Recommendations for Dragon Ball Games?

I know I'm going to get my ass kicked for saying this, but I think Infinite World is pretty good. It's basically an expansion pack to B3 with adding some things and removing some things.

It takes out the QTE's from B3 and has a more cancel and juggle based system, it also has a better capsule system and more characters (Though I like DB Goku over Goku GT) Of course there is some things I like more in B3 than I did in IW, and B3 will take far more time to 100% than IW even if IW has more content.

If you want a game to kill time then B3 is better since it has more to do, while IW is more of a fighting game at it's core than a DBZ game.

I like BT3 more than either of them, and is a game a can pop in, not just because it has more characters than the raging blast series, but because it feels far faster and better over all.

OP please remember this. Budokai and Burst Limit are great games but they aren't very DBZ. Budokai Tenkaichi 2/3 on PS2 are the only games I've played that encapsulates the feel of DBZ. It shouldn't really be played on a 2D field any more than Street Fighter should be played on a 3D one. That's not to say the Budokai Tenkaichi series is the only good one...there are plenty of good DBZ games. They just aren't very good DBZ games.

See, I feel the opposite. I feel that the Tenkaichi/Raging Blast styled games capture the feel of DBZ pretty well... but are far more fun to watch than to play, whereas the Budokai games are pretty much fun fighting games with a DBZ skin over it.

Different strokes, I guess. I'd personally say both the Budokai games and the Tenkaichi games are good DBZ games.

Infinite World is great. My only (minor) gripes were:

- Unlocking characters is a bit of a pain because of how awful the story mode is to play through.
- They brought over Janemba and Pikkon from Shin Budokai, but couldn't be bothered to bring over Future Gohan? He was by far the most interesting iteration of Gohan to play as.
 
My recommendations.

Dragonball Origins (DS) - Very fun adventure game for the DS. It's kinda like the DBZ games for GBA, but in 3D. Also a good way to learn about the Dragonball story, which I like way more then the DBZ story. I think the game goes all the way up to
the World Tournamet Arc
. It's also very long. It took me a while to beat it.

Dragonball Z Buu's Fury (GBA) - The best of the DBZ GBA games. You get to play as a lot more characters, and it's way more fun then the Legacy of Goku games. In Buu's Fury, you won't be dying against wolves as Goku like in Legacy of Goku.

These are good DBZ adventure games. I'm guessing everyone else recommended the fighting DBZ games.

I know. It could have still been a completely new series once they had the timeskip to the Sayans arc. ,,YOU'RE ALL ALIENS AND THE DRAGONBALLS ARE ALSO ALIENS'' was a completely nonsensical retcon (among many others) that came out of nowhere, with literally zero foreshadowing and even somewhat of a genre shift, even though both are shounen/fighting.
Hence, the original DB is less of an origin story, but a very good adventure/comedy series on it's own, that one shouldn't miss out on.

There also was a second game for the Red Ribbon arc, but that one reviewed much worse, for whatever reason. Still, this and DB Advanced Adventures has been a slight blip on my radar for quite some years, I should get around to them eventually...

Bulma does wonder if Goku is an alien during the bit where he's fighting Son Gohan to revive Umpa's dad, to be fair. And, also to be fair, the story started out as a comedy about traveling the world to collect magical balls and ended with a tournament fighting what was considered the reincarnation of the devil. The story changed directions multiple times.
 
Budokai 3, Legacy of Goku 2 and Buu's Fury are my three favorite DBZ games. Budokai 3, covers all of DBZ, including some parts of GT. Legacy of Goku 2 covers the Cell Saga in great detail and Buu's Fury is a sequel which covers everything from end of Cell to the end of DBZ in great detail.
 
Thanks all, I'll keep Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and the HD collection in mind, just waiting on Origin now. Does the Wii version of Budokai Tenkaichi 3 work well with the motion controls? The thought of doing a Kamehameha with a Hadouken-movement is overriding my distaste of the eBay prices. :P
 
We played hours of Ultimate Battle 22 on PSX back then, it was also one of the first games I imported for the console. You should give it a try.

Nope this is the worst db game i played. All the attacks where done the same way, looked the same, the game itself was clunky as hell, everything looked out of place. In my opinion this is one of the worst games i ever had to play and it is a dragonball game... That says a lot :/

The motion controls were fun enough in BT2. But it's been some time since I've played it and iirc they somewhat changed the controls in BT3 (In BT2 it was quite a clever use of the pointer. Iirc you had to move the pointer outside and back into the screen in several variations, that would mimic the arm movements of each attack)
 
Attack of the Saiyans was excellent. I really wish there was a second one for the Frieza saga. Hell, if quality didn't drop I'd want all of the sagas done this way.
 
I've been playing lately Dragon Ball Goku Densetsu on the Nintendo DS. Its all the story of Dragonball where Vegeta and friends came to earth and the battles with Frieza. Its played out throw 4 characters. Its a card game battle which the cards also act on a baordgame. Love the game
