We're back with another Red Sun Gamer episode! Please welcome our new co-host Elliot on board, who Martin and Steven make insanely jealous with a Tokyo Jungle hands-on. Steve Platinum’s his 1st Sony game, Martin chases a Pig, and Elliot sacrifices his pants. Enjoy!

I'm happy this is back, but a little sad that Kyle isn't on.
New co-host though? I'm excited. I won't get to listen for a few days at least though.

This talk of Tokyo Jungle is making me more and more hyped.

Tokyo Jungle is on totally different planet to anything else I've played in a long time, it's totally refreshing and you'll be sitting there with a massive smile on your face. From hiding in the long grass to brawling in the deserted street of Tokyo as a Pomeranian then attracting a lady friend to get-it-on in an abandoned building, games don't get much more bizarre! LOVE IT!

I'm super hyped! I'm hoping I can get a flying get on Tuesday...can't wait to live stream this puppy! :D

It sounds very echoey to me. Anyone else?

I dunno what the issue is with the echoing, it sounded great on my end when I was recording. I'll check the raw WAV file to see if it's in the original recording before I ran it through Levelator.

Thanks for bring this up, I'll look into it asap.

Just finished listening to #38, great show. Uncanny, but Elliot fits right in ... like he was always on the show. More, please :D

Just finished 38 too. I've been listening since way back when you guys were doing that first person horror game for Wii, don't really post on NeoGAF though.

As for Ni no Kuni, I think the target audience is more "ossan" because the difficulty is not something I can imagine being for kids, despite playing as a 10 year old protagonist. Studio Ghibli also seems like something for the older crowd.

Listened to this show for the first time today. Absolutely love it. Great topics, good chemistry between the guys and really well informed for the most part. Just very fun to listen to in every way.
Can't believe Mark McD was lying to me all this time when he said 8-4 play was the one and only podcast about Japanese video games!

So yeah, I'm a fan now and am already looking forward to the next episode. *subscribes to this thread*

Have to agree. All the RSG guys past and present have been knowledgeable, entertaining and have had a great chemistry with each other. Best podcast out there! :)

RSG is excellent. It's podcast comfort food. I actually revisit episodes when I'm waiting for the new one. It's that good!

Sincere too, no spiel, forced soapbox rants or silly nicknames. Some other podcasts are way too much in love with themselves. RSG and WAHP own Japan, IMHO.

RedSunGamer episode 39 will be recording in a few hours, any questions for the crew?

Yay, I feared I had to wait longer for the next episode.

Since they probably read this thread: (for questions, that is)

Did you guys get further in Kid Icarus? For some reason I'm dying to hear your audible reactions to what happens later in that game lol.

Listened to the segments of the games I'm interested in. Very informative and entertaining.
I can say it's a good show, despite me skipping around. (Thanks for the timestamps!)

I do know that Steven was dead on with the Tokyo Jungle game and the "Wacky Japan Game Design That Works and is Fun" school of games.

Kids, you mean back in the day when Ghouls and Ghosts and Battletoads were played by 40 year olds?

Once you guys get started, you become quite the machine. A weekly podcast that is also usually 3 hours is impressive.

We aim to please...I'm trying to keep the weekly podcast thing a promise, I want the podcast to be more consistent so having the 4 of us onboard makes things easier especially when things pop-up such as moving, funerals etc etc. Thanks for listening we really appreciate it.

Big thanks for listening guys!

As mentioned in our slice of life opening,
here is the snapshot of the two figurines housed at the Tin Toy Museum (Yokohama, Japan) that inspired Toy Story director Lasseter to create Buzz Lightyear. To infinity...

I was kinda expecting the headbutting story to end with "... and then I married the girl", densha otoko style XD

Oyakodon ftw! I'm going to make that dish tomorrow btw, so good.

Great episode. Big ups, RSG crew.

I'm glad this is back on a regular schedule. I need to catch up on the last episode still. I guess I should get to it now.

Missing Kyle is a little sad. But I like Elliot quite a bit.

D'aw, I like you too! <3

As for the 8-4 jab, we only say it out of love. We're all listeners after all. =P
