Resident Evil 6 DEMO VER. Thread: Capcom's final chance for redemption

Chris has only ever looked good in the remake and the BH5 announcement trailer. Since then he got comically huge and they re-did his entire face to the point where he doesn't resemble any past appearances.

His 6 model is the same as the one in 5, just slightly older with a new uniform and new haircut.

I think they trimmed down his GUNS though... no longer a boulder puncher.

His 6 model is too pudgy looking and he has no neck.

Remake Chris looked incredibly bland and not nearly athletic enough. He looked much better in his original RE form and his RE2 model.

RE5 Chris is a much better extension of his RE1 self than any of the other ones post 2. Considering the change in technology and his being older it looks pretty close. Him being really buff makes perfect sense and he really didn't look as roided out as people make him out to be. The boulder thing was silly but RE5 was pretty silly to begin with.

Remake Chris was also missing any real personality which didn't help his case much either.

Chris has no personality.

Seriously though, if I lived in his world and had to fight all those things, I'd be bulked up on steroids too.

I feel like there's a weird stutter in Leon's walking animation.

Anyone do a new demo graphics comparison?

I couldn't do the slide standing still, he always does the ducking move.

So I was slightly wrong describing the input... you have to press forward when you tap L1+action button, otherwise the player will duck.

Sorry if I caused confusion. If you are moving forward or standing and just quickly press forward, and L1 + action, the player will do quick slide 100% of the time.

RE5 Chris is the best Chris IMO, hands down. And I'm so happy it has become his go-to look for any further non-canon appearances.

It gave him an iconic look (his S.T.A.R.S. outfit is alright but is nowhere near as memorable as Jill's) and he finally got some sex appeal. I really don't understand why some people thought he looked too muscular, if you asked me, the other characters aren't muscular enough. If you spend your entire life in these extremely physical and harrowing situations, you better damn well be able to punch a freaking boulder into submission.

Chris has no personality.
Not being a smarmy douche doesn't mean someone doesn't have a personality. I think his loyalty and dedication are very apparent. He reminds me a lot of Ryu from Street Fighter in that way.

I liked roidmonster Chris as well. He looked awesome. The new toned down version isn't as interesting. Toned down versions never are.

Does anyone think the changes they made to the camera between the DD demo and the public demo actually made the game better?

Think best looking Chris was in the RE5 reveal trailer... I thought he was a bit too bulky in RE5 but it didn't bother me.

Imo RE6 Chris is the best one. I will probably be alone in that opinion though, lol.

Jill imo is a toss up between BSAA and STARS. I love the beret, but the RE5 garb was pretty cool.. so.. idk. If she had the beret instead of a cap for the BSAA uni that would probably be best. And of course anything is better than Jill Valentine Tomb Raider from Revelations. Hey look a Lara Croft game... oh wait.

Btw they do not have my permission to change the faces of anyone post RE5. Their character models were so damn good in RE5 that I think it'd be some serious bullshit to alter them now. They are realistic faces now, not just some pixelated smears.... so hopefully they retain some continuity moving forward. I wanted to punch a boulder when I saw Jill in Operation Raccoon City. That shit was just unacceptable.

Jake is so bland. Such a shame considering his origins.

He's bland looking... but I think a fun character. The voice work is really great, and his dialog is pretty entertaining.

Too bad he's just bald guy with a scar on his face. Looks like a pre-made face in one of Bethesda's character creators.

Ok maybe that was a low blow. sorry

"Smooth."

At least his name isn't Cole.

It's the truth.

But he wears suspenders!

Doesn't that count for anything any more?

Hardly agree with this list, especially with the RE4 and RE2 in the same slot.
Opinions is Opinions though so heres mine

(Main Cannon Only including RE1 and REmake as different Entries)
Also why I might enjoy some more I contributed time spent with games as a factor as well.

1RE5
2RE4
3RE3
4RE1
5REMAKE
6Revelations
7RE0
8RE2

Dead Serious
There is a reason for that "IMPACT" the impact that both games marked the series with.. Reason why I have both tie. A lot of people in the community have Remake as the best in the series which I don't mind. The game is great too but I can't have a triple tie...and yeah your personal list is meh but hey personal opinion...

A couple of vague character traits aren't a personality. I mean, in videogames they are, but let's try to have standards.

