Resident Evil 6 @ E3 2012 - All Footage discussion

Ok. So in your timeline gears of war came out before resident evil 4. The gears of war trailers were shown before those resident evil 4. Gears of war hit before the resident evil 4 demos. Resident Evil 4 didn't have a massive influence in this generation's action games. I'm cool with that.

Piers is obviously also meant to be a kind of "showing" of RE1 Chris when he was a young upstart, which instantly also makes the character quite appealing too.

I like Helena too - though I seriously thought during the conference footage that she was fucking CLAIRE and we were in RACCOON CITY again. I jizzed a few times before Leon yelled out Helena and I realised I was blinded by fandom.

On an unrelated note, while the conference footage didn't especially put me off, I want to kind of avoid as much as possible (since I've had the whole fucking plot spoiled thanks to leaks) but are these playthroughs spoilerific?

Not really, no. They're segments of the demo that will be released for Dragon's Dogma buyers.

I advise you to watch the Capom Unity videos, but only the Leon gameplay.

They're not spoilerific. They're 10 minute gameplay segments of the demo we'll be getting in July.

Avoid the trailers at all costs though ! I've only watched the C-virus trailer and that was enough.

I already watched the trailer. I'm really angry that I had no self discipline, I'm just WAY too obsessed with this franchise and with so many ties to RE2 it's got me always wanting more.

I really, really wish that DUMB PLOT that was leaked a few months ago was fake =( I'm still hoping Capcom somehow REWROTE EVERYTHING behind the scenes and surprised us.

But really, how can the whole plot of a game be leaked before the game is even announced? It's just so ridiculous, what the fuck are Capcom doing? I'm so sad about it :(

EDIT: Why ONLY the Leon one? Just wondering.

I'm glad I went on an information blackout after the C-Virus trailer, it was like a spoiler-fest. You really need to do that and totally block information out.

Only the Leon gameplay because it's the only part that looks horror-ish, it'll give you some hope. And if you have a good eye and ear, you'll hear they reused some of the RE2 ambient city sounds and some doors from REMAKE.

I am not one of those THE SERIES IS DOOMED WHERE IS MY HORRAHR kind of people so it's not a big deal.

But yeah. That C-Virus trailer. Uggh. it was so annoying to have all that suit ruined. I'm hoping there's a lot more story and/or surprises =/

It's Capcom. :P

I remember looking back at the DMC4 and RE5 trailers after I finished those games and was so surprised as to how much was ruined. You pretty much don't need to play the games. :lol

I'm still a sucker for their awesome trailers though. :(
 
RE5 trailers really ruined the Birdwoman twist and I kind of wish I didn't know that, it would've been a nice surprise (though I suppose not considering how much that certain character was mentioned before th reveal in the actual game).

Did they spoil Gloria's true identity in the DMC4 trailers? I remember that being a genuine surprise for me. =D

They also made it painfully obvious very early in RE5 who the bird woman was due to the scene where Josh shows Chris a picture of Jill in the tube. The whole thing wasn't handled efficiently. They should not have shown that scene in the trailer where Wesker reveals who the bird woman was.

Can't remember if Gloria's revelation was revealed in the trailers but I did love the scene where it happened. Dante's reaction was pure gold and reflected mine too.
 
That's more in line with the previous infos than the conference demo, with also a boss battle reminiscent of Revelations which is good.
But that's really hard to get interest in games when they are showed like that in conference ending looking the same.

If you freeze frame some of the quick cuts in the E3 trailer there's another spolier on DUMB PLOT origins.

You said it yourself: "It's about what developers take as examples to create their own thing, it's about which games have the most influence game design wise." RE4 might be the first popular game that used OTS cam (although even that is debatable; IIRC Ubisoft's Cold Fear, that was released before RE4, also had similar camera system), and it was an influence for Gears of War, but other games started widely adapting the camera after Gears of War success, not RE4.

I'm not saying the series didn't inspire other games. I just think you've exaggerated with the whole "it dictated the direction of 3rd person games" given how for few years many people complained about the series being stagnant and not adapting to the standards (i.e. millions of people complaining about tank controls in RE5).

