursor scheme and not the controller change? Going from a laser sight that hardly gives you good indication of where your aim is at all times to a magic cross hair that gives you constant update of your aim... Hmm.... I wonder why your combos improved....

If anything, Capcom dumbed down the cursor scheme to deal with the wiggly and fidgety nature of the waggle.

While I admit that your post wasn't inflammatory, it was off the back of one that was (Phoenix_Fangs). I apologize, I mixed you two up.

I want a 360 version that comes with a special gun that shoots Wiimotes at enemies. It should please both sides.

The Wii version supports the GCN controller, I think, meaning it combines the superior classic controls, the best GCN powered graphics, and it has the PS2 bonus content, making it the definitive version easily.

Man, what a thread.

Meh, good as RE4 is, I can only play through a 20-hour game so many times in a short period before I get sick of it.

They should just throw the Mercenaries mode onto XBLA with leaderboards, 2p co-op play, and maybe a few new stages.

what phoenix fangs said was no more inflammatory or wrong then what he was replying to, what with the whole "bubub complaining without playing first" thing you just said to me.

Based on the videos it looks worse than unmodded RE4 PC on a high resolution+aa+af. You can use the "superior classic controls" on PC too.

This is the new Street Fighter II.

Seriously, I'm getting tired of this thing being ported and upgraded. I love the game but felt no need to replay anything other than the initial gamecube version. It still holds up!

It makes a lot of sense. There was no RE love on Xbox so they might want to "introduce" the franchise to 360 owners before dropping the RE5 bomb.

er... I nearly reached 90 combos with a GCN pad several times, so I don't think your point is valuable

I think the PC version is hideous in high res. RE4 is a beautiful game on the Cube because the art works with the systems texture and resolution limitations. When you just bump up the res to 1680x1050 you get slapped in face by how low the poly counts are and how muddy the textures look.

Let's just say I highly doubt Mr. Fang plays better with the GC pad than the Wiimote. Either he sucks uncontrollably with Wii Control, can somehow manipulate space-time to make the GC pad more responsive than the Wiimote, or is flat out lying.

What point?
HE said that because HE had better aiming with the Wii version, that HE prefers the Wii version and that is the version HE enjoys the most.
You know that HE can have an opinion..so is not like he's opinion has more or less value, simply because is just his preference.

Just like the ones that prefer the traditional set-up...

But the ones coming to this thread, prefering the traditional set-up..
Act more like "waggle sucks..boohoo..give me a PS2 pad..boo hoo hoo", instead of actually talking or giving reasons as to why they prefer it.

Uh, then it will surely look worse in lower res on a large TV

Well this thread really isn't about the Wii or waggle, is it? It's more annoying seeing nfans come out of the woodwork just to throw out how superior they think waggle control is.

you really lost me with this one shog... so let me try and get it straight.

it seems to me that you are saying:

1. the wii controls are inferior due to the wiimotes ability to act as a proper pointer which makes extremely fast and precise selection of targets in the game possible

2. whereas a standard pad is better because it doesnt allow you to make fast and precise selections of targets

and 3. that somehow using an aiming system that is accurate means that the game was dumbed down? cal me old fashioned but if i've got a gun in my hand i tend to point it at stuff and pull the trigger, not use a little thumbstick to move where its aiming. Clearly i must be living in backwards world tho.

GCN version is IMO jaw dropping on my 25" SDTV. I just actually replayed RE4 over the weekend and there are a couple parts where you can't do shit but stare in slack jawed wonder. And it's not technical wonder, like Crysis or something. It's the whole package. A combination of art and technical tricks that combine to create something really gorgeous.

I just happen to think that RE4 really, really suffers in HD resolutions. It's not built to look good at 1680x1050, and ipso facto, it doesn't.

How would Capcom achieve a cursor that moves that quickly on the screen while requiring you to adjust Leon's field of view occasionally? Dual-analog?

RE4 Wii Edition isn't just a change in the controls but a change in the overall dynamic of the aiming system. It's literally faster to aim from one side to the other than the old scheme.
