Spoken like a true Hitchcock villain

Incidentally, Hitchcock buff here. I used to watch Hitchcock Presents every day with my brother when I was like.. 12.

I have miles of VO to edit and it's just a really tedious unappealing job, largely because I can't listen to music while doing it. So... Face staring.

VO, huh? I don't know what you do for a living/passion/whatever, but if you're in the kind of job that allows for volunteers and you ever need any, keep me in mind! I want to do more VO stuff to add to my portfolio.

That is, if VO stands for voice-over. If it doesn't then nevermind!

Good morning GAF.
Or whatever time it is where you guys all are

0630 here as well!

Nearly 10pm here. Bed time soonish.

Night soonish.

It does.

If anyone here does VO, particularly character acting, and has reels, I'd love to hear them. I can't promise work since most the roles are now cast, but I like having options.

It just so happens I'm putting together a reel in about a week. Bought a mic last night. Hopefully I don't disappoint! But hey, either way, 'tis good for me to finally get one together.

Nice. :)

I'm becoming an amazing director. Yesterday I actually said "Perfect. Now do it again, please." Without irony. Then realized it and laughed. (And then had them do it again, nonetheless)

Ha, you fiend.

That's so cool that you're helming something like that, though. Really rings home to me that I wish I could live 500 years. There are so many things I want to do. :x

I can do nothing at home for sooooooo long. Endless backlog of games and movies. Things to learn, games to develop, programming, whatever. Never getting bored nowadays.

Haha, yeah.

I'm not really a director, I'm just kind of finding myself in a position where I have to wear many hats and just do whatever it takes. I found out pretty early on that most actors, even good ones, don't give great reads at first. You have to figure out a way to get to the good read.

Some of my genius moves are "say that again, but different" or "keep saying that different ways until I tell you to stop".

Oh right. Y'all don't have daylight savings there. My bro lives near Brissy. Been there for years. Never visited. Worst sister confirmed. He's getting married in April so I'm being forced to go there ):

We're either still in denial or so ferociously stubborn that we won't cave in. :p

You should definitely check it out, if not at least for either Coast, especially during this weather.

Luckily we might in the "swamp, but not like a bad one" season by the time you come up so you can enjoy ALL of the beaches.

Also, congrats to your brother!

Those are kind of the sorts of things I tell myself internally whenever I'm practicing. We're probably both on the right track with that sort of stuff, haha.

For now I've just had a blast impressing people at parties, usually when friends and acquaintances keep asking me to do impressions of other people we know but occasionally it'll get more in-depth and I'll do a bunch of more well-known roles. I don't know if I'm actually good, but I'm at least okay enough to have found a niche at parties, and I'd like to turn it into supplemental income someday if skill and time permit.

Once you start recording yourself and listening back (if you haven't already been doing this) you'll find this a good exercise because you'll hear a lot of things you didn't notice while actually speaking.

It's a real craft that people improve with practice and study. Some people are naturally more gifted than others, of course, but like with most things it's quite mechanical and it can be learned.

People who are very uninhibited tend to adopt acting/VO easily. You have to not care what anyone thinks or be afraid of sounding silly.

Just warn me now, is it gonna be sticky and humid in April. I'm preparing for the worst. Plus the whole having to wear a dress and heels thing.
;_;

aye

not me though

;_;
not me
God speed

Also I'm heading to bed now. Got my comfy Peter Alexander PJs on. It's like snuggling in a cloud.

Night realgaffers. Don't get too creepy while I'm gone.

It can be. Most of the time it clears up by March and starts to really cool down in April but in really off chances there can be humid periods of a day or two. Pack a backup, juuuuuuuuust incase.

Oh man. That is so true. That's how I got into acting back when I was 16. (I was Rocky in RHP for a while.) Talk about a trial by fire... but it really opened me up. Fantastic experience.

Night, Cat!

"InuYasha! Snap out of it! That woman doesn't have a face! :o"

Oh my gobrino dubbed Kagome is a national treasure

Edit: I posted this in the wrong thread, but screw it, I'll leave it here

I have never watched Inu Yasha aswell... and I watched a lot of animes.

You guys always make fun of english dub... You never have heard german dubs then... I couldn't even put in words how bad some of them are.

Dubs in movies and tv shows are fine, but when it comes to anime and bideo games... holy crap.

Edit:
bideo games... Wow.

we make fun of German enough. <3

tbf as an animu nerd, ive never watched inuyasha

:p

I watched the first season (out of seven IIRC, plus the final chapter that came out a few years ago to wrap things up) way back in 2002-03 when it was on Toonami. Quite literally half a lifetime ago. I have very peculiar memories of InuYasha; I was frequently homeless in my teens and I'd sneak into my friend's house through his bedroom window at midnight so we could both catch whatever anime was on, then sneak out. >_>;

So this is an experience, heading back to this goofy show.

That's a shame. Maybe someday they'll improve. :/

Fun fact: "to smash" is called "zerSCHMETTERn" in German.

Personally I will always prefer English (or Japanese with subtitles for anime) so it doesn't matter to me that much, but atleast you can get a good laugh out of it sometimes.

I tried out The Last of Us in German once... and I actually died a little inside.

Thats deep dude, without going into too much detail ill just say I was homeless too, so the feels are there.

We all know German, was devised to express that inner rage.
