Reserve Left 4 Dead at *GameStop* and get early access to demo.

Fuck you for not including an exclamation point. :|

totally lame...they better have a PC demo for Steam pre-purchasers
\

But yeah, it's basically: pre-order a game so you can play the demo to see if you want to buy the game! O WAIT!

:\
11/06?
I was really hoping the demo would release on Halloween.

I would have to guess steam preloaders would get the same deal.. right?
But either way, I have to play the demo before I buy.. not sure what version to get.

Says the same on the Xbox 360 page.

Reserve Left for Dead and receive early access to the demo. The early access will start on 11/6/08 and will end on 11/11/08. Offer valid only while supplies last.

X360 demo 11th confirmed?
Might be a typo though.

What the fuck valve?

What is this dagger in my back... oh, it is your betrayal manifest.

Shame on you. Shame on you.

(I reserve the right to backpedal on this one when it turns out steam users are in early too).

since when does GameStop give a shit about PC sales?

Oh, and I am now pleased that I didn't buy it from Steam yet!

Hell yes. So I guess it's safe to assume that once you install the game and register it within Steam, it becomes a Steam game that can be downloaded whenever, right? Kinda like the Orange Box I hope...

I'm going to be very surprised if steam doesn't get the same deal. If not... they're going to get quite a backlash.

Would I be able to switch it after I get the demo? I need to see how well my computer handles the game so this would be a good way to do that. I could preorder the PC version, try out the demo and decide if I need to switch it to the 360 version. I hope this is the case.

I was able to snag the $36.99 pre-order price at Amazon.com (since raised in price) so I'm sticking with it. I'm pretty sure that Valve will just have you register with Steam and then you can re-download/re-install at will through Steam from then on (just like The Orange Box, etc.).

So if you preorder the game you'll get a demo in order to know if you like it and if it's worth pre-ordering ?

"So if you preorder the game you'll get a demo in order to know if you like it and if t's worth pre-ordering ?"

There is a word before access in the thread title that you should look up on Dictionary.com.

This is kind of backwards. You can play a demo of a game earlier if you make a commitment to buy it? Shouldn't they make the demo readily available to everyone which is... the point of demos?

I don't think the guys at Valve/Gamestop have understood what's the point of a demo, early or no.

why would it be different? Valve has been doing this for years. Thats exactly what your going to do. They lock you into Steam for a reason.
so they can make you look at deals too good to pass whenever they feel like it

Yeah I have all the confidence in the World that it'll add to my account. I'm anti-physical product in general...but with the cost difference AND that I get to have it in my Steam account forever...buy buy buy. I will sometimes pay MORE to get digital distribution versions on Steam. Just less waste (except my cash).

I doubt this applies to the PC version.

It's probably mentioned on the PC page as a write-over from the 360 page for the game, a mistake on Gamestops part.

Valve wouldn't cannibalize Steam sales like this, I'm sure.

this recent trend of giving stuff out with preorders is getting annoying. I usually buy my games from gamefly since i get them for like $42 new.

I wouldn't at all be surprised to see the demo on Steam around the same time as this 360 "early access".

Remember when sensitive PC gamers everywhere got all hot and bothered, and console fanboys everywhere were proclaiming "PC GAMING IS DEAD VALVE THINKS CONSOLES FIRST" when Potal: Still Alive was announced exclusive to 360?

....only to then find out that Still Alive was nothing more than a bonus pack of maps already available for free on PC months ahead of time?

Yeah...I'm expecting this demo to be out on PC within the next few weeks.

Or you can pre-order on Amazon for $40. Simply the best indeed! :D

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000PS4X7S/?tag=neogaf0e-20

You get an additional pre-order discount when the product hits the final order confirmation stage.

I can't imagine Valve ever handing off an exclusive like this to Gamestop and not doing it on Steam. They probably just gave Gamestop permission to announce it first or something.

Think hard. The EARLY demo is for pre-orders. Anybody will be able to play the NON-EARLY demo.

Do you have your receipt? If so fill out this form.
