Naw it's actually quite good, you just need to slice in thinly and don't overcook it. I wouldn't say eat a steak of it or anything, but I had some in Japan a year or two ago served with some pureed yam and it was fantastic.

I don't care that they were eaten. I care the fact that firefighters risked their lives to save them from the fire in the first place. It would be like a house burning down, and you tell your rescuers to go save the cookies you were baking in the oven; then you give the cookies to them as a thank-you. It's dumb as hell.

I doubt they were told to go in and rescue some pigs from a fire. They were probably just putting the fire out and the pigs happened to be in there.

Well, the pigs weren't saved as a secondary consequence of firefighting - they were saved because, in theory, we don't like it when piglets die. Like, the news story "Firefighters save pigs!" doesn't get attention because we're glad the livelihood of the farmer was protected, y'know?

Dog is pretty awful in my experience. Very lean, sort of like low quality chicken. I'm sure if they were bred for meat it'd be significantly better.

I had an initial reaction of disgust because they way it was portrayed, the farmer killed teeny piglets for kicks in order to repay the firefighters.

Apparently, pigs reach sexual maturity at around 6 months, and they're generally slaughtered at about the age of 4 months to a year.

So this is a fucking non-story.
