You're bang on the money with this post. High-end hotels would only be paid for extended stays, plus the staff would be suspect as fuck with people coming and going as she'd need to meet them at the desk/get past staff.

Gotta be a dodgy one if she's doing that.

Might be some places are different but the last few times I've been in London I needed a keycard to get beyond the reception area.
At least two of the hotels I stayed at recently there even needed a key card to operate the elevator.

I ain't exactly staying in expensive places myself, mind you.

Just seems weird that this broad would be coming down to pick up these guys and bring them up to her room.

Possible though that he is referring to short-stay apartments as "hotels".

I dunno. I haven't been visiting escorts in London so I can't say anything for sure.
Just doesn't sit right with me.

All we are is our terrible online personas. We sure as hell don't owe anybody the effort of 'getting to know the real them' if they come across like a tool on the forum.

Sure, but it wouldn't hurt if those people at least tried to help us understanding them a little better.

If they decide to just be their awful self online though, I'm with you : fuck them.

It's a little sad because Hecht isn't a bad person irl, he just seems highly disappointed at life and borderline depressive. I'd be interested in a discussion with him, because I remember him as a respectful person and surprisingly open to discussion.

Something probably went south in his life. Maybe it's all that time spent on Resetera ? The forum isn't good for one health. Let's not even talk about moderating it.

Morrigan is like that too. I've heard from different people that she's quite decent IRL and a benevolent person, despite her internet persona.

It's a controversial opinion, but I think people would get a better impression of Morrigan and Hecht if they stepped out of their confort zone and actually talked in a podcast or something similar about what their views are and where they do come from.

Maybe I'm just naive, but I'll give one example.

I hated @LordKano as a Reseteta poster. Then, I learned more about him outside of the forum, spent sometimes talking with him and I understood he wasn't that awful poster he painted himself as, it was just an (awful) internet persona, not really representative of who he really is : a polite, social and well-adjusted guy overall. I still think he shat the bed threatening me, but talking with him helped me understanding him more. It speaks a lot about people's behavior online. I still find his internet persona awful though, especially when you read his intervention with his belgium accent, which cracks me up every single time.

Again, maybe I'm a bit naive, but I think Hecht and Morrigan would gain some sympathy points by actually speaking in front of a camera about themselves a little. That would probably help them to differenriate themselves from their awful internet persona too.
open to discussion..

I think you got hoodwinked

you can’t expect someone to sit down and listen to their story if their not willing to listen to someone else

What your describing is someone being two faced. They'll be nice to you in person becuse they will be held accountable for what they say but talk shit about you when you are not there. Perfectly sums up the people at Resetera.

He fucked up by threatening to sue me for speaking up and refusing to adress his friend's problems on that infamous discord, but he isn't a pedo.

He didn't?

"LordKano : I'll warn you to not going on with your bullshit before someone who cares (not me) seriously sues you for public slander. Now, be gone and avoid involving in those bullshits that have nothing to do with me. "

I've posted here before about Cow Mengde, he's a bitter guy that thinks he can't get a girlfriend just becuse he's an Asian in America. Check out how many negative dating topics he's made that are just for his confirmation bias.

Here's the thing, he spent some time working in China and STILL could not get laid where his asianess was no longer part of the equation but being American was a plus. He moved the goalposts and claimed those Chinese girls in China that were in his friend group only wanted to fuck white guys.

No Cow, it's not them apps or modern dating it really IS that you are unfuckable.

I'll take this occasion to say something. I'm not fishing for attention or anything, so if you're not interested in all of that, feel free to ignore this post. I always believed when you do something bad publicly, you should always excuse yourself publicly. That's why I'm posting that here.

I'm not a bad person, never have been, but sometime, you take the wrong way and do stuff that hurt people.

I did and I feel bad about it. When I exposed the people on that discord, I did hurt some of them and I know from some sources that many felt bad, spent some days in dark because of it.

