ReCore Gamescom Gameplay Trailer

Gamespot can hold this L relating this to Megaman
I assume MN9 was fresh out of Inafunes ass when that quote was made - is it part of their E3 impressions? Otherwise I see literally no relevance to a MM successor.

Pretty stupid of marketing to even use the quote too. The irony being Inafune is probably just as involved in this lol.

im coming around a bit, this footage looked pretty cool. i liked the cruising on the grappling hook while the rail was moving.

Framerate looked really choppy. I want to be excited for this game, but it doesn't really seem to be what I was hoping for. :/

The platforming and exploration looks like it could be really fun, but I still think the shooting looks weak. I don't think auto-aim has any place in games in 2016. Also a couple of guys after E3 said the game has questionable structure where it locks you in a room until you've defeated all of the enemies, which I also think is kind of archaic and isn't very good gameplay design.

Fingers crossed though because I do like the style and premise, and we definitely need more female protagonists in games. Joule looks pretty awesome and I like her design.

Looks rough, but enjoyable. Very interested in seeing review scores.

And I really hope this is successful and MS starts to make $40-$50 single/double-A games a thing for them. Would love to see MS greenlighting a few smaller and more experimental projects, as opposed to their usual output.

The only way you can justify auto aim is if there's a focus of rapid mobility in combat encounters. Even then it would be more fun for a skilled player to have to manually do the aiming.

I haven't really got that impression from either of the gameplay trailers.

I see this game as a 40$ game which it is. I think the gameplay looks fun even if the visuals and animations aren't up to today's standards.

The gameplay certainly looks interesting with the different characters all having their role. Some of the Metroid Prime guys are working on this right ?

Yeah former employees of RetroStudios are also involved with this game, Armature Studios.

Gameplay looks fun. Hopefully the PC version allows for a higher framerate.

Still going to wait for more impressions before getting excited.

This games out in less then a month and this is the first gameplay we've seen right?

Nah, we saw a gameplay trailer at E3 and it was on the show floor for people to play.

Is it my computer or is the framerate shite?

It's a Unity game. I don't think I've seen a Unity game able to keep even steady 30fps on PS4 and Xbone yet.

Yeah, in the combat in this trailer at 0:05, 0:38 and 0:45 the player is almost standing still while fighting, making the combat look dreadfully uninteresting. She's got that jetpack-dash, so show a bit of that. Feature some advanced moves which show off the combat with a bit more life and energy!

The art style looks terrible! Should have went with something similar to Borderlands or Ratchet and Clank.

Honestly, I doubt they have the budget for highly detailed cartoon-esque visuals a la R&C. I doubt that comes cheap.

From the actual Gamespot article

If you're looking for a spiritual successor to Mega Man, you may want to pay more attention to Recore. The Xbox One- and PC-exclusive is designed by Keiji Inafune, creator of Mega Man, and the similarities between them are obvious.

Our hands-on demo began with a quick introduction to Joule, the hero of Recore. She's a lithe young scavenger who is light on her feet and acrobatic to boot. Like the Blue Bomber, she zips around arenas, almost as if on skates. In the air she can follow up a jump with a double jump and also dash laterally using thrusters in her boots. This ability gives her some air control, much like you'd have during the descent of Mega Man's jump.

While Joule may not have an arm cannon to fire laser shots from, her assault rifle does the job just as effectively. As developer Armature's co-founder Mark Pacini puts it, this is “not a game about aiming.” You can fire freely, but pulling the left trigger locks onto enemies. Holding the right trigger then fires a spread shot, while holding the right bumper, you can unleash a more powerful charged shot.

The guy who is wrote this is a good dude and if he thinks its similar to MN9, thats good enough for me. He knows his shit!

It's a high speed shooter with lots of platforming and hitting enemies with the correct weapon upgrade/color. I don't think it's that much of a stretch.

I have no idea what the people raving about in this thread are seeing. Game looks like a mess to me.

Why anyone want an xbox and pc? Doesn't make much sense. I would probably get a PC + NX or Xbox + NX but PC + Xbox, why?

Some people have different values to how they game vs. how you envision to game. Some people have their PC in a different room, on a smaller screen and an Xbox on a bigger screen in a different room. Going from place to place and not having to move anything and play as they expect is a value to them. Also, some people already had an Xbox and a PC before the announcement so why not take advantage of the situation? It all depends on what a person values.

I'm definitely getting ReCore. I'm all for action adventure games.

Ahahahaha

"The Mega Man successor you've been looking for"

The full quote is probably "While inafune is working on it, Recore certainly doesn't look like The Mega Man successor you've been looking for".

And it doesn'ook bad until things start moving.
The animation and janky movements of the main character are completely ruining the feeling

Doesn't look very good to be honest.

You guys can stop pretending this will be anything other than average.

Why would gamespot call it a megaman successor? Which one? And it dont look like megaman. I get inafune working on it but thats dumb. Still getting it but tf?

Maybe it has something to do with almost getting like... boss-like powers after you defeat the stage bosses, by putting that core thingy in their defeated bodies?
I dunno, I've never really been a fan of Moogamanz anyways.

This game, however... I get a little bit more interested in it everytime I see it.

Floating numbers? That's my fetish.

edit: wait, I thought this game was a next year thing. It doesn't seem like they have enough time to polish it up.

The gunplay heavily relies on you switching the colors of your attacks (red, blue, yellow) so based on the enemies you will be using the d-pad throughout fights to switch colors based on the enemy to do more damage and take them down. It's also heavily reliant on the different companions that go along with these, so you'll be constantly trying to manage that, which is why when I played it auto aim made sense.

Also someone else mentioned it, but you'll want to be continuously moving most of the time due to hazards around you and the enemies fighting you, so using the dash and jumping is pretty key while trying to manage the different colored bullets and companion swaps. For example the section I played at E3 had a floor with lava under vents that would shoot up into various sections of the floor while I was trying to fight ranged enemies perched up on ledges shooting down on me, and while the ground tank units were trying to squash me. It got very hectic trying to shoot the ledged yellow enemies while dodging the lava and the red enemies at my feet. Periodically telling my companion to help me out, making sure I didn't get engulfed and squashed...it made for a fun but hectic time and I was thankful for auto aim haha.

And yes, people are right in that the game has a definite jank to it. I still wouldn't write it off because of that though. The game is $40 for a reason, but there seemed like a strong promise based on what was played.

Animation look pretty bad and overall it looks like a very generic third-person platformer.
This trailer didn't sell me the game. Should have shown some unique mechanics if there are any.

Other than the walk animations, the game looks good imo, i need to see a demo tho
