Red Dead Redemption Reaches 14 Million Copies Shipped

Easily Rockstar's best game, loved every minute of it. Had hoped they would have taken some of the rhings I loved from it, (a good story and script, slightly more personal and interactive world instead of a continually bigger one), and applied them to GTA V but...yeah didn't pan out for me personally.

Remaster then sequel indeed please!

RDR related PR out of nowhere...

Could just be a statement to keep shareholders happy, wonder if they have a lot of money currently sunk into developing a related project...

Yeah I hope they're working on a sequel or at least a remaster. I had to make do with the sub-HD PS3 version. Still looked really good though.

This doesn't look 60fps to me?

It doesn't look like a true 60fps to me either, but I does look noticeably smoother than how the game runs on either console.

Give us RDR remaster and then a full sequel, all to tide us over during what'll be a long wait for GTA6.

I think a sequel could do even better. This is one of those games people still talk highly of years after its release.
I've had it on my shelf for over a year now and still haven't played past the first few missions. Gotta get back to it sometime this year.

It's easily my favorite game exclusive to consoles. It's an amazing game that I've played at least 5 times. I can't wait for a sequel. It's the only reason I keep my 360 around.

I really, really really really would like to know "why" Rockstar never ported this game like all their other games?

I loooved this game on my Xbox 360, it was by farm my favorite rockstar game, I liked it better then any of the GTA games.

I thought after RDR sold so well and got such great reviews that surely we'd see MORE old west themed games, finally I won't have to just keep going back to Outlaws/Sunset Riders and will get something new...but nope, nada, zilch. Outside of the Call of Juarez series (But that went off the rails with the last game) we aren't getting crap for old west games.

I really hope that Rockstar is already into deep development of RDR 2 and it's just a matter of a year or two before we see it, I don't want to have to wait another 4-5 years for a new one :(.

"Make it backwards compatible"

Kiss my ass.

This game deserves a complete overhaul and re-release similar to what GTAV got. 1080p/30fps (60 would be awesome) and improved everything.

Fuck this "Make it backwards compatible" shit.

It's good for people who already own the game and could play it like any other of their backwards compatible games right now.

Just do it Rockstar.

Even though RDR on both consoles is ~30fps with plenty of framerate dips, someone somehow made a couple of videos of the PS3 version uploaded in 1080p 60fps:

Looks like a simple upscale and frame doubler.

Not as good as I thought it would be.

Supposedly, the code is an absolute mess and very difficult to work with.

If that is the case, it's probably not worth essentially rewriting the game for a remaster/port.

I recall a lot of talk about troubled development, and that a port was out of the question because of unoptimized code. This game basically sent my launch PS3 to it's grave so I don't doubt it. I'm not interested in a 30 fps remaster though. Unless it's 180p60, I'd rather just get it on XB1 BC and have them focus on a sequel that releases day one on PC.

In my interchangeable top 3 from last gen with Gears 1 and Uncharted 2. Just an incredible game with one of the few most worthwhile DLCs I've ever nabbed.

The thing about an RDR sequel is that it probably can't be an actual sequel since the entire setting is the old west is dying. There are already automobiles and WW1 era weaponry.

I'm very bad at ranking anything. That said RDR is one of my top 3 favorite games, no question. No game has ever sold its setting and mood like RDR. Great to hear it still sells.

I pretty much hated GTA4 so was very apprehensive about this. Boy was I suprised at how awesome it was. Would love a remaster, but I guess a sequel is more likely at this point.

I just beat it tonight for the first time.
The "shootout" was beautiful.
I actually got used to the blurry PS3 look, it was one game where a soft look worked in its favor with the amazing landscapes.

I'm actually going to see Jose Gonzales play a free concert next month too, this was the game that introduced a lot of people to him.

I can smell a remaster (along with a PC porting) or a sequel incoming... you don't talk about a 5 years old game unless you're going to release something.

Or they are gearing up to announce the next game in the franchise. R* is due to announce a new game soon.

Edit: Saw you mentioned sequel. Lol no idea how I missed that first time

I guess I should add this to my nearly infinite backlog. Always meant to get this game, but it kept getting pushed aside for newer games.

Bought a digital copy just incase it goes on the backwards compatibility list on XB1 (who wants to shuffle discs, pfft).

Sequel needs to be a prequel about John, the gang he was hunting down in RDR and his realization he needs to get out of that life. Call it Red Dead Renegade, means we could play as John and not his little bitch of a son.

If I keep saying it the above will happen, right?

True. I just assume they'll make a prequel as far as the year it's set. Would be easy to do. I mean R* already likes to start fresh in each game as far as locales, main characters, etc. And they basically still have the entire old West era to use considering Redemption was set so late (1911 I think?).

It's like how GTA III was essentially modern day when it came out and then R* went to the 80's and 90's for Vice City and San Andreas respectively.

I've just started the game recently... I'm open to the fact that there is quality storytelling contained within the game.

But boy, the mission givers are as bad as the worst of GTA. Unrealistic one-note loonies who just go on about their one quirk (I'm an immoral elixir huckster! I'm a grave robber looking for treasure!)

Their best game IMHO even if it still had narrative flaws. Loved the setting.

All those lost PC sales though... Mind boggling.

Rockstar needs to come way out of left field for the next game to make a big splash.

Red Dead Robitics.

Cyberpunk western wooo

Nope, Last Samurai(Hollywood, not realistic) style.
American cowboy ends up in Japan, gets caught in the middle of that situation, the player picks what faction or factions to work for.

-Imperial
-Samurai
-Ninja
-Mercenary

So you'd basically start as a top of the line "cowboy" you get to keep much of what made Redemption great but now add a unique location and then stuff like swordplay and such is also added in slowly.