Sure, the thread I created is now at 300k views, I received support from many people here and outside, it tainted Resetera's reputation still to this day... but I don't understand how some people over Resetera or internet in general can be unhinged, hateful, engage in disgusting behavior towards others and not feel bad about it. That's certainly not my case, I can't hurt people in any ways and not feel bad about it afterwards. Call me dumb or naive, but that's who am I.

For example, Eolz Eolz was banned from Resetera and I heard it took a toll on him. Sure, he acted very stupidly and did himself, but still, the guy spent his life on Resetera and all of a sudden, he was banned from the community he loved. I never liked him that much, but I still feel for him.

It's all virtual... up until real feelings are involved. It must have been shitty for him, it must have been shitty for Kano and the others too.

Let's be really clear here : the people on that discord can be very hurtful and hateful. I've grown to despise them, especially when I realized that the moderation from Resetera was covering their asses. I hate injustice, I can't help it and their overall behavior threw me off the wall. I was also in a bad spot IRL (my SO was sick, I was mad at life), which is the reason I suscribed to Resetera in the first place (go figure).

I'm doing better now and I took some steps back. None of this is like me at all.

Despite the narrative Resetera's staff tried to build, I never framed stuff out of context, I didn't lie about what I exposed from that discord... but I do regret hurting those people in the process. I should have been more mature in the way I worded stuff, I shouldn't have acted like I was on a personal crusade against them. I should have raised awareness on the problem more peacefully and maybe try to speak about it with them before going public about it... stuff like that. Just like I said, I should have been more mature about the problem instead of acting on rage, which nobody should ever do, even when one think it's justified.

So to make a long story short, if those people from that discord ever read that message : I present you my excuses if I ever hurt you in any way and I also present my excuse for not speaking about it with you all first. I did scheme against you, I was dishonest with my motives and I probably did hurt you way worse than I intended. That's not who I am. I was also a culprit of building an internet persona that doesn't look like me.

I'm a lucky person IRL and while I can't put myself in your shoes, I understand why you engage in some behaviors sometimes. Some of you have it hard in life, it was my role to act better and be the adult in the room, instead of going full rage on you all. It was bad, it was stupid and I deeply regret hurting you. I know it will be hard to forgive, but despite all our problems, I'll be glad if you consider it a little. Hate is never the way.

I still think Resetera is a highly toxic place and a shitty webforum, and I still don't like Excelsiefshit though.

I would agree that it normally wouldn't be fair to judge someone only by their internet persona, on the other hand these are all too often the same people that by their internet personas, nowadays, are collectively able to influence political discurses, products, movies, careers, and generally other people lives (including streamers, programmers, software houses, randoms reading their ramblings, etc.).

I don't care if they are IRL saints or whatever.

EDIT: I'm obviously talking in general, I'm not referring to any of the particular people you mentioned. I just find it impossible to dissociate an internet persona from their IRL counterpart when the shit they're saying online could possibly affect other people IRL.

I’m not sure really what you’re trying to portray here. These aren’t people who are remorseful about their actions and most of your post is making up things we don’t know about them in an effort to garner pity for them.

Resetera, where your race is who you are. Funny it's always these white dudes commenting on race.

That entire reply is just 101% pathetic though. "PEOPLE DONT CARE WHAT YOU DO IF YOU HOT" Really? Fuck me. Why do these dudes have to prove all the time they never left their house before? How does this guy even factor in attractiveness here? What the fuck.

You'd think someone who posts on a "female-friendly" site such as ResetEra would be a goddamn pick up artist when it comes to knowing what the ladies want. Apparently not. :)

"That 'shut the fuck up' and vote how I say because abortion" thread from Excel is back.

How is that thread still there? A Canadian person telling black Americans to STFU and vote how she says. Just fuck off.

Imagine anyone else making a thread that started with the opening gambit 'shut the fuck up'.

This post is basically the whole thread (although there are exceptions).

The original Instagram post

Of course they need to make it all about race.
At the end of the day anyone with a shred of social awareness knows that a grown man taking photos of kids playing at the park is probably going to raise an eyebrow. All this dude has to do is say "sorry, I am just practicing my photography" offer to delete the photos and then move on.

