Recommend me a cheap RWD car.

I don't want to spend too much money, maybe $4000 max on a car. I already have a Camry (400k+ and still strong), but need a fun summer car.

My needs:

- manual transmission
- pretty good on gas (ie fuel efficiency)
- compact (2 door coupe or hatchback)
- RWD. This is the kicker it seems. I can't find many affordable used, RWD cars.

Look at the Mazda Miata. You'll find them for good prices, small/RWD, and parts are easily available for them.

Toyota MR2 is your best bet (maybe Nissan 240sx).

Good cars, but they are harder to find and will cost more.

I can't find the hardtop, only the convertible. I don't want to buy a convertible because I plan to use the car in winter if my Camry kicks it.

This guy might know of one.

E30 BMW's
325i or a 318i
can be had for less than $4,000. I bought a '90 325i with a brand new motor, immaculate interior for about $2,500 last year. Now it's gone cause i barely drive it :( While i had it, it was a blast to drive and had some charm to it. You dont get that kind of charm or feeling driving a newer BMW nowadays :\

step away from the Nissan 240's and '86 Corollas. Although they are SUPER EASY to work on and reliable, they are harder to find (driving the used prices up) and are a magnet for thieves, not to mention all the looks you will get from all the retarded kids. I had an S14 ('95 240sx) and sold it particular of all the looks and attention it got from cops/thieves

How are those early 90s BMWs to work on? I'm thinking about picking up something like that but I want to be able to do basic work myself. I wonder how the fuel economy is...

'83 (i think?) Volvo 240 turbo flatnose coupe

or a Miata...both are fun as fuck to flog around...personally, I prefer the volvo just because it's a volvo :P

240SX for sure.

Don't get a Trueno/ AE86 as they require skill to drift if that interests you.

From what I've learned the 240sx is a better to mess around with.

RWD + winter = ...

Miata + straight man = ...

Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of good things to say about the Miata. I just wouldn't be seen driving one on a regular basis...
