Reggie- We want to communicate NX better; have continuous software.

It's nice to want things, I guess. If any platform holder could support a single-handedly, it would be Nintendo.

No platform holder can single-handedly support a platform. Enjoy the droughts.
I honestly don't see how a system that's basically Wii U + 3DS combined will have software droughts. Nintendo, indies, and 3rd parties that supported 3DS should likely all be on board. There will be plenty of content.

You are mostly right, but it remains to be seen how the merging of their console and handheld dev studios will affect their output. They should be able to put out a lot more content; the question is how much of that content will be "console quality".

I think it's safe to say that at least Japan publishers will support the system.

Don't forget assuming it's hybrid that any developers coming over that previously only worked on 3DS games may now also have to develop HD assets too. It may be enough to deter some from developing for the platform.

That is unless there will be handheld/docked exclusive games, which kind of goes against the point.

Without 3rd party support its already dead in the water. No way their 1st party can maintain the output without droughts. So hopefully they can get 3rd party support.
Japanese & indie support is all you should expect for the NX. Western publishers have little-to-no reason to believe that Nintendo fans will give a shit about their games. Plus, there's no guarantee that the NX will even be able to be anywhere near the Xbox One in terms of power. Will it be able to run most modern engines, probably. But the question is if it'll run them at a level that's near the competition's base models. And even then, there's still the previously-mentioned issue of Nintendo's typical audience not giving a shit or already having systems that satisfy their needs.

Nintendo better follow up. Right now, they're competing for consumer dollars against other games, costly mid-gen upgrade devices, online service fees, and VR devices. Will gamers save their money for the NX, or will they spend their dollars on these other products? They need to convince customers that the NX is where they should put that money on, because the competition is more fierce now than during any of their previous launches.

I agree with your post, but Nintendo might not be competing with VR devices. The NX could still have VR capabilities, especially with the rumor of the screen, HDMI port, and detachable controllers. All Nintendo would have to do is develop a shell for the screen or partner with one of the VR guys, right?

Then at least announce when you're showing the NX.

This radio silence is just getting ridiculous now.

Yup they are already losing a lot of press by missing all the game shows, even if the NX isnt at them, like Gamescon and PAX and TGS. It would get so much hype and a lot of interviews, but they just wont even announce the thing.

The only thing left is TGS and the Game awards this year

I wonder if Nintendo is getting cold feet about releasing just before an E3 and not having the advantage of the holiday season.

I have a bad feeling were getting bullshitted and this won't release in March.

I know he's PR but it's kind of funny to hear him say this when he thought there was no problems with the Wii U during its launch and its lack of games for the first few months.

Well what was he gonna say, "yeah that shit sucked, please buy one"?

As for this, I think I'm gonna wait and see what actually happens, but at least he's saying the right stuff. The wait is killing me though, I really thought we would have a reveal date at this point.

Is it the right stuff, though, when they've said it over and over again, year after year, without ever actually doing it? That's either a lie or the definition of insanity.

I would think that most of those devs have already used higher-resolution assets that are scaled down to the 3DS . Quite a few Japanese devs also worked on PSVita and Phones, so I don't think that will be an issue. Nintendo was the one with the problems earlier in this generation because they were the ones with very little experience on HD assets and modern shaders.

From what we are hearing, I don't think the powerlevel is really a problem at all, especially compared to the Wii U. I will agree that the audience issue will be the big thing for Nintendo to overcome.

I've been saying this for a while now. Despite what people say, I really think PS4 Neo, PSVR, Scorpio and PS slim/ Xbone S is making them rethink some things.

I still think this thing gets delayed to Holiday 2017. I mean shit, your asking people to buy a new console less then three months after Christmas, especially with a PS 4 slim price cut most likely coming.

I can't wait for the NX....if it is a Home console. I can't give up on the idea of playing Zelda Breath of the Wild at 1080p (if NX is strong enough 60 fps). I know Nintendo will be able to keep the games coming if Super Smash bros 4 is anything to go by. Mario Kart 9 will be on both handheld and Console.

Why would this be a problem? If they don't develop for the 3DS, then what else would they develop for? Everything else is HD pretty much. So, if Capcom wanted to make a new MH game, then all their choices would be HD systems.

Or quality in general.

So announce it already.
They already announced it. And no theh wont unveil it unless everything is in place from the unveil event till it's launch and further.