I don't really agree with the woman sharing this on social media either though.
The dude isn't doing anything drastically wrong here and a private word is all that's really needed.
Getting a camera out right away and filming him is not necessary.

This is what happens when an entire community protects, and enables, an obviously vulnerable and messed up individual.

First of all the thread is needlessly aggressive and secondly there is a complete unwillingness to reflect on that.
In fact, anyone who points out the obvious fact that this is a terrible way to approach people gets a snarky comment.

"I'm just telling you to be a fucking adult."

This person is an arsehole. Plain and simple.

If a politician wants my vote they can earn it. Full stop.
If anyone thinks berating me is going to get my vote then I'm afraid that's not likely to work. Likely to have the opposite effect tbh.

It's immature and delusional to think that the best way to get people to vote the way you want is to berate them and then act like a whiny brat when they point out how shitty your approach is.

Over 43,000 posts. Wow. You'd think someone would step in there and have a word in private.

They have previously (more than once) flat-out said that they love to argue and is continually antagonistic towards other users, resulting in bans.

They get a kick out of behaving like an asshole for attention, I think most users just ignore them now.

Must eat them up inside that people don't care what they have to say.

ERA suicidal thoughts support group.

I don't think that ERA is a suitable place to help people who are thinking of commiting suicide.
not suitable obviously they should reach professional help, however it is an outlet at a time when maybe they cant get the support they need.

Wonder what percentage of Era is foreigners screaming at American voters? When Russia does it it’s so evil! Canada, China, Chile, anywhere else, just go ahead and intimidate all the American voters you want.

Unfortunately, they are just being held to the standards that they hold others to, and said they exuded. The whole thing happened because they were better than everyone else and needed their own domain to be better than everyone else together. That's why they are held to higher scrutiny from all these sites and that twitter bot. The contradictions are hilarious. The freakouts are wild. Every week is another:

source.gif

There is collateral damage but when the whole mantra of the site runs on shitposts - like that one capped earlier - which runs along the lines of 'implicit guilt by non action', then you can't complain. Also, their very search for notoriety and authority is paradoxical to wanting that contained within a gated community. These moderators and protected, torn stoma bags of society want to be infamous for their broad 'knowledge' and assertive opinions that are beyond contestation by the common 'filth' because of a power imbalance. Yet because the forum is public and the above level of scrutiny, they constantly shit the bed with the hottest of takes, or reduce the argument down to a base level that lacks any of the complexities of the real world decision making and compromise that is needed (Example: Unionisation, would be interesting to see the takes when these unions protect the inept)

HLD6XuI.png

Oh, wait is that another contradiction?!?!

Maybe black people are just tired of always taking second/third/800th position in all the hypotheticals AND the realities.

Maybe you don't hate us, but you certainly value us less.
If it makes you feel better, I value people less in general. My top priorities are environment and endangered species (neither of which I think Bloomberg cares about).
Wow good opinion from the anti human vote

Gonna go out on a limb here and say that most American voters value people more than endangered species

On creepy playground stuff: I, as a white guy, half expected to get stares or reported just yesterday because I took my 18 month old to the park by myself since my wife was working late. And I was there with my own kid! Not that I should have expected anything but we’re just in a weird world now where everyone suspects everyone (spoiler: nobody cared, just like every other time I have our kid by myself).

Now if I were there taking pictures without our kid, I’d absolutely expect someone to say something. Even if I had our kid, if I were taking pictures of other people’s, I’d expect someone to say something. Creepy behavior is creepy.

Well, when the progressive ideology refuses to explain The Rules of Scoring on the privilege hierarchy, there is no choice but to puzzle it out, especially when the penalties are so aggressive and potentially career-ruining.

damn they got so triggered by that pyramid. just lots of ironic rape jokes and stuff to dunk on conservatives

I think the real reason they are triggered so hard is they want to say these fucked up things all the time, a convenient conservative straw man gives them a free pass to say whatever sick rape jokes they have been holding back so long as they end it with “this is what the bad people think”.
