Resident Evil 6 - Comic-Con Demo Footage

Thanks to Biohaze.com for collecting the Comic-con stuff together:

All-new demo's being played on the PS3. I've only seen the Leon one so far but I saw some changes from the 360 demo released via Dragon's Dogma:

* No screen-tearing
* Enemies react a lot more to gun shots, especially the zombies

That actually looks like it's running pretty well, well better than I expected anyway, will need more footage with more enemies on screen.

Watched the rest of the footage and even Chris's action-heavy warzone demo displayed no signs of screen-tearing. Performance looks perfectly fine too.

The Chrysalis transformation is also shown for the first time in these videos. Some enemies appear to "die" before being consumed by a cocoon. Then they transform in to more dangerous enemies, the particular one in Jake's demo looks like a little mutated dinosaur. :lol

With all of this happening in-game, combat will definitely be a lot more fast-paced and enjoyable.

For a good TPS, this game is too slow and clunky.

For a good horror game, this game is too action-packed.

I respect every opinion, but what the fuck does this game want to be? This has no identity, no soul, nothing. Just look at those two videos from the Chris campaign.

Can't watch anymore of this, just no man

has Jake's HUD been reworked, or am I crazy?

Kind of digging the ammo scarcity.

PS3 Capcom game = no tearing, but many dropped frames

Didn't they originally (long ago) state something like "Three different storylines, three different focusses for gameplay" ?

Only Leon's campaign displays a different pace to the others with more of a new-gen RE2 feel to things (university environment reminds me of the RPD, the streets = Raccoon City, etc.).

Jake might be more of a melee-focused character but his campaign is pretty much the same action/gameplay-wise to Chris's from what I've seen so far. Plus they use the same sort of enemies. No doubt Leon will fight the J'avo later on in the game though, bringing it line with the other two campaigns.

the enemies death into cocoons in Jake's video is new?

Been shown in trailers for the game but this is the first time they've appeared in gameplay demo's shown/playable to the public, AFAIK. Some C-Virus application I believe. I'd imagine transformations will differ too, meaning you won't really know what to expect should the transformation occur. The diversity in battles depending who transforms, what they transform in to, etc. on top of enemies transforming their body parts will be an exciting dynamic.

Camera is still too close to the main character. Guess that all but confirms it won't be changing. :(

According to the files ripped from the 360 demo, the camera is customisable in the full game via game options. There are many options not accessible in the demo. What you see in the footage is what the default camera is, I guess.

these aren't confirmed in-game options. It is possible, likely even, that these are debug options, or even options that the game never surfaces and automatically scrolls between, as evidenced in the demo.

Well that's usually the case with PS3 MT Framework games but this new demo run just fine and definitely much better than RE5 PS3...maybe they dropped hard v-sync and went the 360 route? there is minor tearing in the second video of the chris demo when he hits an enemy inside the house.

Also isn't the character placement when you're aiming better? it looks to me like the characters take less space of the screen.

Either way it's nice to see that this new demo looks a lot more polished. :)

That would be a major bummer if true. I wonder if Capcom will be having a Q&A similar to what they did at E3 during live streams. Some clarification on this would be great.

Tearing and enemy reactions are the least of this game's problems.

I'd say they're probably the two biggest problems? If not the two biggest, then certainly part of the "primary problem" column.

People who honestly thought they wouldn't fix the tearing should've known better. Like seriously.

It really annoys me how much the damage might've done to the public's perception of Resident Evil 6. These videos show a clear improvement and I am worried so many people have already written the game off.

Awww, don't you worry your pretty little head. Resident of Duty: Call of Evil 6 will still sell ganbusters. Just look how well RE:ORC sold.

So...about this "zombie", "survival", "horror" thing ?

Not dudebro enough.

What? This is ps3 version, not 360. They never fixed the tearing in dragons dogma on 360. Ps3 version had lower framerate but no tearing in DD. Dont be surprised if its the same in RE6.

It really doesn't help when you public demo is terrible. Capcom should not have put the demo out in that state. They can say "not representing the final product" all they want, but people will jump to conclusions no matter what.

They should have waited until they had something that was better, and thats ruining how people see the game.

This is what I'm thinking and it's borne out somewhat by the footage of the camera is a slightly different position in some footage but right back next to the main character in other footage.

I hate situational sensitive camera angles, they never work as intended. :(

Wow, a capcom game which finally seems run decently on the ps3? I'm surprised. By the way, I continue to be regret about the gameplay mechanics. Smell too much of Gears of war for my taste.

what was wrong with sf4, dmc4 and re5?

Play to re5 on ps3 than on 360 or viceversa. ps3 it's 25 fps for the most of time & suffer of notable lag compared to microsoft console. sf4 not use mt framework, dmc 4 was the only game of capcom which don't suffer on ps3 platform, but probably because the development was started how exclusive of sony console

I agree with all of this.

RE5 on PS3 was fine. The framerate had a few small hiccups, but the V-Sync was a worthy tradeoff. I own it on both 360 and PS3, and to be honest, the 360's screen tear is a much more noticable problem.

People acting like it's some sort of technical mess are dumb. MT Framework is a fantastic engine, regardless of platform.

The biggest issue with RE5 on PS3 were some downgraded assets and textures compared to the 360.

The frame rate was consistent enough.

You can get virtually no tearing during gameplay in RE5 on 360. If you've still got it on 360, try it with the 360 set to output 720p. There's a synchronisation bug in older MT framework games.

The framerate is smoother for that one on 360. Where it's 30fps there's no tearing at all, and it's nearly always 30fps, outside of cinematics.

After getting the hang of the demo, then seeing Mercs screenshots and now seeing these videos – yeah, I think I’m back on board with this game...

Also, in the second Jake video at the 1:40 – 1:55 mark, that was a really badass moment! Someone should make a gif of it. I’d really appreciate it.

Interested to find out how the framerate holds up. The PS3 leon demo from a few weeks ago looked terrible.

Capcom just needs to spill it on the PC release date.

Footage looks good.

Also, the ERSB rating has been released, and apparently Resident Evil 6 has nudity in it. A bit surprising.

http://www.gamepur.com/news/8529-esrb-confirms-nudity-resident-evil-6.html

Most likely the zombies as we do visit a graveyard in the game (in Leon's campaign) that features zombies crawling out of the ground. Maybe other creatures throughout the game might display nudity if they're human-based.

I doubt we'll get to see the lovely Ada or Helena butt nekkid though. ;(

Really hope the PS3 can keep up a solid frame rate. 360s screen tearing is awful but MT sacrifices VSync for performance on the console.

But performance issues were the least of my issues.

I'm thinking it's a monster related thing as well. Funnily enough I noticed in the new death animation for J'Avos in the demo their pants dissolve before they do, but there's nothing there since essentially all the flesh under their clothes is torn flesh so they're essentially skinless.
