Resident Evil 6 DEMO VER. Thread: Capcom's final chance for redemption

But they shouldn't put all of that in the files separate from main game and the player has to unlock that to read it. While most of them are just the fulfillment of the story, some of them are very important and tell us so many things we never know before. I almost completely ignore that just because I don't think they will put anything important to the story in separate place. I just have the feeling that all the plot has been written. But majority of them has been removed because the director didn't know how to present that in the game. It's the problem when they introduce the name of Alex Wesker and most of the player didn't know who the heck he is.

RE has the very interesting story and setting if it's done well. Too bad so many ideas from the past game have never been used. And it's very confusing when they keep changing the team who's taking care of the game. Tri-Cell was fully introduced as the new main villain in the series with all the background and story. But now RE7 completely ignore that and goes back to (neo) umbrella.

Maybe it's time to really end this story and restart everything ...

Are you from the future? D=

Yeah it was kinda weird how they added Tri-cell and now it's not really important. And they had Wil-pharma or w/e in Resident Evil: Regeneration. Making all kinds of companies. lol

I just finished my RE2 Claire A playthrough. Took me a total of 5 hours and I got a B ranking. Wondering if I should bother doing Leon B or just watching it on YouTube and moving onto RE3 instead. It's pretty much the same areas/puzzles, right? Or are they so significantly different that it warrants a second playthrough of the game?

Edit: Also I'm wondering if it's worth getting the HD version of CV:X off the PSN, or just playing the old PS2 version. Any differences between the two other than the graphics?

Double edit: Holy shit, CV:X on PSN is TWENTY DOLLARS??! WTF. I was hoping to get it for $10.

I'd just move onto RE3.
There are some differences but nothing major for when you are playing all of the older games.

They know none of them will ever replace umbrella.
Also Tricell was a joke, so pointless.
They could have taken it out and basically had the same story.

Yea or whatever they did with Revelations which was supposed to hint towards RE6 but so far it doesn't look that way. However they've had multiple situations like that. I believe CVs plot was already written before 3's. Not too mention RE4 was originally supposed to be a showdown between leon and spencer. Or RE4 leading up to a Wesker vs. Ada showdown but nothing happened. In fact ada still remains a complete mystery. There are tons of other examples where the RE plot is a mess.

I think after RE6 they should stop and, before they go any further, find a way to make everything consistent. Get the story straight. Remake all the games and have them ready for next gen. Think they'll do that? =D

=(

You think it's worth $20? I've never played it before so my options are buying the HD release for $20 or getting a used PS2 version for like $6 off eBay.

I'm not the right person to be asking if anything Resident Evil related is "worth it" =P

I really enjoyed it though, I appreciated it a bit more since I played the PS2 version immediately before so you could see the changes and such.

Though it really is just an aesthetic / cosmetic thing, nothing gameplay wise has changed.

Hmm I just watched a comparison video and the HD version does have significantly better lighting. The textures still kinda suck, but the lighting goes a long way towards changing the look and feel of the game. I'm seriously considering the HD version now.

I had PS+ when they launched so I was able to get them for like $9.99 each. Immediately paid for $20 of the $50 PS+ costs. Whoever says it's not worth it just isn't using it right. =P

But yeah It looks cleaner. RE4 HD looks clean but at the same time it looks like it lost some of the fogginess. Still nice, though. Just wish we got a physical release like Japan.

Well I have been trying to stay spoiler free, but if Tricell is really not even mentioned or anything that would be really lame. Though perhaps Capcom wants to forget RE5 happened. Not like Sheva is going to make any more appearances haha.

Given how well RE5 sold and still rated pretty well I tend to doubt they are really all that worried about RE5 or want to forget it.

That said Tricell seems to have already had it's story played out and I don't really expect Chris or the BSAA agents to have any need to mention it other then maybe saying who a new huge donator to their group is.

Honestly RE0 was the last good RE game. RE4 ruined the franchise.

Actually it saved it. Remake is the only original game worth replaying(the others are badly outdated). Redo all the others and then we'll talk. Resident Evil 4 is/was a revelation to gaming

I know. Sadly, many people ignore files and library. :(
But as I said, I can understand why all that info wasn't presented in the game.

That I can agree with. Ever since RE3 Capcom constantly teases something and then forgets about it. After RE3 we had the "new organization" that Wesker was working for, the "S" organization, Tri-cell (rumors say that "S" = "Seashell" which the turned into Tri-cell somewhere during the development of RE5; however, in Ada's Report she is stating that she's betraying Wesker and is really working for the "S" organization; however, in RE5 Wesker is also working with Tri-cell, so wtf?), Will-pharma and whatever it was in Revelations (haven't played the game yet).

And now RE6, instead of reusing any of these organizations, introduces a new one, Neo-Umbrella. :/

Wow at someone saying RE4 ruined the franchise. Like, even if you don't like the game, RE4 actually saved the franchise since Capcom was not happy with the sales of REmake and RE0. And no, they did not sell very much compared to the rest of the franchise.

I have to disagree about the other's being outdated.
They're more than easily play able even now, especially RE3.
With it's Easy Mode and dodge function (Something that still bothers me in CVX since it didn't have it)

One of the worse things about being a Big RE fan.
Since even if you're reading the files and everything else you can get your hands on there's a lot of stuff that they just upped and never closed. RE really needs a MGS4 type game that can come in and end the series and all the loose plot details.
Then after that either reboot or perhaps just start a new series within it.

Agreed, I really don't understand why they didn't.
It would have sold just fine.

That is true.
While the argument is more geared towards the way the game plays.
With it's much more actiony approach. It'd be interesting to see where the RE franchise would be at now if RE4 had been a much different game.

It ruined the franchise in the sense that the series completely changed its gameplay priorities, moving far into action genre. If someone preferred the original slow gameplay, full of exploration, item fetching, puzzles etc., RE4 did ruin the franchise.

I believe CVs plot was already written before 3's.

If my memory is right. CV was supposed to be RE3 but Capcom switch that to CV due to the changed platform. And at that point they were not sure about Dreamcast future (yet). CV seems to be started long before RE3 like you said.

I just think they are outdated graphically... they make my eyes bleed. The only full 3D game on Playstation that doesn't make my eyes bleed is Metal Gear Solid and maybe RE2. They are in definite need of Remakes. I agree they play just fine. Just do not expect to enjoy looking at it.

The latest games have just been more action oriented...but the gameplay have been made simpler and more enjoyable/less strict movement.
It takes an adherence to the atmosphere of the old games in order to create that type of a game. Lost in Nightmares proved that it can be done and we can have the best of both worlds. (I would argue that Revelations even proved it to an extent).

Anyone else extremely disappointed with 6's controls?

Not after replaying the demo a bunch. At first I was on the 360 demo at my friend's, but the PS3 demo...I don't know if it was updated at all or it just feels that much better on PS3. I've grown to like them and am very used to them now. running towards an enemy that's firing at you and sliding on the ground while fire'n away at him is pretty cool.

Good, now what about that camera....

Why would we even bring this up AGAIN.

Not you, just some OTHERS

sliding past an enemy then doing a 180 while still in movement on the ground is the coolest.
the controls are flawless.

I still need to buy CV on xbl but for what I remember, the ps2 version has some extras the DC version did not, but the DV version is a better picture visually or something, especially if you play with a vga box. I found the cube version of CV was fine and had the extras in it too.

To be fair, I want to know just how much they have buggered it up?

How much worse does the new camera for the appeasement of stupid internet pundits make the game?

:-)

Well technically the Demo Files listed a "Camera Option"
So technically all the camera views we have seen should be availble.
Everyone Wins.
