Just want to say... that these matchups are so nonsensical that it basically makes the ultimate result of all this... rigged. Not just this matchup necessarily, but the whole damn thing.
 
I've gotten nothing done all weekend because I keep refreshing this thread. I need GAF to come through and put Nier on top.

All this thread has taught me is that GAF is full of weebs, they have scared off the rest of gamers and they are all that are still here. Gotta keep that hope that they didn't see the title and say lol RE2 got this, don't even need to click.

Played it, platinumed it, it's a solid 8/10 at best. It's not even the best Nier game let alone GOAT of the generation. The bar is set so low these days for RPGs I swear

Well wanna be RPG IDK, I figured calling it a meh hack and slash would get people panties in a wad so I went RPG. I mean we could call a spade a spade and just say it's a female ass inspection game.

Thats just pointless argument, I personally think Witcher 3 is trash RPG but other people consider it GOAT, people have different taste just because their taste is not same as you doesn't make them having low standard.
 
Automata it's a character action game with lots of rpg elements, just like astral chain, at most you could call them action RPGs...but in these days, there are very little true RPGs but almost every game has some RPG elements in it.

This is amazingly close. I know a lot of people say it's a weird match-up but I think these polls are most exciting when it's highly divisive like this one. I do agree that perhaps the starting brackets should have been grouped so games that are similar would face-off at the start, but we'd probably still end up with strange match-ups further down the brackets.

I voted for Nier Automata on this one. Still playing through it and loving it so far, story and gameplay (although I spoiled myself watching a Lets Play way back when I didn't think I'd ever get to play it myself). Barely played any Resident Evil games myself but I'm keenly aware of their place and legacy. RE2 Remake looks amazing to me and will probably be my jumping on point when the opportunity arises.
 
Hard choice, i reletively enjoyed both.

I think nier gets the vote because even if re2 remake is pretty good, in my opinion does't even lick the brain matter from the original game's boots.

either way, i think that says something cool about GAF, which is that it's not just a popularity contest. on gamefaqs, people who never heard of nier would just vote resident evil.

guess i will have to play nier one day.

but i'm shocked at how close it is to re2, as i know even on GAF there are at least some people who just vote for the more well known names

Since RE2 Remake relies you knowing the origininal game to surprise you, I'm going with Nier:Automata.

That said though: Thius comparison makes no sense.

It's like asking you to chose between you daughter or your son.
While they are performing different tricks.

That's stupid. The game can is perfectly fine without nostalgia or re2 knowledge.
The comparison does not have to make any sense. We are comparing games released this gen. Not games within genres. Only 1 game can be the best of ALL games released whole generation
