My first system was one of those old NES rip-offs with 20 "games" in one cartridge.
My first REAL system though, was this

Anyone else had one of these? lol

Is Iplayer availible for free in the US?

No, seems like it isn't. Although I can listen to the radio :D (apparently)

Seems the first season is on Netflix though, so I can at least see the last episode of that. Then I just have to wait for the second season. Ah well.

...¬_¬.

Haha. That face actually looks a bit like your glance in your new avy.

It's odd, I'm a total graphics horse in general but it's more like if I have the option I'd rather have my games looking their finest. Considering that I used to play D&D I'd actually argue that the best games don't need graphics at all!

So true! Good graphics are nice, but I feel like my imagination filled in the lack of picture/quality much better than any game has reproduced thus far (well, most anyway). And hurray for D&D!

And to think I went off to college with a black and white TV so I could play Space Invaders, Asteroids* and Missile Command whenever I wanted.

*Still the greatest game ever.

Oldies but goodies. :)

Early-mid 20s, ha I wish. I do have the inability to age which is what probably messed up your guesstimate. Take your age and subtract 2.

Had no idea we were that close. ^_^ Your genes have served you well.

First console for me was actually SNES, since I wasn't into console gaming before then.

First thing I had to play games on was a Commodore 64! It was something my father had bought several months before I was born, so I grew up with that thing. Apparently when I was a baby I'd bang on the keys and my dad would yell at me!

If we're not counting correct timeframe (i.e. when the console was actually competitive), then I own/have owned the following systems

Atari 2600
NES
Sega Master System
Gameboy
SNES
Genesis/CD/32X
Game Gear
Nomad
Neo-Geo/CD
Wonderswan/Color
Neo Geo Pocket Color
TurboDuo
Virtual Boy
Jaguar/CD
Playstation
Three Sega Saturns
N64/DD
Gameboy Color
3DO
Dreamcast
Gameboy Advance (Regular, Lite, Micro)
Gamecube
PS2
XBox
Nintendo DS (Regular and Lite0
PSP (1000 and 2000)
Wii
360
PS3
3DS

I'm probably forgetting some.

A lot of these are things I bought way after the fact. Some of these are things I bought just to say I have.

Watched Scott Pilgrim vs The World last night on bluray. Haven't seen it since opening night on the big screen. Forgot how much I loved it. Dat soundtrack and visuals! Not too many movie looks great on my old tv but this movie looked amazing. It's a shame it bombed in the box office. Will try to get as many friends to watch it. Such a fun movie, and you can see it in the behind-the-set featurette.

:lol

The first console I actually owned was my OG Xbox, which is funny when you consider the snide remark I made before about people who have only ever owned Sony hardware.

I did have a SNES, Gameboy, Megadrive, PS2 and N64 at various times though, they just belonged to friends who weren't using them.

The WiiU is 2 times more powerful than the 360, which is 5 times more powerful than the Wii, which is 1.5 times more powerful than the Gamecube. The PS3 is 8 times more powerful than the Gamecube.
If the Nintendo 64, which is 1/10th as powerful as the WiiU, is 435, what is the PS3?

Mark your answer in the box. [ ]

I tried to solve for the PS3, and your math doesn't add up.

N64 = 435.
WiiU = 435 x 10 = 4350.
Xbox 360 = 4350/2 = 2175.
Wii = 2175/5 = 435.

Wii = N64?

It was a really good movie, even if overall I preferred the comic.

I really hope Wright's Antman script is as good.

My gaming platforms have been:

NES
SNES
Genesis
PC
PS1
GBC
N64
GBA
Gamecube
Dreamcast
PS2
XBox
360
DS
Wii
PSP
PS3

Roughly in that order.

My first PC games were Reversi, Minesweeper, and some built-in photo puzzle thing. I remember sorting pictures of airplanes. I think it was in Windows 3.1. Might have been 95. I moved on to Stellar 7 and Dune II not long after that. I've been back and forth with PC gaming ever since.

I actually picked up an Atari 2600 sometime during the GC/PS2/XBox generation, but I didn't play it much.

Now I own a PC, DS, 360, and Wii. I left the PS3 at my parent's house for them to use as a bluray player. I use the Wii to rip discs and play them on PC. My 360 sees little use, and the DS even less.

I guess if you count phones, I have one of those too. Dead Space on a Droid Bionic aint bad with headphones on.

Growing up with two little brothers kind of necessitated multiple consoles. At one point I saved up enough to buy four XBoxes in total, and I had each one hooked up to a little 9" TV/VHS combo so we could always play Halo on a LAN.

Started off with;

Gameboy
Gameboy Advanced
Another Gameboy I forget the name of
PS2
PSP
Xbox
PS3

PC first though, obviously.

Multiple one-game thingies of the 80s (like those LCD things, a handheld Pac-Man or a 3D shooter game thing you pressed against the eyes)
Atari 1040 STfm (family)
Sega Mega Drive (friends collab)
PlayStation (friends collab)
PS2
X360
PC (same case for 11 years now)
MacBook
iPod Touch
iPad
HTC phone thing

Owned for reals:

SNES
N64
GBC
PS1
PS2
PS3
360
Wii

All of them except I never had a gameboy colour, I had an original then a GBA.

Bow down bitches.

What a monstrosity.

Reading back on my little WW anecdote, it's just hit me. I've forgotten the value of money. Everyday I buy two pies from the baker and two cans of juice which comes to like £3.40 everyday for my work lunch. Even though, if I go to Iceland I can get 4, bigger, pies and a 2 litre of the same juice for £2.50. The latter would last me two days on work lunches alone.

Time for a re-shuffling I think.

A friend across town had it, so I played a little bit. I even got to try out the 3D shutter glasses.

TG-16.jpeg

I wish I knew where mine disappeared to. I think I loaned it to a friend who disappeared to like another country.

That said, VC versions of TurboGrafx games piss me off, because the buttons have only two levels of turbo, while the system's controller had three. It makes the games much less playable. :(

My uncle couldn't get past the first 15 seconds of Keith Courage (which came bundled with his TG-16) for about 2 years because he didn't read the manual and didn't understand that his turbo switches were up and limiting his jump height.

I caught him trying to jump in front of one of the huts because he thought it made him jump higher.

Holy buttcrap that was a long meeting. I almost fell asleep twice. The entire thing was talking about stuff that doesn't even pertain to my job function, yet I had to be there as the IT Representative. *yawn*

So hey, boss just left. What are we doing?

I felt the same about Game of Thrones

I said goddamn

Boardwalk Empire was the last surprisingly gratuitous thing I watched. It's just boobs and gore constantly. That's tolerable, but everyone smokes constantly too which just means I keep jumping up for a cigarette every few minutes.

By cigarette, do you mean joint?
only going by your name

because I would

This happens to me while watching Mad Men. All of a sudden I have a craving for a drink and a smoke.

Not gonna lie, I start pretending to smoke whenever they have a TV show or movie like that.
