I think the actor did okay considering he was working with some absolutely horrible material. I mean he isn't a great actor by any stretch but I honestly feel the script/direction is more to blame.

I mean, the dialog ain't good, but a better actor would have made that a bit less obvious.

Natalie Portman has awful lines as well but next to Anakin it's hard to tell.

George wrote him as a whiny asshole, I think Hayden nailed it.

But yeah you are probably right, a better actor would have diminished the effects of it.

i mean, obi wan's dialogue was terrible too but ewan mcgregor made it work.

Obi wan was written as an emotionless Monk in the prequels. Hayden had a much tougher job tbf.

I think the weirdest part of this whole thing for me is the fact that in episode 1 Jake Lloyd was 11, meanwhile Natalie Portman was 18. FAST FORWARD TO EPISODE 2 AND THE CHARACTERS ARE NOW THE SAME AGE WHAT.

The best (only good, really) part about seeing AOTC in theaters was the audience's reactions to the Anakin and Padme scenes; specifically when they transition from frolicking in the flower field to sitting by the fire in Padme's room on Naboo. At least two people called out, "Oh, damn!" and one guy yelled, "They don't waste any time!"

Whole theater broke out in laughter and the movie was better for it.

The costume designs are really on point in the PT. I think every outfit for The Queen/Padme is amazingly well done.
