Highly doubt that, considering this is almost definitely Marston.

The #1 reason I think this is Marston, other than the fact it looks like him, is that he's facing a different direction. The rest of the gang is looking forward, but John is looking away.

Thematically, this is in line with John's character, who was the first to leave the gang when he set his sights on something else and is heart wasn't in it anymore.

This is one of those times when I wish I could be excited like everyone else. I played RDR but like all R*'s other games, it just didn't grab me. Sounds strange I know but I just can't get into any game from them with the exception of finding some enjoyment in Bully. All my friends are pumped but I'm just meh. Awesome news for those waiting on this though.

I like this theory a lot.

It would be cool to see Marston from a third person's perspective.

You wonder if Microsoft would try and convince Rockstar to make RDR2 part of Play Anywhere. Would be a huge get.

It means a PC version comes and only requires one version being made that would deploy across both Xbox consoles and PC. I doubt it would happen, but they'd be silly not to have the conversation.

I hope the game pulls a fast one on us - and the advance marketing is all about Marston and Dutch's gang...and the tutorial has you play as them as they come into a town and stake out a bank robbery/make a getaway and then the actual game focuses on a new character or two from the town picking up the pieces/dealing with the consequences, etc.
This was what I was thinking as well

the first trailer being a heist or stick up showing each member of Dutch's Gang starting fuckery and ending with Marston joining

I officially need nothing else but this game next fall. This is all I'll be playing. Can't wait for the trailer.

I feel like Microsoft would prefer to have RDR2 as a marquee Scorpio game.

Curious as to who the cast will be. Considering Revolver had a very diverse cast of playable characters (Annie, Buffalo Soldier, Jack, Red, the Colonel, and Shadow Wolf), and that was like a decade ago, less than that here would be a bummer.

I know R* doesn't do gameplay in their reveal trailers, but the fact that this game only has a 1 year reveal-release time-span makes me hope Thursday's trailer is substantial. At least as big as GTA V's reveal trailer, where you got a good sense of how it would look (and play).

I just see a dude in hat that just happens to be looking to the side. Just like all the Call of Duty covers.

Same. Rockstar games just don't grip me even after several hours and me acknowledging parts that I think are cool/fun. Hopefully RDR2 grabs a hold of me, I played the last one for a day and by the end of it wasn't convinced, same with GTA V but I gave that a week.

Only 8.22% of us listened to the Bombcast the episode that Jeff and Co. went over the "Better get THE BENZ" emails apparently, because I laughed my ass off during that segment & easily earned my vote for this poll.

RDR2 will be great, zero doubts about it.

You know else looked "Marston-esque"?

I mean, kinda sorta? But I'd say the guy in the RDR2 poster has a little more in common with RDR Marston than that....

Still not saying it's him, and honestly I'd prefer it if we did get an entirely different story with all new characters. Still bummed about the name regardless.

I'm oddly super excited for the multiplayer in this game. I had a surprisingly great time with RDR's MP.

Yea same here. I dunno how much Poker i played in there, i had a blast playing Red Deads MP with friends. And i love GTA Online as well, it's going to be interesting to see what R* will do with "Red Dead Online". Knowing myself, i'll probably be dumb enough to go for the Plat Trophy again.

Interesting theory. Honestly, I want more Marston and was originally hoping this would be a prequel. I'd be more than okay with that.

My fave RDR MP moment was taking a longshot at a gang of 8 other players who were going round the map starting shit.

I took out two of them as the others gave chase shooting after me. I led them to the entrance of the mines where other players were waiting and we had a massive shootout I ducked down into the mines haha

Very cool theory. Honestly I am 100% on board with a prequel.

No PC release no buy from me. I kinda liked the first (I'm not too fond of the rockstar games), hopefully there will be a "late" release like with GTA V.

What was the problem with Mexico again? I can't remember having an issue with that part of the game.

Length and tenuous thematic ties to the rest of the game. It's a lot of crisscrossing the mexican side of the map doing favors for NPCs until you get what you came for all along, only to then have Bill flee Mexico back to his compound up north making the entire section feel like a waste of time.

I've always hated that when you kill another player, even in self defense they immediately just spawn nearby again. Just and endless deatmatch in open world. I always wanted more of the ability to hold a location or have a defined Victor when you clashed with other people or group. Like I don't want them to just spawn randomly around me somewhere in a circle so we just keep pot shooting eachother. If I kill you you should spawn a solid few minutes away. Unless you're in some kind of death match.

Damn son. I like this a lot.

Sony and Rockstar have had a long partnership. It would be surprising if it didn't continue with this game.

Naming it RDR2 was a no brainer. You wouldn't sacrifice such brand strenght for consumer whim.

Yeah, consumers are stupid, aren't they. I wonder how they even bought so many Red Dead Redemption copies considering that the game wasn't called Red Dead Revolver 2. Can't take such HUGE risk again.

I think they could have gotten away with it if they had come out sooner. After 6 years though, you can't leave that to chance with the mass market.

I mean, I thought it was generally proven that games with a number on the end sell better on average than sequels with subtitles.
