Just no to Death Grips!
I know of them because of some free album with Bjork, but they're just noise to me.(and everyone else I assume?)

Biz Markie is more my style, and that video is pretty funny :) Will see what else he has done.

Warren G and Nate Dogg is a classic I forgot about and I've got some Pete Rock & CL Smooth so I'll check out the other two, seems to be what I'm looking for.

In fact They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.) is a good one I missed

No problem, I've been a hip hop head since the 90's, there's a ton of great music in that genre.

Also check out the 3 "Soundbombing" albums and the 2 "Lyricist Lounge" albums for some variety.

And I see someone posted Pete Rock & CL Smooth - T.R.O.Y. (They Reminisce Over You) which might be the greatest song of all time :)

Basically I want funky tunes, without too much cursing and swearing, and not too much songs about bitches, hoes and f******!

Nice, I've never heard of Soundbombing or Lyricist Lounge, look like they're up my street though.

They are compilation albums by Rawkus Records which really jump started the careers of guys like Mos, Talib, Company Flow, etc. Fantastic Albums.

Please doing self-censor it makes me cringe, you also have a damn Eminem song on the list...

Oh I don't mind swearing, just not too much!
You must know what I mean?
Niggas and hoes and bitches and faggots and pussy and what not, I like it to be a bit more 'happy' than that.
Gangster shit with nigga I don't mind, I do like Ice T a lot but he's a bit more political than most.

Why are people recommending Death Grips????

I love Death Grips, but absolutely nothing like what he's listen in any shape or form. Dalek are also much more experimental and abstract than anything listed here, both bands might as well be about pain and anguish as well.

Mmm, yeah I'm just looking for the American point of view, I'm from the UK remember.
Modern club/radio shit does nothing for me.
90's hip hop is great though.
Just looking for what I might have missed...
I missed most of it back in the day :-(

OP, I can promise you this "Hip Hop" is not what you're looking for, haha.

I know, I've tried Death Grips, it's not for me!
I don't want experimental weird shit, just funky!

Maan Young fathers got some uplifting songs, don't they? Like Only Child and shit. I don't know much old school stuff. :(

I'm not too familiar with the groups but I know the style. I'm not saying it's bad, it's not for me, but it's vastly different than the style of Hip Hop the OP's looking for.

If you're looking for great production, anything by DJ Premier (gangstarr) is an instant classic. Also; Pete Rock, Diamond D, Hi-Tek, El-P, Large Professor, Prince Paul, 9th Wonder, Kno are all great.

Sounds good man, I'm all over that shit.
And I haven't heard of all of them!
