I want to find some easy multiplayer games to play with my wife who doesn't really like to play game. The only game we have ever played together is Bomberman on Dreamcast. However my DC just died last month and she has no interest to play modern consoles because the controller is too intimidating to her.

That leaves me with the good old SNES as the only choice.

Super Bomberman is a no-brainer but I want to find more games that me and my wife can have a good time. When I search "best mp SNES" I always see great games like DKC, Legend of Mana, TMNT, etc but those games are too complicate for her.

Any recommendation?

One of the best SNES multiplayer game is easily Goof Troop from Capcom! It's kind of a Zelda game where you have to solve puzzle with your partner, it's great!

I think Zombies Ate My Neighbors is easy enough. Its co-op is loads of fun also.

No way, I wouldn't classify it as easy. Fun as hell, but it gets really challenging in later levels.

Lots of buttons when you take weapon switching into account, though I like it....

Super Bomberman is my goto since you can largely ignore the third button, so you're on the right track OP.

Any interest in Beat-em-ups? Tons of mashing to be had in Final Fight 2 and 3. Maybe Pocky and Rocky?

Can't go too wrong with puzzle games if you're evenly matched.

EDIT: Looking at the list of games maybe try these, as well:

Stunt Race FX (if Kart is too fast)

Mario Kart is too fast for her (... I know). I'm thinking Micro Machine might be more suitable.

Do you have a Wii or Wii U? The multiplayer on the mario/sports games are really newb friendly.

Secret of Mana has a co-op mode.

Kirby Super Star is perfect since two players could be on the screen, and the Kirby games are great for beginners since they are baby platformers.

Kirby Super Star and Kirby's Dream Land 3, the co op character can be re-created near-infinitely in either game so it's no problem if they die.

I'll go ahead and anti-recommend Donkey Kong Country, it's idea of two player (in all 3 games) is rather bad and the games are a lot harder for novices than I remember. Avoid any controller-passing/turn taking games in general IMO, worst relic of multiplayer of that gen.

Kirby Super Star is pretty great. You can spit out a full health co-op partner practically any time you want.

TMNT IV: Turtles in Time is the best SNES co-op of all time. It's a pretty easy brawler that's easy to learn. Check it out.

It's a very underrated gem IMO. By the creator of the Resident Evil series btw. Fun fact: Resident Evil 1 actually runs on an expanded version of the Goof Troop engine.

It will always be too intimidating for her until she actually plays a modern game and gets used to it a bit.

But still, why not try TMNT4: Turtles in Time or Super Double Dragon. Or Secret of Mana. Good co-op experiences all.