If you're talking about S.D. Perry's novels, they are alright. The author did a good job translating what's for the most part is running around mansion/police station/city/island, collecting items and solving absurd puzzles while shooting zombies into novels without sacrificing anything. However, I don't think there's anything in her story that came from the original scripts. She just gave characters more personality and reason, and added some new stuff to pad things out or explain, e.g., why Jill & Barry never met with Chris & Rebecca in RE1 even though they were all in the same place. She also added a lot of her own stuff (the whole Trent storyline, the original creator of T-virus according to Perry, was ruined after REmake and Zero) and wrote two original stories.

No, thankfully they didn't. When the cutscene with her and Dante started I was ready for a boss fight :lol.

But I agree that RE5 was really bad with keeping secrets. They spoiled almost everything before the game was out. :|
 
I wish we would be in a world where we could get a RAIDEN-MGS2 level of surprise with a game. Doutbful it would happen but it would be nice.
 
I'm not watching any more trailers either. Completely done with media until release. RE5 spoiled too much. I've already found out about
Ada and her role
so hopefully there's many more surprises.

As for this Chris/Piers relationship it seems like a straight up bromance. Chris has always been my favorite though so if he dies I'll be sad.
 
Finally got around to watching all of these videos. I don't understand the hate that this game is getting right now, because I think this looks flat out AWESOME. One of the highlights of E3, IMO. I love all of the new moves at the player's disposal. The prone, rolling, moving and shooting, and sliding all look fantastic. Thank god the tank controls are gone. A lot of folks seem to be down on the more action-oriented direction that this game seems to be headed into, but I couldn't be more excited about this.

The last three probably have no chance of making it though so Ada, and the two new characters will probably be in instead. Also please none of that 4 characters with different costumes shit from RE5 (until DLC anyway). I mean the weapons made them different but just give us different characters instead.
 
I guess one benefit of the marker is that it will let you know what door not to go through, so that you can explore the areas without the risk of going through a door and initiating a cutscene or something.

Same thing I was thinking. That's what I used the Navline in Dead Space for. Figuring out which ways to explore before moving on.
 
RE games have lost it, they should just rename it and start a new franchise.
Just reset it and go back to the survival horror roots. I would play RE2 anytime before playing this.
 
I wouldn't say no to a RE2make. hell, I wouldn't say no to REmake, just throw survival horror a bone. :(

Anyway, new footage is looking somewhat better...won't make any judgements until I've played the demo.

Yeah hopefully they do a RE2make.

I'd love it in either REmake style (which will never happen again) or modern style. But given the compulsory co-op nonsense now, they'd probably retcon it so that Leon and Claire are together all the time. I can see interesting ways to make it happen by also combining Sceneario's A and B for one big game. As long as the beginning and end game are the same, I don't care what happens in the middle.

Potential RE3make would be even easier with Jill and Carlos. Plus next-gen Nemesis. :O

I genuinely feel sorry and send heart felt condolences to anyone that is actually looking forward to this derivative, focus tested, pandering garbage. As I stated before, this is a bullet point game, there is no talent here, and its visible, the sad part is, that this will sell, not because its a good game, it won't be, because its still surviving off the name "Resident Evil" when it was actually good. Hopefully after about 2 more of these, consumers wise up. Why did I even look at this Chris game play after the Leon one was so dreadful, some idiot when he was playing said. " That looks so cool" there in lies the epidemic as to why games like this are rubbish.

Please Capcom just leave this series alone.

Well this sucks. It takes out from the immersion contantly seeing your mate disappearing and reappearing in the game. However, I like what I see in these videos and I think that RE6 looks fantastic. The only real problem of RE6 is the disturbing giraffe-blowjob logo.

Because before anything related to the game was even released, Ada Wong was confirmed to appear. So was Simmons, the guy in the latest trailer.

The biggest and most obvious is the presence of
Carla Radames
which really isn't just a random name that you would guess and/or pull out of your ass and whihc is further solidified by this image.

Hmm. I didnt carefully read that whole leaked story.
But didnt it say Radames girl is Ada's clone? And that picture shows Simmon with white girl? Unless am wrong but you couldnt have white clone from asian body
... It didnt even mention Simmon in the leak. So im not sure which one you are talking about.

Anyway im not saying it's all wrong. I just refuse to believe anything post on the internet coming from random source. It's prove to be wrong most of the time.
not to mention having clone of the character is one of the dumbest plot i could ever imagine.