WiiUs road from the leaks to its launch was a mess, they don't wanna repeat that.

Given recent reports, I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Why must you break my heart!? I don't want to believe!
It's more of ensuring that Nintendo doesn't disappoint you later. Keeping your expectations low is a great way to minimize said disappointment & maximize hype in the event that Nintendo does go above & beyond.

They do. I plan on getting the PS4 Neo and VR. Depending on the NX, it might be at launch or next Fall. Money is money. If I don't like what I see from Nintendo this September, that 250 or whatever the cost of the NX will go towards other gaming items. It's called a gaming budget, smart ass.

Was calling me a smart ass really necessary? Nevermind the fact most people don't even have enough money in their gaming budget for a new PS4 and a VR headset to go along with it. The NX and Neo and PSVR serve completely different audiences.

The said exactly the same since GameCube. Stop talking... start delivering Nintendo!

Well, the Wii and DS were pretty fucking crazy. But yeah after Wii U... I really expect great things. I loved the Wii U library, it houses some of my favorite games out there, but my opinion doesn't count toward success.

How dare you! I love you.....no lying I really need a 1080p version of Breath of the Wild, join me in dreaming?......
  1. I'm flattered
  2. I'm trying to take my own advice on this one. I mean, perhaps we could get BotW at 1080p in Docked Mode, but we don't even know if the dock will boost the NX's performance in any way.

I'm going to call BS on this Dock handheld thing! Unless it has like two screen like the 3DS, I will never Believe in it. Even if it is look at me and telling me to play it. I want a bloody console waaaaa, some one bring me a bottle....

(on topic) I think Nintendo has done a fine Job with there software output on DS,Wii,3DS and as for Wii U, they give up this year ;____;

Isn't Easter the second most popular sales season outside of Christmas? March launch is fine. If they wait until holiday 2017 they'll crash into Scorpio. You can't base all your planning around what the other guys are doing or you'll never do anything

lol
Nintendo's a love hate situation with me.
I'll follow Neoxon's advice and keep my expectations in check. Im really curious to actually see this thing

I'm not worried about keeping my expectations in check. I've been a Nintendo fan since NES days, and Nintendo tends to have a well-defined pattern: When things are going great, they take it for granted and screw up... but when their back is against the wall, they tend to come out swinging. Right now, their back is against the wall, probably more than at any other time since the NES was released. If the pattern holds, we should see great things from Nintendo soon.

I really dont get.the first page posts.
Hw is obvious talking about the mass market marketing, what in the blue hell the fact that they still have to unveil it matters?

Well I'd say with just a little graphical update and maybe minor additions stuff like Luigi Mansion 2, Kid Icarus Uprising, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Fire Emblem Fates, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Rhythm Heaven Megamix etc are all console quality.

Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo 3DS shows this is possible.

"The key to the NX's success is having a steady stream of games people want to play"

I swear that was Nintendo's PR for Wii U. Didn't work out so well
To be honest, soon after that they tried to save face by saying HD development was harder than expected so it took them way longer to finish games.

This time around that's not gonna fly.

They figured out that "Wii U" was a very confusing name so in response, NX official name is going to be "Wiii", to make it clear that it's the second successor of the Wii

Wow.. thats actually kinda true! I guess Ninty got a bit cocky after the Wii did so good and decided to release yet another subpar gaming system with a cheap gimmick.
Hopefully the NX is not as bad as Eurogamer made it out to be but Im still keeping my expectations in check :P Cant risk it

Spoiler: They will over think the communication so much that it will be worse than WiiU :p

No but... Reggie, i think what i don't like about that is that.. If you have to explain you concept, it's already dead...

The concept, or at least it's illustration by software, should speak by itself, and sell by itself, if you go for a strong wii like idea.

Hype is all about high expectations. Have fun while it lasts, I say. If what comes is disappointing, it's the only fun you'll have lol.

Posts like this are weird. The statement was right back then and is still right. Just because they couldn't deliver doesn't mean having a steady stream of software shouldn't be the goal for every new system.

You just can't take the statement seriously when the 3DS and Wii U were both plagued by this exact problem. I don't care how they merged their software and hardware divisions and whether supposedly all games can be played on all future consoles. Nintendo can talk all they want, they have to show and deliver before they regain my trust.
