lmao

This is why we have Trump.
Reinforces the idea that there are only straight couples? Steak and BJ day sounds perfect for not straight couples.
On valentines day my wife gets flowers, a present, Popeyes chicken, and some great head.
A month later she makes a steak, gives me a blow job, and we enjoy both evenings together.

This is life. If you're offended, you're not living right . Nobody is forced to participate in either day.
My guess is that people who are lonely on Valentines day are the ones who are upset about another holiday the can't take part in.

Your guess is wrong and your lack of self-awareness is precisely what throws me off about this "holiday". You blaming people like me for Trump made me laugh more than this attempt at a joke, though, so thank you for that.

You are asking loaded questions again.

To answer your question theoretically: Even philosophers argue if philosophy is a waste of time because of the Regress Argument https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regress_argument

But theory and real life are different, so I'll try to answer it:

As I already said every joke ever is build upon our society and social traits, a joke is just a satirical way to express yourself about the absurdity of life, it's just a bunch of words if you look at it.

You are making and laughing about jokes aswell, so you're probably offending someone somewhere, we just didn't have the chance to experience your sense of humor.

How to we humans overcome this?

I'd argue: Context is king.

If I tell my girlfriend that today is BJ & Steak day in a funny way what do you think the realistic outcome is?

a.) I get BJ & Steak
b.) She laughs about it because it's goofy
c.) She tells me that she feels oppressed because I'm a sexist asshole

Most likely it's a.) or b.)

Are there girlfriends reacting with c.) ? Sure, not everyone is the same.

Am I a bad human in her eyes? Probably not.

Am I a bad human in your yes? Maybe.

So, which opinion is more important?

A Nazi telling jokes about jews and a jewish guy telling jokes about jews is percieved differently, because the intention is clear.

That's one way to get someone to stop speaking to you.

Quiz: We all know that all jokes build upon stereotypes in our human community / society / everyday life. Which stereotype is the above joke built on?

Still don't get the idea that Valentine's Day is strictly a women's holiday. I've viewed V day as basically an excuse to hook up during the winter right before Spring kicks in.

I don't understand your post, please make a clear point and stop asking questions.

Awkwardly wordy and semantic people.

I think I fixed it. It's a lot easier than what you were suggesting.
Both myself and girlfriend see the fun side of this lighthearted day. So she's gonna make me a steak and blow me.

I assume your suggesting that those of us in favour of this day are assholes. And I don't understand that.

OT needs to lighten up a bit.

Yes, that is how jokes work sometimes.

Are you trying to criticize my joke?

Is that what you're doing?
It's no joke, you're trying to argue with me.

Instead of making a clear point you try to prove something with humor/hyperbole, but is essentially a straw man fallacy in the way your presented it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man

It's like this dude with his picture post (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=232042327&postcount=131), you're basically making fun of me linking to Wikipedia articles about logical fallacies.

But there's nothing wrong about this, it's a source which explains the word / type of fallacy, so try harder.

c.) She tells me that she feels oppressed because I'm a sexist asshole

But you desperately want 'a' because you wouldn't be telling her otherwise. Is this your one chance in a year? It sure seems like it.

And 'c'? Well, who gives a fuck if she's offended, she might say 'yes'! it was only a joke after all.
(Haha. Hey, that reminds me of the cat-calling thread from last week actually.)

I assume your suggesting that those of us in favour of this day are assholes. And I don't understand that.

You should browse the thread then. Might help you understand. The post above yours is a start, really.

Lol seriously! It's unreal. Every thread turns into this exact line of discussion. No one thinks this is a serious thing....

Hahaha OMG babe, babe!

You gotta see this come look at this post!

Look here!

It says today is "National Steak and Blowbjob Day."

Hahaha yeah like whaaaaaat? I couldn't believe it either!

That is so crazy I can't believe they said that! What a hilarious and outrageous holiday! LOL they really "went there!"

...

...

you know what would be a really ironic way to celebrate this

if uh

if we did it

yeah like if you mademeasteakandgavemeablowjob

LOL OMG can you believe I said that! I was totally just joking around in the spirit of this lighthearted and totally not serious at all fake holiday! How crazy was that! Wow I am so funny!

noreallypleasepleasepls

Considering I have a gf that willingly does the act, I didn't have to dance around telling her there was a steak and bj day.

Me: "Lol apparently there's a steak and bj day. Like the guy's version of Valentine's day."

Her: "Cool! Let's buy some steaks!"

If anything, it's an excuse to buy steak more often.

It's also White Day and Pie Day. Celebrate whichever made up secular holiday you choose.

I think Steak, pie and white wine would make a nice dinner.

But you desperately want 'a' because you wouldn't be telling her otherwise. Is this your one chance in a year? It sure seems like it.
You are assigning the word "desperately" to this theoretical question.

In reality it can be whatever point on a scale of feelings depending on the situation and person.

Your argument is just a straw man and only works if this particular assumption is real.

And 'c'? Well, who gives a fuck if she's offended, she might say 'yes'! it was only a joke after all.
(Haha. Hey, that reminds me of the cat-calling thread from last week actually.)
Again, your argument only works if your assumptions (which are on the "extreme" end of the scale again) are actually real.

This is an awesome day, but I'm not sure if I will end up paying more for a good steak or an amazing BJ. They are both pretty pricey.

This is why we have Trump.

Jesus Christ.

I don't imagine that there a lot of people celebrating this so I'm not particularly riled up, but when I look at the OP, it reads a hell of a lot like "I gave this woman some chocolates for Valentine's Day so I deserve sex in return". Obviously not the OP's intention because they didn't make this up, but the two look pretty similar.

And there are people who think that like that, and some of them are pretty awful, so I'm a little uncomfortable with it.

I'm honestly confused as to why there's an argument in this thread. Steak and BJ day isn't anymore real than Coffee day, Pancake Day, or any other of the myriad of product/food relates "holidays." Less so, actually, since there's no corporate entity trying to parlay the fake holiday into more product sales.

So why not just acknowledge that, like most things between consenting adults, it's up to their individual discretion and desire instead of arguing for huge swaths of people and completely disregarding that no group of people are a monolithic entity?

Coming into this thread and arguing that this fake holiday that no one needs to even acknowledge, let alone celebrate, is demeaning is like going into any _____ interest thread and telling people they're wrong for liking what they like. What's the point other than stirring up shit?

I just broke up with my (now-ex) girl on Saturday. Looks like I'm not celebrating this holiday. It also feels pretty fucked up premise wise.

Oh well. Enjoy your sexist holiday everyone!

You wanna know how I know OP is single as hell.

He thinks Valentine's Day is for women.

lol. My Denby dinnerware plate should have been a dead giveaway that I was married. Nah man, I'm a single man with $1,000 dinnerware. Let me see your Dixie dinnerware.

Never been into steak but I love BJs. I'll just eat some fruit and smang ya mouth instead while all those steak dudes get clogged arteries.

You don't need a GF to get either of those things though!

God damn man. Thanks for the laugh at least.

Not even gonna bother after that first sentence alone. Lost cause.

I guess people really can be offended by anything.

It's not 'steak and stick your cock in an unwilling mouth day'.
It's pretty much OK to have fun and celebrate a silly holiday by cooking a steak and sucking the hell out of your partner's shafty member.

As long as the steak isn't cooked past medium rare, that is.
