sonarrat said:Topic says it all. That's about as much time as I'm willing to spend with any game lately, anyway. For my purposes, I'd like suggestions for X360/BC or DS/GBA only. I don't mind if the topic gets derailed slightly for other consoles though.

well, clearly you've got your priorities set...
Just kidding. As for short games....I don't know many 5 hour ones.....however, many are 10 hours....

Do not listen to this man unless you like escorting the mentally challenged through slow, repetitive puzzles. Go with Sands of Time instead.Blunty said:Well I guess it's getting derailed for other console very quickly, but the game that immediately springs to mind for me is Ico.

Krowley said:you could also just take a 20+ hour game and break it down into 4+ play sessions..
Then you could get ninja gaiden black, or metroid prime, or mgs3 or RE4, and you would be much happier.
5 hour games are generaly crappy games... making a game that short in this day and age is a signal that they didn't really care about the game.
sonarrat said:Pity. 5 hours used to be long for a game.
Aaron said:Pirates! Is cheap, BC, and while not 5 hours long, you'll pretty much have done everything you can do in the game at that point. It's concentrated fun before it wears out its welcome though.

You're pretty much in the same boat I'm in then. Gears of War should be at the top of your list for 360 games.sonarrat said:A 5-hour game is still 4+ play sessions for me. I work 40 hours a week - the only time I play handhelds is on the 20-minute round trip bus ride, and my 360 has to fight for priority with everything else I have to take care of in an average week.
I just beat Ninja Gaiden Black for the first time last month. It took me about 2 - 3 months to finally complete it.sonarrat said:I've played all of those games. They made me no happier.
If you want old school games like that that can be completed in one sitting, your best choices are DS and Wii. There are a ton of games that are already available that you could either complete in one sitting or are designed to be divided up into sections with the intention that long breaks may occur between play sessions. The reason I suggest Contra (almost any game in the series) Sin and Punishment and Ikaruga is because they can be completed in one sitting. I'm talking between 1 - 2 hours. The thing that makes them so great is that the levels are a blast and they make you want to comback for more and perfect it. They are the type of game that you will restart if you die before you get through the third level. They're just a blast to play. There are sure to be more games like it on Wii. It's only a matter of time before a light gun game comes out that falls in the same category. If you don't want games like that, I would also suggest any of the Castlevania games (GBA & DS) Metroid (GBA) and New Super Mario Bros. You probably won't beat them in less than 5 hours the first play through, but it's possible to that afterward. They are designed to be played in short sessions though. One last option is XBLA. I can't really comment because I haven't downloaded any of the games, but I imagine there are some games that sould be competed rather quickly on it.sonarrat said:Pity. 5 hours used to be long for a game.