Oh, yeah, I think I do that by accident a few times.

And Jake looks like a really ugly version of Drake with no hair lol.

He look so fucking old, shouldn't he have around the same age of Sherry?

They should at least give him the same hair as his father...

Then neither are a series of one liners.

Chris has a personality, it's just not a very "exciting" one to some people. Being serious and guarded are not the same thing as not having a personality.

I hope we get some back story between Leon and sherry as they have some connection between each other

I also hope we have some story how the outbreak just went from contained areas to all over the damn place

Being a straight serious dude for like...6 games isn't something I'd call a good character.

RE1:"I'm serious Jill"

RE:CV:"I'm rescuing my sister...by being serious"

RE5:"I lost my partner...but I'm still serious!!"

RE:R:"Hey new partner! look how seriously I'm oblivious of your flirting!"

RE6:"I become an alcoholic...but now...I'm serious again! Let's go other serious dude and let's fight evil seriously!"

At least Leon had some kind of development.

Chris has development, as much as Leon anyway just Chris lacks a Romantic interest which Leon has with Ada.

Outside of Ada the majority of Leon's developement all happens outside of the games and we are just told he developed (Secret Agent and now President's Guard) and every little happens with him as far as growth goes in RE2/4.

Also I don't see how Chris continuing to be serious some how negates the the fact he is actually acting on emotion and that is why he ends up in the locations for both CV and 5. The amount of care and dedication he has for Claire and Jill are more then we ever see Leon really show for anyone.

Also I got to say I'm with Gun on RE5 being the best Chris. I liked his RE1 design and all, but RE5 Chirs is just great looking and an excellent update to bring Chris into a new gen. I think RE6 had chance to be my fav, but his hair just really bothers me.

His sense of comradery and the obligation to "never left one behind" is the same since RE1. Is another part of his "serious" soldier actitude.

And Leon change from a rookie police to a sarcastic, charming special agent, might have not been subtle...but at least is a development.

Leon have more caring words for Ashley in RE4 that Chris for Jill in like 3 games they been together. And that's shocking considering that he thought Jill was dead and barely says nothing to her in RE5.

His lines always fall in the perfect serious soldier banter and never leaves that.

Ugh, I can't really agree on this discription of him.

Beyond that, the not everything needs to be said directly. The way he acts and talks when he tells Sheva about Jill and how she is one of the reasons he is there is more then enough.

I just don't agree that someone being serious and not puking dialoge at us when so many games just won't shut the hell up suddenly makes him not have personality and zero character growth.

Maybe he's Barry Burton in disguise?

I just wonder who plays Resident Evil series for the story. I mean, if I played them for that, I would not care for ANYTHING over the top. To me, the series started being moderately adequate on Resident Evil 4, where the animation started being good and it felt like a compelling experience overall (yes, even with the constant "Leoooon!!! help!"). The old resident evils on PSX had good FMVs tho. But the story has always been about unexplanaible transformations one after another.

My most liked "classic" RE is outbreak 2 online though. Now that felt like the roots well done.

At least Barry says a couple of jokes, ever heard Chris saying one?

RE1 Chris would have done the same and would have said the same words to Jill in RE5. The biggest character grow is probably in RE6 in what he becomes a drunkard because some soldiers die at his command....

I enjoy the story and characters of Chirs, Jill, Claire, RE2 Leon, and Billy. That said I woudln't say any of them are very good and certainly none are super in depth or written with any sort of continued line of quality.

I'm not saying one cannot enjoy the story. I'm saying that it's always been over the top and corny in a way. It just evolved in gameplay, but the overall essence remains.

Now, if you talk about the horror... yes, that's gone. To me it's gone since I actually grew up. Many of us probably played the first games when we were younger... part of the horror and survival comes from there.

Best post ever. Someone needs to make a comic strip out of this, same style as Dante,Virgil, and Nero being unimpressed with new Dante.

On the subject of enemy hit responses, I think it's very good in this game. Torso shots don't feel great but they never did, and as mentioned above you do you pieces of them atleast chip away. Shoot a zombie in the hand and his arm actually sways back, keep shooting a leg to get them to fall, etc. RE4/5 had very static responses to set up the melee attacks which you seem to be able to actually affect a lot more here.

True. REmake is still unsettling to a degree, but now the games are just atmospheric or tense. Oven man gets me every time though.
