:D I'll use that in february thanks

Your problem is that you're constantly making StoveTop.

Well I mean, fuck potatoes am I right?

The more I read up on that online D&D site, the more hyped I am to set up a new campaign. Who would be down?

I'd love too but I got too much other shit going on right now.

And by too much other shit I mean DOTA (and some other games) and a podcast. :lol

How would you run it? Via skype?

Anybody have anything exciting going on this weekend?

My big plans are football and wings tomorrow, then getting my hair cut on Sunday. Maybe stop at Whole Foods and get some $13/lb chicken.

Noooope.

Unless you count housework? Place is a shambles as I haven't had a chance to do much since we got back from holidays and I went back to work.

Making up for it by watching a Ken Burns doco right now and drinking a beer at 1am. You can't get more exciting than that.

How does dungeons and dragons work?

You make a character that fits into the campaign (like, a level 1 character for a level 1 campaign) and then you and a few other people who have made characters go on an adventure that is overseen by a Dungeon Master.

Combat is played out in a series of dice rolls, you vs. the Dungeon Master. There are also skill checks to perform outside of combat that require dice. And there is also investigation and conversation to be had with NPCs.

I've never played D&D. I designed and played MUD's growing up and always found them more interesting. Plus I didn't have friends.

Came home early today. I have so much plus hours which I must use, so I returned home two hours earlier and watched ski flying world cup.

After I stopped playing D&D I moved on to MUDs pretty heavily. They were way better than the non multiuser games of the day imo

Though the goldbox games made for a pretty good recreation of the D&D experience.

Watch the video I linked earlier

I wasn't particularly interested until I watched that, because it always seemed like this really dry, boring, nerdy thing. Like you never get the feeling it can be really silly from the descriptions.

The best part is when your character forces you into silly situations and you find a way to role play it out.

If the group of people are dry, boring, and nerdy though it's a pretty bad experience.

Haha I think at first I wouldn't be super full time on it (also have other engagements) but I'll end up trying a couple of sessions with peeps.

I haven't gone all the way through the tutorials yet, but it looks like it has a chat engine but Skype would probably be on top for voice shenanigans.

I'm in, if only to be awkward and be at work/asleep when everyone else is available

Hells yeah, don't worry, I got ya covered for the awkwardness. I can provide enough in spaaades.

I'll get names and stuff together in the morning

The combat in dragon's dogma looks so good. I am so looking forward to getting home and playing it.

when I first played it in 2012, I thought it marked a big step forward in how action rpgs are conceived and that everything was going to change. Instead, nothing changed and the game was largely forgotten. I don't get it.

The best people to play with are the ones who completely let go and enjoy the ride.
I'm not on board with the traditional "noble fantasy" way of playing.
I love it when people embrace the silliness

Ya I had a general idea, but didn't really know how it all worked.

Ok I will.

Also makes for some really creative solutions to problems. Like when my sister fed herself to a dragon in order to force it to drink a Potion of Diminution. Good times.

I...think I've seen this before.

Might set up an account tomorrow morning and test it out!

It is something I keep coming across, but I never used it.

Some goons did a D&D LP using that site, seemed pretty good

Also you should all watch it because it's fucking hilarious

If anyone's played Roundabout or is looking forward to 100ft Robot Golf, Panzer in the videos is the designer at No Goblin and it probably explains a lot about those games. Also Jeffrey the Skeleton.

Awesome. Hope we can get something rolling. Sadly I have zero experience with that software

in RL I wear beanies so much that my own mother once said it's the only thing she immediately recognizes me by

This is me in the winter.

It's cold here and as soon as I put on a beanie my hair is a complete mess so there is no point in pulling off the beanie.

If I decide on a beanie in the morning, it's an all day beanie.

My hair is stupid. If I take a shower and put on a hat, my hair is forever stuck in that hat-head position until I take another shower. So if I make the decision to wear a hat, it's hat all day.

This makes dinner on those days at the in-laws fairly awkward if i'm wearing my Sunday best:
