I'll continue to enjoy plenty of games with a superior online experience for free, thanks.

People trying to justify paying for P2P multiplayer. :lol :lol

SUPERIOR ONLINE EXPERIENCE???????????? To what the Gamecube??

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

is sitting in a lobby for 40 minutes on PSN superior to matchmaking on Xbox Live that puts you in a game instantly?

oh nevermind I forgot about HOME and how awesome that turned out to be

Some more bullet points. (My large impression on Page 1):

- No penalty for quitting. In fact, the opposite. If you quit, you still keep half of the XP you had at the time you quit. A penalty for quitting only feels like a penalty when you lose points you had before you entered the game.
- Stealth pack is easily the worst pack. Stealth is still very visible. Since it's very easy to see in open terrain, it's only useful if you have debris to mix in with. If you're in an area with a lot of debris, you can already hide fairly well without stealth, so you've better off with another pack. Like...
- Rhino pack is my absolute favorite. In case you haven't read it 200 times yet, it allows you to burst through walls. Basically, it heaves you 10 feet forward, makes you invulnerable during the charge, and destroyes anything/anybody in front of you. While wall-busting is fun and whatever, the real power comes when you Rhinocharge a player. If you don't kill them in one hit, they are pushed away like a flying ragdoll with almost no health. If you have a lightning gun, you don't even need to aim to finish them off. :lol Rhino pack + lightning gun is just ridiculous.
- Concussion pack (knockdown all enemies around you) plays second fiddle to the Rhino pack. The Rhino charge has such a huge radius, the enemy just needs to be near you and within a 120 degree arc to be sent flying. Feels like a concussion pack, but with invulnerability and wall destruction capabilities.
- The game is totally different if you're playing with garbage players or good players. I suggest everyone at least try to play a solid game with good players on both sides and good communication for covering control points.
- Until you play a good game, the game degenerates into what feels like a free for all but with people you simply can't kill (teammates) :lol . Pretty much like any other game at the early stages (go play a social team slayer in Halo 3), but the real gold is in the good games.
- Once again, WAY too easy to cap. You can destroy a control point and cap it alone all within 8 seconds, which lends its hand to the problem of everyone doing their own thing. It's not such a big deal when you're playing a good game, but when you're the only coherent person on your team with critical thinking ability, whenever you ninja a new point, the point you previous ninjaed is already getting capped while your teammates are in the Xbox Guide menu browsing for Larry the Cableguy standup to Netflix.

couple other things I noticed are host switching in case of a host drop, pretty seamless excepts it resets your location to a spawn point but all other things are intact. Also a nice switch in the times of day for each map (2 in demo) 21 in full game plus a time of day change or two is nice.

Agree with the post above. also it goes to show how much diversity there is in the way you want to play the game. I love the Rhino also but I totally dig the jet pack and remote charges and raining bombs from the sky. On certain maps (or in certain situations) fleetfoot and a hammer is a melee players dream. :D Watched two snipers jetpack to a tower on warlords only to have one of our guys below out of the line of fire, drop the huge frikken thing while the snipers went tumbling, jetpacking off to have to fight it out on the ground.

Kind of col too that you can rebuild the walls around the checkpoints after securing it just to give a couple of more seconds to defend an attack.

I am having a blast. Turn the speed up and adjust the controls to alt 1 (left trigger zoom). the game moves smooth as butter too without any hiccups no matter what happens.

That's true. The game does have host-switching capabilities although I've also had a game (1) where the game stopped because the host disconnected.

I'm going to research if this game will include a skill leveling system for matchmaking. Since MP longevity is the reason I BUY multiplayer, it's a necessity. I don't want to have to play against potentially anybody all the time. I've quit games where my teammates just destroyed buildings the entire time. I'll help out new players, no problem, but 13 year olds leveling the map with their hammer? Fuck no. :lol

Who says I was talking about the PS3!?

Regardless, Sony have delivered certain online games with a much better infrastructure than any Xbox Live title for free, Resistance and Warhawk come to mind. Keep convincing yourself that a $50 fee is required to create a serviceable P2P online experience, whilst I'll enjoy dedicated servers, upto four times the player count and free multiplayer maps for the grand price of zero.

I don't care whether Xbox Live is better than other services or whether you feel its worth the fee or not, but the ridiculous notion that it requires a subscription fee to produce a serviceable and working online experience is laughable. Oh, and here's something that'll blow your mind I was playing on that network against Xbox 360 players the other day with my free silver account.

PS3 version working now. Must have been a server side issue.

What a surprise, the free version works just fine now, what's that $50 buying you now? Host advantage?

The demo wasn't all that fun for me, I played 5-6 games, and every game everyone was just running around spamming the rockets and the hammer, I tried all the weapons, and the majority of them really didn't have any "oomph" to me. Maybe one of the other gametypes would click better, I really just got more frustrated than anything playing tonight.

The SP demo had me wanting the game, but this one makes me not want it.

Don't bother arguing with people that clearly never played a PS3 game online. It's a waste of time.

Would you people PLEASE keep to yourselves? Golfhamit, everytime. Fanboys just can't shut up.

I played the demo for a good 45 minutes with a friend (finally, a MP demo that allows you to straight up play with friends) the electricity zapper gun thing is a bit too strong, but other than that, this is a solid game. Rhino is fun as hell.

And having to lead into sniper shots is lame. Why devs decided to use that, is beyond me.

We get it. You personally don't feel that XBL live is worth your own $50. You probably either: (A) resentfully pay for it, (B) move from free XBL code to free XBL code, or (C) flatly don't subscribe and just try to recruit others to your cause in every thread. Whether you choose A, B, or C (I'm guessing C), nobody gives a shit.

Me? I spent $50 on toilet paper this month and I'll throw down another $50 to be able to sit in party chat with my friends and make yo momma jokes. You don't think that's worth $50? --Psyche, I don't care. :lol

Oust this idiot and let's get back to Red Faction 2.

This guy knows whats up

My favourite pack was the stealth pack. I would crank it, sit behind a solid object near a capture point and creep up behind an oncoming enemy. Then i would procede to one hit kill him with my hammer. This game is so much.

Ps3 version still doesn't connect for me.

PS3 MP Demo Matchmaking

We wanted to let everyone know that we are aware of an issue surrounding the MP Demo matchmaking on the PS3 version of the demo. We are already looking into it, and will have more information soon.

We appreciate you patience during this time and I'll update this post once there is more information.

Really glad to hear everyone is enjoying the demo thus far. For those PS3 users, as shown by my quote above (with typo - whoops!), we are fully aware and looking into the issue.

Not in the demo :(

Does anyone know if there's a way to sprint (aside from the fleefoot backpack) ?

In multiplayer, the sprint function has been removed. This puts more emphasis on the backpack/weapon combination you use.

We have a TrueSkill based matching system for ranked mode playlists, so it will match you up with people who are at your skill level, and not necessarily just at the same in-game rank. There is also a custom skill-based ranking for the PS3 version.

For anyone wondering, the leveling system is sped up in the demo as well, just so that players could get a feel for how it will work in the final game. You can reach the demo maximum of Level 15 in under 10 games if you do well.

This one caught me off guard.. Downloaded it, was not expecting to like it but damn its fun. Might have sold me on the game, gotta get my friends to download this and try out the party system.

maybe i you can customize controls but,

i was baffled last night thinking, why cant i switch weapons using the D-Pad....specially with the fact that the HUD is designed looking like a D-Pad

You can, just have to hold the other button first.

I don't know if I like the MP demo (I loved the single player demo), I feel "lost" when I'm playing online, I need a radar, the sound sucks, the weapons need more "punch". Everything a little sluggish... I don't know yet, maybe I need to play more.

yes, play more and it might click... I admit the sound could use some punch and better direction (after BF:BC everything pales). I would like better feedback on when I'm firing and hitting a target and as much as I like the thump of the melee hammer, a crack when they have a helmet or armor on would be sweet. :)

I also would like a small GPS to at least give me better direction to the CPs.

That's one of the things I didn't like either. Sometimes you're just on your own, and it's just meh.

But having your 4 teammates around you with all different backpacks everyone going in the same direction is a blast. The guy with the rhino makes holes in the whole for the 4 others, the ones with jetpacks arrive from above just in case there are ennemies around the point, while concussion can push around every asshole attempting to ruin your reconstruction.

