All right, Neogaf, It's time for me to be honest with you. Here it is, plain as day - I was starting to believe our chances at a 2015 Fallout 4 release date were all well and truly fucked. The good ole Fallout release date... what a mess its all been. I had pretty much written 2015 off altogether. But that was before a certain Journalist from Kotaku... I've always tried to keep expectations in check. The window for 2015 was just so small that it seemed impossible. So believe me when I tell you that I was wrong. Dead wrong. This Journalist from Kotaku is the Last, Best Hope for Fallout 4. We'll get through this, Neogaf. You just gotta Believe. I would guess around 2016/2017 with a 2015 announcement coming later this year lets say at e3.

They tend to favor Q4 releases with announcements ranging from 1 year and 3 months to 8 months prior, at least for their past 3 major RPG releases.
So we could see it launch at the end of this year or at the end of next year, but we'll probably (hopefully) see an announcement sometime this year.

I think they might be waiting for the new gen console base to grow a bit more before launching their blockbuster as a "next-gen exclusive"