In another game we had all three points, and all had jetpacks, so we basically went to a high-up point to cover all the map, see which points the ennemies were heading towards, hammer them down, back to high-up hill, rinse and repeat :D

Also I have to disagree with what you said about stealth pack. We had a strong lead over the other team in one match, then they began to play almost exclusively stealth+sledgehammer, and they managed to take the lead at the last goddamned second (which is a terribly delicious side effect of your score incrementing every second). Something like 325 to 324. A single damn second. Damn.

So yeah, basically sometimes it's great but sometimes it isn't. Is the player max limit 10 in the full game too or is it just a demo thing ?

And does the unlockable sledgehammer and characters present any improvement other than cosmetic ?

In that regard everything was fine once I learned to read the HUD.

You can easily tell which direction it is to a cp, if it is yours or the ennemi's or blank, and if it it's getting destroyed or reconstructed.

true but on Warlords due to the vertical nature, you can not always see the icons. It'd be cool to glance at a GPS and see all 3 flashing either red, yellow or white to quickly start off in that direction.

I guess in time I'll learn the maps inside and out but it's just a bit disorienting at times especially when landmarks get destroyed :D.

Saw a guy in a building halfway across the map. Blew out the wall with a rocket, switched to sniper, took him out.

Guy standing on the floor above me, hiding from my arc welder. I Rhino'd through the pillars of the building, brought it down, electrocuted him to death.

I feel fucking awesome at this game.

There really is no better way to describe how this game plays. You really feel in total control of your character and you are encouraged to do very creative things quite often which are surprisingly not that hard to pull off.

"This Gamer Profile is Unable to play on Xbox Live. Please Check your Family Settings or Obtain an Xbox Live Gold Membership."

WTF? I have gold, I'm not banned, I have no family settings on... jesus.

Is the pistol in the demo? I can't find either the pistol or the gun that shoots out spinning blades. They're both missing from the beta. The pistol was my favorite weapon.

Btw, is the Xbox Live team stupid? They added another entry for the demo in the demo's page on NXE, but when you click the game cover art it takes you to the single player demo. You have to dig through a few pages to find the right demo.

I wish they had included deathmatch. Many of the people that I've played with so far either run off to knock things down or just spend time killing.

If you love Call Of Duty try alternate 1 for the control setup as it makes LT zoom in like CoD for my Xbox.

I took this advice without playing the default controls, and I'm glad I did, helped me jump right in with few adjustments.

About the game, fun as hell, love the variety in backpacks and how fast paced it is.

If you guys like the multiplayer, the game is going to blow your eyes out your ass. I don't even know how that's possible, but the game will do it and I can't. stop. playing. I put the review build in to play for 10 minutes and that was six hours ago.

Good to hear. I'm definitely sold on it. It's a shame the game is being released E3 week; there's going to be zero coverage on it.

And I was just about to plug in my PS3, because of this. Thanks for the headsup. So, where exactly do I have to look for the mp demo (god, the NXE is convoluted)?

Dude, you have no idea. THQ is apparently taking steps to try to get the game some luv before the show, but to be perfectly honest, it's going to be absolutely drowned in coverage of pre-E3 stuff.

You can do that or click the link under where it says you can download the (incorrect) demo on the Red Faction demo/page and it will list all the Red Faction downloadable content. Scroll down and you'll find the right demo. It's smaller than the single player demo.

I wanted to like it, but it just looks so...........bland and uninteresting...No I mean REALLY BLAND! Like dirt mountains and a few buildings.! :/

I forget the names of the maps, but one of them (radial? I think) is a lot more visually appealing.

Warlords is the map with alot of buildings. Radial is the one with the rocks.

After having played BFBC again I have to say that the destruction in RFG feels a bit pointless in comparison. It's fun for the hell of it but leveling buildings doesn't seem to contribute to anything.

You have some more impressions then apart from what people already know from the demos?

Day one. If you haven't downloaded the demo yet (yes I am talking to you lurkers) do so.

Anyone done any comparisons yet of the PS3 version to the 360 graphics wise?
